  • In this interview excerpt from November 9, 1989, Eric Carr, KISS's second drummer, reveals he had the opportunity to sing on any KISS album but wanted to wait for the right song. He presented the song Little Caesar to Gene Simmons as joke, but the bassist thought it was perfect for the upcoming Hot in the Shade album. The song was soon given the full KISS treatment, with Bruce Kulick and Paul Stanley contributing their talents to make the song come alive.

Wished he got to sing more songs on the albums, Eric sang Young and Wasted good live and I think he should’ve sang it on the Lick It Up album.

I feel like Betrayed from Hot in the Shade would also sound great with him on main vocals

I think Eric should have sung Rock and Roll Hell on Creatures of the Night. Change the pronoun to "I" from "you" and it would have been almost autobiographical

Little Caeser is the only song I like on that album.

Both Erics had great voices. Eric Singer could be a lead. I wish the band had done more of what they did in the early years where each guy wrote a few tunes.

I agree that KISS should of had all four sing on the each album. It gave us variety and ensure only the best songs by each members appeared on the album. Once Ace left, the pressure was all on G&P to write quality material that could fill an album every year

I love the song. “Somebody’s waiting” is great too.

Agreed! That should have been on a KISS album

Somebody’s waiting was sung by Keel ? Is that a totally different song! It was a very bad ass song I believe on there first album.

Yes it’s a different song. Keel is pretty awesome though. Eric’s Somebody’s Waiting is a power ballad. It’s on TH-cam.

I like 'Somebody's Waiting' soooooooo much more than 'Forever' which I personally find unlistenable and so painfully cheesy.

Shares it's title with gangster movie "Little Caesar"(1931) so that probably helped it get past Gene. Some of Gene's songs (1977's "Almost Human" from Love Gun, 1980s "Naked City" from Unmasked) share their titles with movies, such as: "Almost Human"(1974 crime drama); "Naked City"(1948 police/murder investigation drama). Had Eric spent that ten years writing songs that had the same titles as various 'Film Noir' black-and-white movies, he might have had more success getting songs on albums.

Fantastic! I hadn't thought of those connections before.

I heard it was originally called Ain't That Peculiar and it was Gene's idea to change it to Little Ceasar.

Please people - who don't - listen to these truths too, you only (some of you) fixate on the others, apart from Gene and Paul, not having any say etc. Yes, the two guys ARE the "main" ones, but obviously not like that, you know, as many think, brutally..

Yup, there's more than one of two sides to every story

most of that album is a joke

Let's be honest, "Little Caesar" ain't a great song

  • @MetalSalvation

I always hated the song, I think it's one of the worst KISS ever did. "Eyes Of Love" would've been a better choice.

    • @ericcarrrevealed
      @ericcarrrevealed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

"Eyes of Love" would have worked. Gene could have written the lyrics for for "Nightmare" or Heavy Metal Baby" and they would have have worked for Hot in the Shade
