- Erik Satie
Éric Alfred Leslie Satie (17 May 1866 - 1 July 1925), who signed his name Erik Satie after 1884, was a French composer and pianist. Satie was an influential artist in the late 19th- and early 20th-century Parisian avant-garde. His work was a precursor to later artistic movements such as minimalism, repetitive music, and the Theatre of the Absurd.
An eccentric, Satie was introduced as a "gymnopedist" in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous compositions, the Gymnopédies. Later, he also referred to himself as a "phonometrician" (meaning "someone who measures sounds"), preferring this designation to that of "musician", after having been called "a clumsy but subtle technician" in a book on contemporary French composers published in 1911.
In addition to his body of music, Satie left a set of writings, having contributed work for a range of publications from the dadaist 391 to the American culture chronicle Vanity Fair. Although in later life he prided himself on publishing his work under his own name, in the late 19th century he appears to have used pseudonyms such as Virginie Lebeau and François de Paule in some of his published writings.

When I listen to these songs, i feel comfortable and relieved.
Surprisingly, these songs let me remind past time.
Really? These songs always make me weep like a little bitch 😢
This is played perfectly. Every note should count but not sound like a child trying to show her teacher that she's hitting the right notes.
Simply one of the most beautiful, if not pensive, piano pieces of all time...
Gymnopedie 1 0:01
Gymnopedie 2 3:49
Gymnopedie 3 7:05
Ce n'est pas la musique qui nous rend tristes, mais la musique nous aide à faire face à la tristesse qui existe déjà.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
My favorite classical pieces...
Those are my favorite too
he composed this wonderful music while he was living in a room and not going anywhere. just recluse in his home.
Gav Leo sounds familiar!

Ahh the Velvet Gentleman at his most melancholy, gotta love it!!!!
No 3 is the saddest most beautifully melancholy piece I've ever heard
wow que hermosa melodía. mil gracias por compartirnosla.
What a great song to relax the mind. Once nightfall arrives , there you are just thinking.
Food for my Soul!
I love this piece and am working on it now! ❤❤❤
I started to play Gymnopedie 1, on the piano, after watched a video in which Brazilian pianist Lord Vinheteiro talked about the author, and played the piece.
When I started to play, I didn’t consider the piece so interesting, but when the days gone away, I’ve started to change my consideration. Now, Satie and the Gymnopedie 1 are very beautiful. It’s a pleasure to play it on the piano.
I’m considering to play the others Gymnopedie, and also the Gnossiennes.
Stupenda!!! Grazie
So relaxing am I right 🌸💐💆🏻♀️
Uma das melhores musicas de todos os tempos e ninguem sabe nem se lembra.
Una beldad esta obra. Fascinante.
No.1 is the most popular but I like the second best.
What a legend!
I wonder what it is about Satie's Gymnopedies, particularly No. 1, that make them so beloved.
I guess it's because this music portraits so well melancholia, which most of us can relate to.
I Agree
Aarif Farooq the 7+ chord
In its simplicity, it offers complexity within us. That complexity being all these feels that i just cant hold all at once.
Aarif Farooq I don't believe this pieces popularity is surprising at all. Think about how much in modern society minimalism is valued; people tend to prefer the simple, yet professional styles in almost all facets. This piece epitomizes simple, unadulterated beauty and indifference, and the average man or woman couldn't relate to these themes more.
Maravilloso, siento la paz!
this is in my heart
the best
This is a music to my soul!❤️❤️❤️
Hermoso!
This is the first version i've found that's actually played with feeling. The rest feel like they're made by machines. I dunno. Maybe this one was too.
There is a portrait drawing of Eric Satie by Pablo Picasso - which provides a time-frame of their existence. But I prefer to hear the sparceness (if that's English) of the notes as a version of Seurat's pointalism even though it was fifteen years earlier.
7:05 ❤️
I always feel a strange yet sweet meloncholia when I hear this
Wonderfull❤
Immenso
Excelente 🤗
Just fall asleep a bit.
Amazing! An example of extreme formalization in music, a final step to prepare cadaver for funeral. Wheee!
Sleep again.
its nice and slow and the notes are dragged or extended, like its played underwater
on gymnopedie 1 im suffocating! its beauriful, but i feel like the air in my lungs is not enough to keep up with the pace
OMG THATS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT
Emouvant à souhait, profond, sensible. un morceau génial.
Lindíssima
Is this an actual recording of Satie playing his own Gymnopedies from over a hundred years ago ?!
no, wax recordings were barely a thing when the 1900's hit and the quality is laughable compared to today's standards. This is another pianist preforming his piece.
Is this a serious question?
@@abramsez8268 what happnd? He doesnt know much
The first time I listened to this piece was in Digimon adventure
I guess I am the only one who loves the 2nd one most

Who is the pianist that plays this here?
Parece uma aula as três assim em sequência 💙
Na verdade fazia parte de estudos dele! O que reforça a teoria de que sem a cobrança de gravadoras a pessoa se torna mais criativa!
Valeu aí por postar as músicas pra nós cara
