NYC will never recover. The wealthy will not be moving back and without the wealthy there is no economy in NYC. NYC will now mostly be only very poor people who live off the system or work low end jobs. Its a wrap. RIP.
Beautiful video. Thank you. I moved to Florida from Manhattan about five years ago. Have not come back at all. This was a very nice visit and I was able to guess where you were before I saw the signs. You never forget a place where you have lived your whole life. Thank you again.
I can't wait for everything to reopen and I miss the fun I had with my family, friend's and my girlfriend and also riding the New York City Subway and I really want to work and earn money and great video it made me feel better because it's depressing to stay home for a long time instead of enjoying life outside with a bit of fun.
I've always felt that the NYC tourism board or some sort of city education board should hire you to make videos or give tours/walkthroughs. Your stuff is great and proves content doesn't' need to be fancy to be informative. Love how you've been openly been showing the world how NYC is during this time (while staying safe, of course).
@@Dr.Pepper001 During the actual rioting and looting, boards didn't help at all. They bring crowbars and hammers and stuff and they just bust a hole and in some cases, tear down the entire wall of boards. The only business where it MIGHT help, is if you're like a general store with nothing of value to steal. Then they won't just throw bricks at your windows for fun and move on to some other place. Like some convenience store or something was just smashed up with all their stuff on the floor. Maybe they took some beer and cigs I guess, but they didn't have to destroy everything as it's obviously not a "corporation" to be angry at nor do white privileged ppl usually own such an establishment. :P

I've discovered your channel about 3 months ago, and I love to watch your videos since I can't travel to NYC. At least I get in the mood of the city haha! You make quality content and I hope you'll continue !
Just a humble correction - most of those high end stores you walked past on 5th Avenue (I work for one of them) are open! They have to follow Andrew Cuomo's "Retail To Go", which does not allow for clients in the store. Clients have to place their orders via phone, and can pick them up via "curbside pickup". The buildings are open, even though they're still boarded up. Also, the Tiffany store next to Trump Tower has been closed for construction since January. There's no merchandise in there. They moved around the corner to 6 East 57th Street.
Wow! Now I see how New York City is not so crazy and busy as how it was before the pandemic attack. But although it is currently phase one of reopening the city, it does feel good to gradually back to normal. I can't wait to travel, independently, again, to visit and explore the city and other NYC boroughs!
Here in NL, Canada 🇨🇦 we opened alert phase 3 yesterday which includes retail, hair salons, etc. We have 2 positive cases currently in our province. When riding elevators here only 2 people allowed and on escalators there got to be 3 steps between people. We are hoping to enter level 2 in 3 weeks or less.🤞🏻 Good Luck NYC ❤️
Rush hour in Manhattan and barely anyone around.... a reopening of NYC like we've never seen before; not even after 9/11 or Hurricane Sandy. Coming out of the subway and seeing a handful of people and cars on Fifth Avenue with all the stores boarded up- especially "Fort Saks" :o It seems it's going to take a while for NYC to get back to the (new) normal but eventually it ill get back to normal. Possibly after a vaccine and especially if COVID weakens over time.
You'll see the highest traffic between 6-8a, 3-5p and 9p-12a, when people get on/off work the most, assuming 1st shift is 7a-3p, 2nd is 3p-11p, 3rd is 11p-7a as it is for pretty much all essential/phase 1 industries.
Unreal place NYC when it's functioning normally. As a Brit, I was a tourist here 9 years ago, and It was an extraordinary, unexplainable experience. One I would like to have again. The Architecture etc is out if this world.

Our city will re-open...slowly. This new "normal" is something we're dealing with, even though it's hard with all the emptiness around. I look forward to seeing what Phases 2-4 bring. Thank you AK for doing these posts and for your positive outlook. Stay safe...
Phase 1 is supposed to be pick up at stores and restaurants. You are right more life comes back with phase 2. I’m in Seattle and they created phase 1.5 which opened the “personal service” industry. I’m a hairstylist so I went back to work yesterday. Governor Inslee threw all the rules out the window and send us back to work to stand 6” away from our clients even though cases continue to climb. I had 12 clients yesterday and there’s no hope of no exposure. I will be wearing my P100 mask to work. I’m glad NYC is acting so cautiously. Thanks for the great videos I love your content.
Hi Action Kid, Jose from Puerto Rico. Nothing will ever be as before my friend so you can say goodbye to that. The city that never sleeps finally took a long nap and will have a very long hangover.
You're showing a busy part of NYC, yes, BUT, it's historically the tourists that visit 5th Avenue to spend all their money. Native NY'ers aren't the ones who you'd find walking 5th Avenue to shop. Try heading downtown or into an outer borough for a better representation of what reopening is looking like.
went to apple store on Saturday here in Vancouver Canada, had to put on a mask and have my temperature checked before going in , clothing stores here do the same plus when you try cloths on they put it away for a week and disinfect the changing rooms affter each use . when New York opens up it might be different
