This is probably the longest time that it ever took me to make a video! I wanted to make a mould of my third play button ever since I received it 3 years ago but other things kept getting in the way. I'm so glad I finally managed to complete this! By the way, I haven't abandoned Cute Life Hacks but leaving it dormant until I have more time to make videos. At the moment I can only make 1 video per week and it makes sense to keep all of those on one channel to appease TH-cam's algorithm. Once Isabelle goes to kindergarten next year I will be able to do a lot more! I fully intend to revive CLH so there isn't symbolism in taking apart that button for this video ;)

I think it's cute how these different channels incorporate the button into their content that got them it in the first place whether its breaking into it, redesigning it themselves, or making a squishy of it.

I don't the see glitter changing colors. It seems like it changes color when it changes the direction to look at it, not due to the sun light
my guess is that this iridescent glitter, both direction and sunlight can affect it (basing it on Holo Taco's unicorn skin colleciton)
Sunlight is more dispersed so it shows more of the color shift than direct studio lighting would

The glitter settling has less to do with the quantity and more to do with the size and weight of the glitter particles in comparison to the viscosity of the gel. You need to use a superfine (smaller) glitter to get it into suspension, not less glitter.

Why don’t you use alginate or silicone for mold making? It’s cheaper than the putty!
Might not be as readily available in her area, meaning it could actually be more expensive. And alginate only makes temporary molds typically, and I believe it's better for plaster projects. Not to mention, I'd like to mention this putty IS a form of Silicone. It's just the 2 parts are already semi solid before mixing instead of the more liquid form. It's probably also partially a preference of hers since she's consistently used this form of silicon putty with other projects that need a mold, and they worked with her squishy material.

idk if anyone else has said this hut if you end up using the same mold for resin please dont use it to make anything edible like chocolate! make a new mold instead, the chemicals left over from the squishy resins/hardening resins will stain the mold you used and WILL transfer over to anything edible you make 😭

Have you ever tried liquid two part silicone to make molds? It makes it so much harder to mess up the mold that way. Also maybe let the squishy set up a little bit before adding glitter. You you let it harden some, then it won’t all sink to the bottom, because the liquid becomes too thick for it to sink. You just have to be careful and experiment to get in that perfect time frame between too liquid and too solid

Buy a pack of those small oil paint tubes & mix with clear silicone caulking to make an easy silicone based paint that will stick to the squishies. You have to be careful & it’s best for things you aren’t handling excessively (not as safe as acrylic paint) but it looks a lot better & lasts longer
