Oh man - so sorry to see this. I was about to buy one of these engines, but will be holding off. Thank you so much for posting this. Please keep us updated!!!!
Yea, I’m curious on what they say was the cause. I’m new to 4 stroke gas engines but I would hope it would be harder to destroy one this quickly, especially since I followed the manual closely along the way. I’ll keep you updated with what I find out.
Update 12/21/20: Heard back from Horizon and they will be sending a new engine out to me today. They have been out of stock until now. Apparently the exhaust valve broke off inside the engine as I expected and destroyed the motor. I’ll post a new video of the break in process and installation when I am able.
Glad to hear you’re getting a free engine! Hope this gets sorted quickly and that you’re back in the air again. I’d love a tiger, but even with an F150 I don’t think I can transport it to the field! Also, wonder if this is a common engine problem? I would classify this as ‘catastrophic failure’.
I have the new engine now and have it broke in. I’ll post a video in the next few days of that. I’ve never heard of anyone else having a failure like this with their engine before. I made a platform out of a sheet of plywood that I bungee the landing gear to the wood so it can slide into the bed of my truck (wings not installed) and not move around. I can send you a picture of that next time I have it on the mount.
@@millennialfalcon4534 that would be great!! I’d love a pic and glad things are working out with the motor. Can you fly year round where you are? Hope to see some videos soon!!
Update 10/27/20: I reached out to Horizon about an update and they said it looks like it was the valve that broke off inside and destroyed the internal components of the engine. It looks like they will be replacing it but it’s on back order. As soon as I hear more I’ll post another update. On the bright side I’ll be able to record the breakin process this time. Talk to you all later!
That's a shame Be careful what oil and ratio you run Only run original klotz techniplate at 15 -1 As recommended by the now improved saito website and mr. Saito Ray English. Otherwise you starve the engine of lubrication
