If the singers Madonna, Cliff Richards, and Bonnie Tyler, and the actors John Malkovich, George Clooney, Scarlet Johansson, and Michael Fassbinder and other famous stars have moved to live in Portugal, then something very cool is happening in Portugal ! Welcome to Portugal
@@FORESTJANE369 Do not get so dramatic. I used to live in the USA for over 25+ years (New York City and New Jersey) and it was much much worse there in terms of weekly crimes rate and robberies. People are almost afraid to walk around at night. Not to mention that in the past couple of years there has been an increase and rise of crimes in schools and school mass shootings! - When was the last time you saw school shootings in Portugal ? As for the immigration problem in Portugal, it is almost the same as in every other country but the people that come here to work are peaceful too. Hardly any problems. They are all looking for a better life, and they are NOT invading the country in huge massive numbers. They are from every religion, skin color and from every part of this planet. The other day I met a girl from Hawaii living here ! There are over 11 million Portuguese and around 2 million immigrates working here. The numbers are not that dramatic . Consider how many real Portuguese (around 6+ million) which are living and working in other countries. Consider also, that there are some times MORE tourists coming here on vacation, than actually living here. Portugal is one of Europe´s best places to go on vacation. For whatever reason people come to Portugal to live, it is always to find a better life and a good life for their children and families. Gostamos de viver em paz com todos ... This is a great interview! It's wonderful to know there is a church community family option, not just groups that party or are social drinking at every outing. We'll definitely be visiting Porto on our next trip! Very informational!
In Lisbon the yearly rainfall is nearly half less compared to Porto. Also the montly awerage temperature is about 2-4 celcius higher in Lisbon and this combined with the rainfall makes Lisbon number one choise for those who have weather conditions high in their list.
Maybe. Remember that not everyone is looking for warm weather. A lot of the people we meet in Porto have come from Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. They're done with the heat of any kind. - Josh & Kalie

Considering moving to Portugal from Norway. The Scandinavia that everyone used to rave about is just not what it used to be. The inflation is ridiculous! But the pay is not catching up. Hard to make ends meet. And then there is the never ending bad summer weather :) You guys have mentioned humid and cold winters in Portugal, but where I live, I get -20C in Jan and Feb. I'll take a Portugese winter anytime. Great video. Thank you.
I now live in Serbia and Budapest and travel the region. If you look at statistics it is lower here than portugal. Very safe and most people dont worry all that much about crime here.
Safety is relative but almost all reports show Portugal ranking higher in safety than Serbia or Hungary. In addition, just because costs may be lower that's not the only reason to live there. Lots of countries have lower costs but quality of life is also lower.
Thanks for the comment, Chris. What statics are we looking at? The ones we see show Portugal as lower. So what all are we taking into account? - Josh & Kalie

I know he was joking but "I don't know any old people" (over 40?) really is rude. And not actually even old. In the mid-west some towns the police don't investigate if the victim is black- sadly, sort of nonchalant about it. This is from a woman who's a professor- good family, police didn't care, when nephew(?) was killed.
Thanks, Chris. Yes, there’s a bit of a Schengen shuffle you’d have to do if you’re not an EU citizen. So if you’re from the U.S., UK, Canada for example, you’re limited to 90 days in a 180 day period visa free.
We really wanted to retire in Portugal 🇵🇹 but I think we missed the chance. Real Estate is no longer affordable and the retirement/tax/citizenship program that we were going to apply for doesn’t exist anymore. We are very sad about this. Had fallen in love with Portugal ❤
Sorry to hear that. Real estate in the most desirable areas have certainly gone up but there's still value out there although I'm not sure of your budget. The citizenship requirements have remained the same. The D7 visa for retirees (passive income) still exists at a low threshold but certainly the 10 year tax holiday has ended. - Josh & Kalie
