Hey Pete. Thanks. I've learned through some pretty tough comments to try to economize my words. Perhaps none better than in this video th-cam.com/video/M0ncR5fCSEA/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=8MinuteAxe. The Donner really is a great sounding guitar. I have a Gibson, Breedlove, and 4 Taylors that are collecting dust. :) Take care and have a great weekend. Mark
Nice shout out to United Breaks Guitars. :-) Nice looking guitar. I am a big fan of Ovation guitars, and some of the people I have been playing ukulele with are big fans of Enya Carbon Fibre ukuleles. Great review.
Mark: I've been thinking about buying an inexpensive 6-string guitar to keep at my retail store because I have free time during the day and many times at night I'm too busy or too tired to practice. I certainly didn't want to leave my Gibson or Martin there. I trust your judgment, so I decided to order the Donner. I'll let you know what I think of it after I have had it a few days.
Hey Carl. You know I don't get paid for these and usually give the stuff away. I don't even remember agreeing to have them send me the guitar but I have a Gibson, Taylors, Breedlove, and Cordoba sitting on the stand right now and I'm playing my Donner. Go figure.
Oh, how I wish I'd had one of those when I was first learning guitar, back in Fall '66! The Donner is better than the (cheap at that time, but good) $50 Harmony 6-string I borrowed from my college roommate, and in constant $$, cheaper! Fred
Fred. I will say that things didn't move a whole lot for about 15 years. Because in 81, when I was 10, I was looking at Harmony guitars in the Sears Catalog. I would stare for hours. The good old days. Everything is better now. Remember when Japanese made Squiers were $125.
The back sides and neck are all wood but it's the top we all seem to pick on and that part is super durable. Apparently there are several kinds of Carbon Fiber and this one is fabric which I guess is of higher quality.
This one is unique for sure and a real steal. I think this the Algonquin and the Sire are three of the best value guitars I've played. Thanks so much. Mark
We can always count on you, Mark, to bring us timely, topical and innovative new gear - (as well as some great 12 string sounds!) And you got me at a "really good $200 carbon fiber guitar". I've already ordered one! Looks like fun! One question: the brown colored guitar says it's 3K Pure Carbon Fiber and the black colored one says it's 4K Pure Carbon Fiber...What's the difference? Thanks for all the work you put into your informative videos!
