2:16- 2:24 Great, beautiful movement and adds much to the video. Parkour is so versatile and dynamic and can be combined with Arts not even just of the movement. Poetry, spoken word, music, Parkour has many applications of its philosophy.Great video Generations!
I miss the old Parkour Generations videos. The ones where Stephan and pals would talk about the camaraderie, about searching for locations and exploring their possibilities, about repeating a move hundreds of times to perfect it. They showed that there is hard work and lots of training behind the moves, and showed their failed attempts. It was inspirational for the rest of us who were also failing and kept us encouraged to keep going. They would speak to the camera and give their thoughts on what parkour is and what the traceur can learn about themselves by practicing. This new style is just a highlights reel, overproduced and slick, removed from the process. Seems to promote passively watching others, where the old ones promoted getting out and training.
+Scott Hohl though ill admit, its hard for me to comment, not growing up during the first generation of practitioners and so these original videos youre talking about, Im still going to have a go. That old style of documenting training (at least from Parkour Generations) I could imagine is reserved for classes more or less with chainstore.Furthermore that style may work fantastically for people who are new to parkour (who were in their many back then, showing the need for those videos) but theres nothing more motivating to an experienced Traceur than a display of interesting and unique movement, often captured on these "Highlight reels". Maybe to someone who lacks the self motivation to train (not saying you do) these types of videos may not have the effect of motivation. To someone with the experience and eye to see these moves and say "Hey that looks fun, I could try that and/or develop on it", these types of films are nothing but motivating. Nothing here I said was to cause offense, feel free to point out if I did and I will immediately apologise but I felt the need to defend these styles of videos
