I strapped and clipped the Zoleo at two points but to the same strap on my backpack. The strap came undone in all the bush bashing! I still want to have the device on the outside of my pack so I can receive messages from home. In the future I will clip and strap it to two seperate straps on my backpack to avoid this issue. I believe I could have found it if I spent a bit more time searching I narrowed it down to a 1 km section, but sadly didn't have the time to find it. I hope to go back one day. I have been loving my Zoleo device as I can check in with home and make sure everything is ok - I also like the ability for home to message me if there was any trouble I needed to get back for. I have since got a second zoleo and they instantly switched my plan to the new device. I have set up breadcrumb tracking on this new device so that if I was to loose it I will be able to see where it is.
You were spoilt with that divine dinner of lamb chops and homemade gourmet salad. The sound of the birds first thing in the morning sounded so beautiful. Thanks for sharing Kate.
Campfire lamb chops are the absolute best! Great trip Kate and a great location with an awesome sun rise. Presumably you had to carry all the water you needed as well! The bush bashing looked like a challenge. Shame about the Zoleo
Awesome video Kate. That campsite, dinner and campfire looked amazing. Jules is a camping masterchef!! Such a bummer about the Zoleo. I'll add a 2nd clip to mine I think. Glad to hear you replaced it. PS loved the vivos making an appearance 😊
I did a trip to the northern point across the valley from you last year, and it was just as brutal from the looks! Those fires have really invigorated the bushland. Totally worth it though, it was one of my favorites!
another nice one Kate . those fires of 2020 make for some hard going bush bashing these day . I think the pink tags are a good thing , keeps the human activity localised rather than carving new paths and treading on delicates everywhere . amazed how much this looks like the blue mtns although i think its further south going by some of the plant species i saw ?
Yeah it was very rough in sections. Yes I think I agree re flagging but I have seen some places where they have gone overboard. I wonder who is doing some of it. I know Parks and hiking groups do a bit but this area is not very popular and it would take a long time to mark and there was a lot of twigs cut - would have taken hours of not days. but yes having a clear small path is much better than everyone trampling vegetation all over the area. Yep we were down in Morton NP. love that park but im so keen to get up north sometime too.
I enjoyed the food series but it's good to see you back on (er, off!) track. So pretty on the cliff tops. And 'You didn't buy it from Ainslie IGA' really tickles my funny bone.
Hahaha thanks mate - yeah my fam loved that comment too. have a big backlog of hikes to edit and get out and I'm working on a gear vid. Man wish i could quit my day job hahaha
If that's where I think it is the fires have certainly hepled with the scrub bashing. A couple of times I've headed off that trail just to get a glimpse into the Gorge and given up due to impenetrable scrub. And that's even using satellite images to hop between clearings! Have you read Paddy Pallin's book "Never Truly Lost"?
So cool. Yeah some bits are better than others. I haven’t read it but I have read accounts of their amazing crossing of this gorge back before proper transport, sat images and maps. Would have been such an adventure back then. Cheers
What an amazing cliff top campsite Kate. I think Ive watched a vid of yours before from this same area? If the Zoleo is waterproof, you may find it on another trip out there?

So cool - yes I have been meaning to get out to the other side one day. Happy hiking
The hiking girlies need to know if campfire chef Jewels is single?!?! Such a great vid and a corker of a campsite.
Sadly he is taken. But I’m keen to get him out on many more trips
snakes here we go!

Thanks Sam yes I do go to that area a bit so will be keen to get back out there and have another look. Happy hiking to you
Good ol' goon bag - don't leave home without it!
Haha it’s a great addition and doubles as a very noisy pillow
@@KateGrarock If you've drunk the contents, a noisy pillow won't keep you awake. 🥴
@@CatsAreTheBestPeople-mm1fo haha so true
Bugger about losing your PLB Kate. Can Jules come camping with me next? I love lamb. 😂🤣
everyone needs a Jules :)
@@KateGrarock 😅😂🤣
Blue Mountains?
Further south in Morton
Seen it, loved it! Watched it again...
Thanks a million mate
Are you from the east or west coast?
I’m from the east but got west a bit for work

Yes the highs and lows of it hey. The lamb certainly made the lost zoleo hurt less.
