Thanks Robin. I like the shape. and that its retractable. I too have a kitty that likes to spend time in the room, and play with anything she thinks is interesting. I saw your video of your sewing room; I got inspired and rearranged my space today. I'm not finished, but the amount of "real estate" that opened up is amazing! I also realized how much fabric I have. 😂
I’m still getting used to the iron but I like it so far. The double points does make It interesting when I try to set the iron down like a standard iron. I’m reminded quickly that It needs to go on its base. It can be fun to rearrange our craft space. For me I find that It opens up my creativity. Finding some extra space is always a plus. It may feel like you have more fabric than you realized but now you’ve also refreshed your memory of what you have. Maybe it’ll spark some creativity for a new project.
Oh, I love mine! A couple of things I have noticed: I don't want to chance warping when I put the iron on my cutting board, even though it has a solid base, so I put it on a rubber iron rest if I put it on my cutting board. Secondly, it takes a little bit to get used to making sure you get the iron plugged into the base, as sometimes, I'm in a hurry, and I don't get the holes lined up and the iron firmly into the base. Probably just me. One of the great features, well, besides cordless, is it is extremely smooth on the bottom, and it just glides! Congratulations on the new iron; hope you enjoy it.
Thanks Kathy. I’ve already gotten into the habit of looking at the lights on the iron when I set It back on it’s base. Then I know I have It settled correctly. It sure does glide nicely. Reminds me of air hockey. 😆
What a great gift! I’ve been tempted to get a cordless iron for same reasons you mentioned. I’m glad you’ll be using it and look forward to your thoughts and opinions! Have a great weekend 😀
I have a red one, it’s awesome, you will love it, enjoy…personally I don’t put water in mine, I use a separate sprayer, just personal preference…Happy for you!
I previously tried the no water in the iron technique but soon realized I’m a steam addict. I love to combine the spray bottle and the steam from the iron to get a really good press on some blocks and fabrics.
I've gotten used to mine. I keep it plugged in so that I can't even see the cord. I sometimes use that pointy section for odd rounded spaces while using my tailors ham as a mini iron board. I keep a bottle of half distilled/half Brita filtered water nearby to refill (water too hard here). After a year of owning it, today was the 1st time that I had to clean the bottom and it was quickly back to it's smooth gliding. I still use my Oliso iron if I have to sew large quantities of fabric so that it stays hot without having to plop it onto a reheating base often (but it's mostly put away). I've kept both boxes to easily ship back if acting up or to pack them up if moving. Oliso has replaced mine once.
I’ve already had to clean my iron 🤣. I went a little crazy with the fusible stabilizer on a recent project. 🤷♀️. It does clean up nicely. I have an extension cord surge protector that sits on the top of the iron station desk. I plug It in there so like yours I barely see the cord. I might need to add a strip of shelf liner under the base though. Each time I set the iron back in the base It scoots back a smidge. If I’m not careful It might scoot itself right off of the desk 😆
I did drop my iron a while ago and wondering about it's replacement. You answered all my questions. It sounded like we look for the same things. I think this would be great with a pressing station which I just created. My problem is that it is wouldn't work for garment sewing. I use an ironing board for that. The plug for the base would not reach the plug. If I used a power strip with a longer cord it would be in the middle of the room. I would be tripping over that.🤔 Really helpful video.
Thank you. I guess It comes down to how much you like the iron or the fact that it’s cordless and how determined you are to use It. The base can sit plugged in anywhere nearby and you can take the iron to your garment pressing station. If you need to set the iron down maybe one of those silicone iron mats would work. I didn’t look to see how long the iron can be away from the base so that could be an issue. I haven’t had It away from the base for more than a couple minutes but in that time it’s been fine.
I love this iron so far. I’m so used to setting an iron down “the old fashioned way” but that second pointed end stops me quickly. 😂. I do like that it’s easy to iron in both directions or spin the iron around to use left handed.
I have looked longingly at these fir a while. I have been afraid I wouks get one and be disappointed. It would be so lovely to have no cord when ringing a quilt top. I am anxious to see what you think after you have had it while. It sure made that block smooth out nicely.
I loved my cordless iron but it only lasted 1 year and then stopped working. I was so sad and ordered a small corded one, but hated it especially since I tripped over the cord when Ironing. I ordered another cordless iron but a different manufacturer to see if it would last longer than a year. Hope yours lasts longer than a year!
I hope It does too. I had a previous iron that I loved and It lasted for five years. When It died I bought the same iron again but It only lasted one year. Very sad.
Thank you Mary. I’d love to send you a fabric postcard. If you’re interested please email me your mailing address. You can find my email in the description box of my videos.
Thanks Carol. I’d love to send you a fabric postcard. Please email me your mailing address and I’ll get one out to you. My email is listed in the description box of this video.
I couple people have mentioned that. I haven’t noticed any videos about this iron but I’m sure I will now. Just like you never see any red cars until you buy a red car. 😉
No I have not. I decided to go with the newest Oliso irons. I do miss the cordless feature. Thanks for the update, maybe I’ll check out the newer version for a future purchase.
Robin I had trouble finding this - didn't think to look in the playlist - I usually just look under videos and all your new ones are there - and it says it is unlisted not sure what that means ???
There was a glitch in the email notification system. This video is scheduled to go live here on TH-cam on the 22nd at 10 pm. You snuck in 🤣. It’s a new system and they’re trying to get It figured out. Totally understandable.
You did a great unboxing. Looks like it will work well for you for your limited space on your ironing table and no wires to get in the way. One question - does the iron turn 'off' on the options or do you have to turn it off at the wall plug? You're a smooth operator 😆
Sandra, when you subscribed did you click on the little bell beside the subscribe button? It gives you the choice of how often you get the notifications. I always click on the bell and then click again on always.
Excellent reminder Marion. Thank you for sharing. Mine does not rattle. I wonder if a piece of plastic is in there from the manufacturing process. Probably best to return It for a different one. When you remove the tank can you see anything loose inside?
That is frustrating. Normally I just deal with things as long as they safely work but it’s an iron that gets very hot and it’s not inexpensive. Sorry. Looks like you’re going to be returning It. I hope it’s not your only iron. If you bought It locally maybe open the next one and give It a bit of a shake 😉
I like It a bunch. It’s a struggle to remember that I can’t stand the iron up like my usual iron. It has two pointed ends 🤣. It’s excellent at getting wrinkles out of fabric.
Oh smooth.. Lucky you. You deserve it and I hope you will happy with it. If not, I know a place where you can donate it to. Wink wink, just kidding. I have always used distilled water in mine. My mom used distilled water and I do too, no reason why. I just now looked it up and our famous handy dandy encyclopedia and they said yes because it causes no rust in the water, if in case as a grow adult you suck it the fabric of water ever and over years and get rust in your tummy it will make you ill. Our moms are so great they know everything. Thanks mom. LOL
This cordless iron would be great for making bias tape using the bias tape tools - th-cam.com/video/7vZUcQMYI2M/w-d-xo.html
Oh wow! What a fabulous gift,

Have you seen the NI-QL1000G model? It seems newer with a 30 minute shutoff timer. I couldn't see any other difference between this and the WL600.

The same place where you choose the heat setting also has an off spot. I never leave an iron plugged in anyways.
