Very nice have you written about the tunings employed; I came from a discussion on härjedalspipan which apparently had (variable obviously) things as far of as a septimal major 3rd (435c) Since violin is free intonation I guess it is harder to tell how they played (don't know what evidence you are using). Of course everywhere in the world from Gamelan to raga tuning varied from player to player (whom would not have been acclimatised as we are to ET) and different regions

Dear John. Nice to read your comment about the music and especially the intonation. I have applied this intonation system from different sources as written ones as well as old recordings with fiddle player, both from Sweden and Norway. My college and friend Sven Ahlbäck made a research with different metods and find a kind of a system. That is working good for Scandinavian music. You have in the 7 notes in a "scale" the first, second and fifth note that never change. And the 3, 4, 6 and 7 can have 5 different levels.
And they are moving around so you can choose a third/a =minor 3 in the first part of the tune. And then next time the third/c=1/4 tone. This you can find in both instrumental and vocal music
