  • A new album from outlaw country legend Waylon Jennings will be released this September, filled with recordings the icon made during the last few years before his death in 2002. Jennings spent hours in a recording studio with his longtime accompanist, Robby Turner and together they laid down twelve tracks using just Waylon's guitar and vocals and Turner's bass. All songs were personally selected by the country star, ones that resonated in a deeply personal way and reflected his state of mind, his passions, and important statements he wanted to make about his life. The duo planned out the future instrumentation that would be added to the tracks, but Jennings was never able to complete them. 10 years after his passing, Turner returned to the recordings, finishing each song to honor Waylon's vision of what would turn out to be his very last album. Bringing in musicians who had long worked with Waylon, such as Reggie Young, Richie Albright and tour mate Tony Joe White, Turner painstakingly created the album that Waylon set out to make. "Waylon knows he's surrounded by friends and all that hear this will feel as if they know Waylon in all his authenticity," explains his widow, country singer Jessi Colter. With his family's blessing, Goin' Down Rockin': The Last Recordings of Waylon Jennings will be available on September 25 (Saguaro Road Records). No one has ever heard these performances before; they are Waylon's last gift to his fans.
Saguaro Road Records' Senior Vice President, Retail, Mike Jason explains, "I remember when Waylon was revolutionizing country music and when we heard about these recordings, I knew we had to have them. To me, this is classic Waylon music every bit as good as his '70s classics but his singing bears a vulnerable and deeply personal touch. Waylon still has many fans, but with these recordings I'm confident that we'll introduce him to a new generation in the same way that Johnny Cash's last recordings found him an entirely new audience."
Jennings wrote 11 of the 12 songs that appear on the new album, a testament to the personal nature of the recordings, and they reveal an artist in the midst of a final creative peak. In addition to his own songs, the album includes Tony Joe White's "Goin' Down Rockin'" (on which White himself is a guest). In all, the album will feature eleven songs that have never been released before.
One of the all time greatest country music vocalists, Jennings was also the founder of the Outlaw movement, received two Grammy Awards, and multiple Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards. 11 of his albums hit #1 on the country charts, with 16 #1 singles. In all, 54 of Jennings' albums have charted and more than 100 singles cracked the country and pop charts. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
Goin' Down Rockin': The Last Recordings of Waylon Jennings Tracklisting:
    1. Goin' Down Rockin'
    2. Belle of The Ball
    3. If My Harley Was Runnin'

I've always been a fan of Waylon's music. How cool would it be to be talented enough to have been in his company and the company of his fellow musicians. All these guys had and or have incredible talent.

I can't begin to thank you (Robby Turner, Reggie Young, Richie Albright, Tony Joe White, and Saguaro Records) enough for bringing Waylon's music back out to us, his fans and the public who has yet to know him. It is more than I could have ever hoped for or imagined. What a living tribute and gift you are giving to all of us and to Waylon. Best belated birthday present I could ever have...I'm goin' down rockin too when its time but I'm gonna be the Belle of the Ball first.

I spent a early morning with Waylon. A few years before his death. We had one thing in common Texas. That's were we started. For the next few hours. I met the man his humor his fury an passion. Terry told me what to expect. He an Terry changed my life and the life's of other veterans by what they did that day.
I have been almost obsessed with his life's work over the years. Mostly because he took the time to ask me about my life. I read his book before I met him and told him so. Terry and I are the same age. So with him it was like a older wise man getting to know me and sharing wisdom. A man has to apreacieat that. And I have. And do more each day. Thank you for doing these recordings and the heart felt words they touched me. I could hear in your words the wise old man I met.

You spent time with Waylon!? I really hate you!! I'm joking if course. Like you I became obsessed with all things Waylon. His biography really changed my life, his struggles with with addiction mirrored my own and it was so inspiring that someone as great as Waylon faced the same stuff we all do. He was so honest and transparent about it without ever falling into the " look at me" syndrome. I love the fact that whenever I hear about someone who met him, they all say that he was just the nicest guy and enjoyed actually "listening" to people.

Bob Collins wow! How lucky you were to spend time with my hero. I just finished Terry's book about life with his dad. Waylon was very much a human being, flawed, complex, kind, and of course brilliant. Because Waylon was flawed ( and very transparent about it) his dignity and legend remains intact. You should really talk more of that great meeting ( without of course revealing stuff that would hurt the family. ...not that you would ). As time goes on, Waylon's legacy just seems to grow. Upon his passing, Waylon's death somehow was overshadowed by John's passing. Nashville just never has fully forgiven him for "bucking" the system but as new country seems to have gone back to the over produced slick and popy sound that Waylon railed against we true fans thirst for anything Waylon. Share your stories! !! .....with respect Tommy

      Thank you Tommy.
There is a little more. My older daughter was with me that day. Terry when I told him she was going he said good dad would never be and asshole around kids.what he said before he knew she was there was like this.
"Tell them motherfuckers this is my house. And if they dont want to do it where I say they can get the fuck out of my house."
The film crew I hired pushed his button. I chewed the director out went to kickos snd bought poster paper and sharpees. When we returned Waylon invited into the kitchen he offered me breakfasts I drank coffee. And we talked. At some point Jessi came down. She was in a terry cloth robe with a tore pocket bed hair and that large smile. She said did that old fart offer you anything. Lol Waylon ask her to show me around so he could viset with my daughter. Wow I was treated like family are a good friend.
I'll have to admit Terry and I had worked on that project for many months. When Waylon started repeating the lines Terry for the most part wrote. I became silently emotional and walked outside to gather my self up.
That day leveraged a bill passed by the then President Clinton. No mention of why it was passed it just happened.
I know why. This isnt the place to go into that. However many Veterans including myself are better off now then before.
Yes I'm for ever grateful to both Father an Son.
      Have a great evening
      God bless you

Tells Robby to bring his bass over , not his steel guitar. Bass adds so much feelings to a song, though most peoples ear is not really listening for it, and he is really good at it.

To Leonardo de la Paor: why go on this site if your just going to post vile, obscene filth. People are here to talk and share about a musician that we all admire. You have a right to your opinion but this is not the forum for that stuff. There are lots of political sites where you say whatever you want, we just want to listen to great music and share stories. You seem like you just want to fight and offend, fine, just do it in the right place.
