One more I'll share: While stationed at Elmendorf AFB I was pulled from LE to augment Security. While at an AWACS security shack I spotted a lone man in class A uniform with no Restricted Area Badge displayed cross the red line into the no-lone-zone onto the AWACS hardstand. I stepped out, took cover and jacked him up, put him face down on the ground and went through SOP to detain and ID. I called in for an roving patrol to back me up. While waiting I had him pull his RAB out and toss it back behind him. When I approached and checked it, it turned out to be Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney, the then commander of Alaskan Air Comman, Alaskan Region NORAD and later Pacific Air Forces. I figured my career was over but he went through the full processing without a word other than to answer our questions and a few days later he sent over an official Letter Of Recognition instead of an Article 15. Thank you General!
Oh gawd. The "test." When/where the lowest enlisted has to do their job while he tested by a significantly higher rank... 😮💨😓 I never had that in my 4 yr active duty AF career when I was in from 2009-2013..

I have consistetnly seen MPs wearing plate carriers at the gates where I'm stationed. I can count on my fingers the number of times I've seen them without one
