In your retirement you continue to bless others in so many ways. Continued prayers for Granny. Have a wonderful day Paul. Praying and Blessed! 🤗🙏💕🌄🎄
Paul I enjoyed your version of Pretty Paper. I also went to the link and listened to roy orbison's. Roy leads off with the chorus. It is a sad song but beautiful. It is sad that there are people out there who are less fortunate than others and i am not talking about possessions, I am talking about the love and support of loved ones. I have also been fortunate in my lifetime to have this. I loved reading about the 10 years you spent teaching middle school. It made me feel lacking in my education but i still loved reading about the poetry you taught to those kids i hope they realized the importance of having someone who tried to instill the love of poetry. I did not know about ceasura, see you are never to old to learn, right! Thanks for all your comments and the time you put in on your video's. Debbie
Debbie, thanks for always watching and commenting! I hope all is well. I knew Roy lead with the chorus. Most folks do. It makes the song a little longer. I tried it that way once, but the chorus is very high, and it seemed like I could sing it better when I warmed up with the verse first. :-) We had a lot of fun in the classroom back in those days. Not everyone will love poetry, but most can come to appreciate it, if given a little insight into how and why it is written.
Thank you, Paul, for beautifully singing this lovely song. Your playing was superb. Thank you for telling us the origin of this song. Caesura does make some poems more effective. Language Arts was one of my favorite classes; I'm glad to learn it's what you taught. 😊
Thanks, Robin! That's cool to know. I have always been a very left-brained person. I can do math but don't like it. Pap was unusual in that both sides of his brain seemed to be equal. He loved reading and math equally.
Thanks for sharing. Your version of this song is beautiful. Well done. Merry Christmas to you and your family. May your new year be filled with love and joy.
You're so right, Paul, about the impactful message of "Pretty Paper." To achieve maximum impact it begs to be presented simply, without embellishment, and you absolutely nailed it. Excellent choice for this busy time leading up to Christmas! 👍🎄
Well done Paul! First and foremost I loved your rendition of this song and your thoughtful analysis. Roy would have been proud. What really amazes me is how in the world did you keep elementary school students interested and focused on this subject. That is a true testament to your teaching ability. Peace be with you Paul! I certainly will spending a bit more time analyzing your narrative there is certainly a lot more to learn than meets the eye. Merry Christmas! Warmly, Esme’♥️🌟💚

Kathleen, thanks so much! Glad that you are enjoying the CD! I sure enjoyed making it with Pap! Here's something you might find interesting. The triangular instrument that you can see standing upright behind me in some of the videos (on top of the reel to reel player) is the instrument that I played at the beginning and end of What Child is This on the CD. :-)
@@BlindPigAndTheAcorn Yes, I can hear it! What is the name of the instrument? I revisited the "Beautiful Morning Glory" video to take a closer look at it. I tried to look it up but don't know what it is. At the beginning of What Child, it sounds like it's being plucked, like the autoharp on your wall.
