@@anthonymusto3537 .....watch this and then watch elliott playing it, it has absolutely nothing to do with a capo. elliott plays the entire song by picking and strumming hybrid. this is the "easy" mode.
Its so sad, most of the people in the audience probably had no idea what they were witnessing. Josh did an excellent job, his voice fits the song perfectly.
Basically the way I learnt about him when in high school in Russia was by watching Good Will Hunting and googling the soundtrack. Pretty much the only possible way back then. Dunno, maybe now it's different.
Easily the most productive musician of my generation. For every album he’d record 24+ studio tracks he’d leave off half. That New Moon release covers his first two albums, but Universal still has at least 20+ mixed and mastered studio tracks they haven’t put out yet, (the new deluxe of XO and Figure 8 has a handful, but not the cream of the crop. Stickman, Taking a Fall, Dancing in the Highway, Abused,.... those are honestly some of his best work in my opinion, the 4 disc “Grand Mal” bootleg his friend put out is still out there, and most of it’s unreleased studio material. Some live stuff he never got around to recording like “you make it seem like nothing.”
This was RIDICULOUSLY on point. His voice mimics Elliott so well. I'm amazed. I never thought I'd see something like the Chili Peppers covering Elliott. Josh is the man!! Hope he covers him too in Mexico City when I go see them

I am incredibly happy that John is back in the band, but sometimes I wish I could have seen RHCP with Josh. He is such an incredible guitarist and seeing something like this would have immediately brought me to tears. Also, hearing songs from One hot minute, The getaway, and I’m with you live is a dream of mine, lol.
The more I see of him, and his solo songs that he performs, it's become so clear that Josh is such a perfect successor for John--as much as I love Froosh. No one was going to be "better" than John, but Josh does such a good job of offering a fresh, new angle to this band, and he's just so good in his own way; I LOVE this.
Adebimpe77 fresh new angle? He is, especially here, a carbon copy of John. Which is fine with me because frusciante is the man. I'm not sure his job is to be fresh but more to be John lol
@@AudibleVisibIe I don't see that at all. Josh's playing is different, he sounds different, and he has a different input on records. If they were trying to make him a replacement John, it would fail because he is not John. Slovak was great as well, but like Dave Navarro said, John is just the perfect fit for that band, and honestly, Josh has been growing his own style with each record they release. You can hear he is more confident and just being himself. The only thing that's similar is that he has some pedals that John used, and that's about it. He uses a Marshall Major and a Fender Twin, so his tone sounds different. If they wanted him to be John, wouldn't they make him use all of John's amps, pedals, and force him to sing falsetto for every single back up vocal? People really don't understand that things change and that's life. If Josh copied John, no would complain about the difference in sound that is very apparent.
I didn't think I'd like him at first, but the more he shows himself, the more I come to love him. He's incredible and more than a fill for John's shoes.
Chili peppers have always been my favorite band. Iwas so sad when John left, and thought they could never have another guitarist that could touch your soul like him... then i saw this video, and i gained massive amounts of respect for Josh. Elliott smith got me through a lot of really hard times. He taught me that no matter how bad it gets there are reasons to keep pushing on, and his music got me through my dark times. Josh does the best elliott cover i have ever heard, and this cover just blew me away! So glad i stumbled by this video:)
You should listen to "Late" by Ben Folds, it's about Elliot's death. One of the lines is literally "The songs you wrote got me through a lot". Seems like you could appreciate it.
Same here. Pleasantly surprised that he's a fan of Elliott's music. I already knew that Josh was a very talented musician (knew him from some of the solo work he did with John) but nobody can replace the talent, passion and pure emotion of John Frusciante in my opinion.
A year later, I'll just respond with a suggestion to check out this girl who does a harp (yes, harp) cover of Twilight. Ethereal and amazing...really captures the compositional talent Elliott had, to hear it in that context.
