Make sure the middle pattern the hip and waist are of the same measurement. Don't shape the middle one.

It's an individual preference. That's how wide you want the down to be. Please watch again and you will understand.

The best thing is to measure from your waist to your knee and deduct 2 inches from it. Or measure to where you want the shape to start from.
