I wonder why Monique didn’t do Les Mis & other shows when she was in London after Miss Saigon or try Broadway. Wish we’ll hear Monique sing more. She’s so good!

Thanks for sharing this gem of an episode, with some behind the Miss Saigon audition scene story. I read columnists comparing and labeling Lea and Monique then. Supposedly, Lea is the natural singer, and Monique is the natural actress. About which years later, Lea protested that she too is a good actress, rightfully so. We've seen how convincingly she transforms herself to the characters she played, be it the lovelorn Eponine, cockneyed bumpkin Eliza, another cockneyed Mrs Lovett, etc. But seeing this, I can see indeed the ease and innate ability Monique can emote. Her eyes, mouth, and face are so expressive. The Miss Saigon producers thought Lea and Monique looked and sounded alike. They did indeed. Singing-wise, probably due to their training at Repertory Philippines. Again, thanks for sharing!
I never get tired watching this episode especially listening the songs sang by Jaime Blanche. Monique Wilson is so good in this show.

Lea's acting is very subtle but deep. The Hilda Koronel, Nora Aunor kind of excellent delivery. Her eyes are very expressive, no need for constant contortions of the face.

Come to think of it, Monique Wilson could have done the same path as Lea Salonga did.
She probably was not as ambitious.
She went back to the Philippines while Lea ventured into the unknown theatrical world.
She came out as a lesbian, probably that do her in, in terms of advancing her craft..
she is NOT O.A. unlike LEA, SO O.A.
