I FINALLY re-found this video of yours. I plan to make my own in a month or so!! Thank You for what you do and for taking the time to show the world some neat tricks of the trade. See ya soon & ttyl!!
Been watching videos on these all morning. So far this is my favorite design. Don't know how i missed this video when you uploaded it. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic! Hard to beat a good cigar and chainsaw! At 8:25, what is the blue tool you used? Looks like some type of jig. With regards from Colorado. Roger
Hi, it's a under hanging vise. If you search on amazon on 'woodworkings vise' you'll see them. Depending on the bench, it does not stick out which is sometimes an advantage. All the best, D.
Thank you! That pull knife is and oldie, bought it from and old woodworker when he retired. No idea if he made it himself or bought it from a blacksmith.
When he was cutting into the log, the vertical lines with the chain saw? He could've made the cuts more narrower, from the first cuts. Enabling the Swiss ax, to cut more pieces and finishing quicker!
Nice video, thanks. Except for the fun involved in creating such a thing, are there any benefits compared to all the equipment that you already have, if you want to use to carve some wood?
Thanks! Yes, for me there is an additional benefit. The benchvises have cant open more then 15cm, and for a bowl you want something bigger. And the main reason is that it is mobile. I do most work outside cause of the better light and fresh air. I could also put it on the terras, or take it by car somewhere, just take the legs out and its easy to put it in the car for example. And then as last thing, it looks good :-)
Hi, honestly I don't know about birch. I just used what I had laying around. If it would have been birch, i would've used that. To help any wood to prolong its life time you could oil it for example. But some good wood that does not decay easily is for example Cedar, Redwood, Acacia, Black Locust and a few more. Just go for it ans good luck
DIY AtoZ Hi, the benefit is that it wont crack due to drying, it’s quite stable then. This piece was outside under a roof for almost 3 years. No direct sunlight, no rain or snow, but it was exposed to the tempuratures. Better would be inside, but I didn’t have place for it.
Well, you could always ask him i guess. Or just go at it with the dimensions you need depending on what kinda projects you intend to make, keeping in mind the height of yourself, and the available tools.
You won the bet, he is indeed quite populair with the neighbours. Trivia question, did you know that at 17.00 hours during winter time, it's already dark?

BluegrassBushcraft Thanks Mr Bluegrass :-)
Well done and great design. Good for working outside, however, I would add sandbags to the base or plant the legs in the ground to keep it from moving
@@kcirful hi, for me planting it would not be good, i have very little space so it gets moved around a lot, but the sandbag idea is great, thanks !
Cigar & Chainsaw! The manliest man that ever manned!
Thanks :-)
Thanks Master for the good ideas!
Thank you !
Awesome job on the build man! It turned out well!

Those old skis 🎿 looked great! 😊 Have you done a video on them yet?
Great free useful tool ya got made right there. Might give that a build myself when I get the chance......good stuff.
hunt4fish Do it :-) It’s very useful when you want to make bowls, kuksa’s snd so on.

Haven’t seen one mad with a woodworker’s vice at the end....novel idea. Thanks
Thank you too!

I enjoyed watching this. Good shit. Cheers. 🍺🍺
Is that a home made pull knife?
Thank you! That pull knife is and oldie, bought it from and old woodworker when he retired. No idea if he made it himself or bought it from a blacksmith.
thats super awesome thanks for sharing
Thanks !
Cant decide which gave off the most smoke, the forstner bit and drill or the cigars. Nice bench but a shame it bounces round the floor a bit in use.
gbwildlife uk It’s not a very heavy bench, but it’s fine for the standard carving. For using my drawknife i prefer using my benchvise
Great work on video mate
Good idea
Thank you
When he was cutting into the log, the vertical lines with the chain saw? He could've made the cuts more narrower, from the first cuts. Enabling the Swiss ax, to cut more pieces and finishing quicker!
That would have been an option, but he chose from several different options to do it this way.

To each is own! 👍
Great video. Any reason you stepped the underside on one end but not the other? Just curious. Need to make one now.
John Smyth Hi, i did that so i could mount the vise there.
Love that vice!
Thanks!
That was awesomeness

@@dabberty Thanks for the reply. Makes sense :)
Excellent, can't wait to make one myself, but I have so many questions.
Is there no problem using birch outdoors, rotting faster than other woods?
Hi, honestly I don't know about birch. I just used what I had laying around. If it would have been birch, i would've used that.
To help any wood to prolong its life time you could oil it for example. But some good wood that does not decay easily is for example Cedar, Redwood, Acacia, Black Locust and a few more. Just go for it ans good luck
Nice! Do you use the vice at the end like a shavinghorse?
Marco Jordan thats the plan indeed for small stuff. For bigger stuff i still have to make a real shave horse :-)
Mooi werkstuk.
Nice work, but if it were me I'd use heavier legs. More stable
Ok
I think you whould like to live in sweden, lot of space and wild life.Welcome.
It's a very interesting country, been there 2x times for a hike already. Definitly will go there more.
Seasoned?
DIY AtoZ yes, it’s written around 15 seconds into the video. It means it was outside for a couple of years, drying slowly.
@@dabberty Nice is drying slowly means you didn't place wood in direct sunlight, right?
@@dabberty can u tell me what's the benefit of seasoned wood?
DIY AtoZ Hi, the benefit is that it wont crack due to drying, it’s quite stable then. This piece was outside under a roof for almost 3 years. No direct sunlight, no rain or snow, but it was exposed to the tempuratures. Better would be inside, but I didn’t have place for it.

Seasoned oak: a little pepper a dash of salt and a sprinkle of vinegar
wish i had that kind of privacy round here
Who knows what the future has in store for you :-) Have a great week!
@@dabberty You too mate!
Gosto deste vídeo
Muito bacana, mas poderia não desperdiçar tanta madeira.
what is this an example of the worlds dullest chainsaw?
Not really, check the title of the video.
And the saw part, it's a skill called carefully sawing. Have a great day!
Tops good needs much heavier legs imo
Yep, it would benefit from heavier legs
It would have been nice to get dimensions from him, how long a log, diameter, cuts etc.., even Approximations
Well, you could always ask him i guess. Or just go at it with the dimensions you need depending on what kinda projects you intend to make, keeping in mind the height of yourself, and the available tools.
It looks easy enough to just use your imagination
Muito bom, estou pra fazer um baseado neste seu modelo.

EXCELLENT JOB ! WITH YOUR PERMISSION: GIVING UP TO SMOKING WOULD BE A PLUS SINCE YOU ARE STILL YOUNG AND HANDSOME.
THANKS.
Thank you! I have reduced the amount of cigars a lot already since last year.just occasionally one now..
So sweet. Smoke, smoke, smoke. Hahaha
