I noticed a strong trend for Korean-style snacks two months ago in Taichung.
On the B1 floor of the Parklane CMP mall, there was even a small pop-up store for Korean snacks.
And I missed the peanuts and dried tiny fish variety of snacks somehow.

Chinese take-out food in Canadian is not actual Chinese food or Taiwanese food. It's been westernized so much that the food is unrecognizable in Asia. Egg rolls in Canada are deep fried and contain meat and some vegetables inside. People like to dip them in a sweet sauce

有這反應很正常我覺得,我自己吃其他國的零食也有吃過很多這樣的,主要是跟自己國家平常吃的味道上差異太大所以吃不習慣,在自己國家可能甜的在其他國家可能做成酸的等各種不同調味,之前去日本玩吃日本零食全酸的魷魚頭只有酸味沒有其他味道😂吃到滿頭?我沒有不敬的意思只是自己吃不習慣

I can see why you feel this way based on the video, but I'd say it's the exact opposite.
If we are going to be honest, there's a lot less food diversity in Taiwan, for instance. Places like Tainan, Taichung and Kaohsiung have absolutely fantastic Taiwanese food, but very little else in the way of authentic international cuisine. Even the Japanese food is made for the Taiwanese palate. Taipei is the only city where you can find authentic food from other countries, and that's only because there are more foreigners cooking there, and people from Taipei are willing to try it.
The large cities of Canada, on the other hand, are filled with people from all over the world, and you can find plenty of authentic tastes from every corner of the planet.
Exactly. Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world and people can accept a wide range of flavours.
Typical weekend shopping trip: Stop by Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall and pick up some banh-mi from owners that barely speak English. Turn the corner and hop into Italian grocery/bakery and pick up a stick of salami and pizza from owners that look like ex-mafia. Then cross the intersection to an Argentinian butcher who's glued to the soccer...I mean football game on TV, to pick up some beef, blood sausages and chitlins for an asado (Argentinian bbq). Then pick up a shawarma for lunch on the way home from an Iranian eatery. This all within a couple of km radius.
Taiwanese food is delicious. But I am biased cuz I'm Taiwanese. Taiwan has a lot of great food but I agree that there aren't as much diversity in terms of ethnic foods and flavours.
It’s not a whale, it’s a cod 😆. Not only Canadians don’t like fish or seafood, Americans don’t like them either. My kids love them and one of her Asian friend also like it. Her Asian friend’s parents are Asian but born in the US so I don’t think they eat too much Asian food so I was surprised she liked them. I can totally understand why people would think it’s fishy. If you’ve gotten the bigger bakery brand of pineapple cakes, they’ll like it more. My husband brought some to his coworker and one of them loved it so much that he went to the Asian supermarket to get some but told my husband it tastes nothing like the one he brought back. That it wasn’t really good. We got 嘉德, the only brand of pineapple cake my husband will eat. Wasabi is just like the sauce you make to eat with sashimi and sushi. Do your friends not eat a lot of that? Is sushi or sashimi not as popular in Canada, eh? Lol

應該說,歐美都是吃味道沒那麼重的魚排、蝦仁,而且都會有醬汁蓋過魚蝦的味道,不會像亞洲人吃一條完整的魚、帶殼有頭的蝦子,所以她們就很難接受真正有魚味、蝦味的海鮮 . . .😅😅😅

Like how honest these reactions are, those flavors just arent for everyone, and i think the ones that they generally dont like are more of the type that you just slowly grow to like as a Taiwanese. It is a bit disheartening to hear they say gross or disgusting to something i grow up eating😢, but i guess Canadians are just more brutal with their words
