Thank you Chris. Amazing instruments. Your love of your job comes through so clearly. That maple back was breathtaking and I must add an HD28 to the collection.
Stunningly amazing sound, Chris. The guitar is everything You described. But even more, Your finger picking was "awesome". The combination, "sweetness".........
In almost all of your other videos you have the microphone in the way of your meat hand! This one the camera angle was just about perfect! THANK YOU! :-)
Both sound great & great demo. The HD 28 almost sounds like a Ziricote back. But that OM, I may take another listen. Modified V neck, heh. Thanks Chris
That maple/euro spruce turned out to be a sonically brilliant combination. I was really down on Martin in the late 70s, but man, have they responded well to what the market was telling them, and to the dozens of talented luthiers who paved the way in new directions. I would love to hear the OM-28 in redwood/walnut.... though I'm pretty sure Martin does not use redwood, or cedar.
The OM sounded great; the 28 sounded less than what it should. I believe the recording was not up to snuff. Thanks Andy. The maple is beyond my means. Was definitely the better guitar. Amazing Grace was played brilliantly. 👏🏻👏🏻
I played this HD-28 today, and I will tell you that thing is phenomenal! In my humble opinion it was one of the best sounding guitars I’ve ever played and thats definitely saying something. I also directly compared it to the 1937 d-18 authentic and the 1939 d-28 authentic and it had much more sound than both. I play mostly bluegrass, so my opinion may be different than some. But I couldn’t believe how awesome this guitar was, for $3,200 too! I’m going to go back and bring it home with me
Look great, sound great. Above my price point and skill level. Really, based on my care techniques, a lower priced model fits better but for the one with the means and the diligence, one of these would be wonderful. I do not complain about price points. There are plenty of good looking and playing guitars in my price range. I had a chance to play a Taylor Builders 324ce recently. Blew my doors off.
Loved this and your 1000 - 2000 guitar range video from 2017. I play in a Praise Worship team at church. Any recommendations for Christian praise music guitar. Currently use a Martin DM -2. The OM28 sounds absolutely amazing!
I would recommend a Furch Master's choice! They are excellent guitars that sound great whether you are fingerpicking or strumming! Let us know what you end up deciding! Best of luck! www.alamomusic.com/furch-green-masters-choice-dc-sr-with-lr-baggs-spe-spruce-rosewood/
@@AlamoMusic Awesome recommendation. I have listened to a Furch being played - fantastic sound. What's your shipping cost? You can email separately at bytstervp@yahoo.com for any deals you may be offering.
What is the name of that tune at 12:23? I've heard other folks demo guitars with that and I really like it. I'm a beginner and that's one I would like to learn. Thanks!
Every gibson I've ever played with maple bodys lack punch and brightness to my ear.....and sure this guitar sounds wiked....but it's on a phone...so... is it the mic ? but it's beautiful to look at ..stunning really...and ya it sounds amazing too
Great video as per usual! The HD-28 sounds great, big tone response as you would expect from a dreadnought body. A little off topic from the aforementioned footage - any chance of having any resonator guitar (Dobro etc) reviews in the near future? Cheers
I prefer the older neck style on the HD-28. Always have. It’s my favorite neck shape. I have a 2016 model, and to me, the neck is perfect. I don’t care for the newer oval taper or whatever it’s called. Martin pleases some people and annoys a lot of loyal customers. Why start mucking around with an icon like the HD-28? Just make another model and call it something else.

You should!

The HD-28 is Beautiful as well! If I was a rich Man and played right handed I would Love to own them both!!

Well said!
Chris you do a great job of representing Alamo music....I would probably be divorced if I had your job because I would have to many guitars!!
I have a supportive and understanding wife. ;)
Alamo Music Center mine is supportive..How ever she can be tough to convince I need another guitar
Where those not Grover tuners on the HD28? Beautiful guitar.
I don't think they used Grovers on this one (:
Alamo Music Center spot on sorry. Thought they looked like grovers in the video.

Okay, at least tell me his strumming pattern at the beginning when he is in G.
I bought a special D18 Style with VTS top you have any information on it
What would Martin Custom Shop OM-28 cost with Engleman Spruce Top and Rosewood back and sides cost in today's market? Thank you.

Beautiful and wonderful tone!
A little out if budget though. 7k and 4k.
But great the om tone is to die for.

Ya I like the same old martin neck profile I always known....that would be a better idea .... rename it cuz chances are they will only sell a few ...
The om might be the best sounding guitar you've had on the show.
PLEASE COMPARE AND REVIEW THE PRS PARLOR P20 &
P20E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE

He shows expensive acoustic 🎸 guitars like Taylor and Martin mostly.
Martin custom shop guitars are consistently a cut above...
Custom guitars are definitely the way to go if you can afford one!
@@AlamoMusic and for those of us who can't , there's always a DX1AE. Nice review as always.
My DX1RAE has a Morato fingerboard and you can hear the difference
😄
They a very expensive guitars in the store
