Even years later this video is still reaching and helping new people. I'm not new to this channel or crochet but first time I'm considering a backing on a blanket. Thanks Mikey.
I'm adding a fleece blanket to the backside of my crochet blanket I am doing for a friend. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I've been looking for someone who could teach me how to properly do this. THANKS AGAIN MIKEY!!!!!!!!!!
I have never seen skip cutters before! After seeing this video I ordered mine so I can start putting fleece backing on a baby blanket I'm currently making! AMAZING!!!
Thanks so much for this. I used this to put a backing on an afghan my grandmother made that was itchy and had a lot of double crochet stitches with big openings. This solved both issues and I’m actually happy to use it instead of keeping it out of obligation. This method is the best I’ve seen in my thorough web searches.
The cutting tool gave me a great idea! I make crochet tote bags and I add a fabric liner to them. My hand-sewing skills are horrible and I can't create a straight line to attach the liner to the inside of the bag. I think the skip cutter will be a great way to keep my lines straight. So glad that you created this video, Thank You, Mikey!
this video was made at the right time. I am going to crochet and knit a blanket for my two year old grandson. I wanted to put fleece on the opposite side. Thank you, Crochet Crowd.
This is awesome thank you so much I’m making a Princess Peach C2C blanket (guess who taught me C2C lol) and now it will be backed by fleece. Thank you so much.
My mother and I make charity blankets and scarves using fleece with a crocheted edge. We have struggled with the skip cutter when we get to the edge of the cutting mat. I LOVE your cardboard idea!! I will plan so use that next time. Also, if you do much rotary cutter work, and you worry about cutting yourself, you can get a protective glove for the hand holding the ruler. I have seen them on a quilting show so I'd you don't find them with the cutters they may be with quilting tools. Thanks for the great tutorials!
I love The Crochet Crowd so much!!! Y’all make steps so clear and concise. I’ve learned and will continue to learn so much about crochet which I didn’t know even after 4 years of (self-taught) crochet experience! I learn something new all the time from y’all! Thank you so much! I expect I’ll be learning something new in crochet 20 years from now since there is so much and so many different stitches! Haha! 😂 Best Regards, Sue Patterns to Pretty
one of the "AHA" moments. Been wanting to learn this. Just made a blanket for my grandson and was wanting to attach some fleece so it will keep it's shape and this is the answer. Thanks so much.

Excellent I about to finish my crochet project and then I will add the fleece. Some parts were a little difficult to see how you did it but I will watch this video many times as need it thank you for your help 😘👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Mikey for this tutorial. I am currently working on a blanket for my daughter and I was thinking of ways to make it warmer. This makes it perfect. You guys never disappoint with your wonderful videos.
A proper quilting ruler would be easier to use. They're wider and you can see through them. They should be located near the rotary cutters in the quilting supplies.
Wish I would of had this tutorial a few weeks ago. Because I was worried about having that big gap between the two pieces, I took double sided pellon and fused the two pieces together before adding the border. Well live and learn they say. Now I know what to do next time!! Thanks Mikey!!
I would match up my corners and midpoint before crocheting them together, and I would pin the fleece to the crocheted piece before putting the stitch in the middle. Like in quilting, it keeps the backing smooth.
Thank you so Much this video is great you really explain in detail I've had the materials such as fleece and skip cutter ready to use but really couldn't find a great tutorial to do it so thank you so much. 😊
I don't have a rotary cutter. However, I used a steel hook piercer, which makes holes in the fleece while crocheting. It came out great for someone in a nursing home.😇
I have the straight edge one but definitely going to get the one that put holes in your fleece last night I sewed up on my so machine the yarn in fleece for my daughter big mistake every time I hit a knot my machine stopped working it took me a long time thanks for telling us and haron about the roller that puts the holes in the fleas thank you
Thank you very much this was very interesting. I wanted to add crochet edges to fleece blankets I already have. And I also to other items. I wasn't sure how you got the holes and in order to do it so thank you for that information on the skip cutter. And I've never thought to actually crochet the fleece onto my crochet blanket I've always just hand sewn it on.
Love these videos! Tks so much. Am adding fleece to my knit afghan and the crochet border. My question is. Can the fleece bunch in back on a large piece if washed? Should you add some tacking stitches in back to further keep fleece in place? Tks again. 😊❤
@@MsYorkie007 I would add a couple extra stitches just in case. And I would say to handwash it, wring it out gently then lay flat to dry would be the best method to keep these clean.
Thank you so much for this video, you give fantastic detailed instructions that I appreciate very much. That said, my decades of quilting had me cringing every time you said 'roller cutter'. Just as with crochet, you teach 'correct terms', it is not a 'roller cutter, it is a rotary cutter.... I know this is a small thing, and I hope you don't take it as a 'harsh' complaint, I just could take it anymore (made it 6:40 before commenting ;) )
you're tutorials are so great!! thanks to you i finally learned how to crochet. For this method i was wondering how to add the fleece to a C2C project? cause the "edging is different" can you please tell me how to do add fleece to a C2C grapghan?
This is a wonderful tutorial, just what I was looking for! I was wondering if it would work with any other kind of fabric, like flannel or just like any kind of soft material used to make baby blankets. This may be a silly question but I just want to make sure haha. Thank you!!!
I’m way on the other side of the country, hopefully one day I can make the trip and check out the new digs. Does anyone have tips to being more efficient or faster? I’m such a slow crocheter!
On a portrait graphgan should I cut and tie and apply linen or fabric? I don’t have a sewing machine so is this gonna turn out bad This is my first time doing any of this Any tips for me ? Should I weave ends in or just cut and tie all my stuff and apply a backing???
Can't wait to try this. Thank you SO much. I do have a question We do we get patterns for the crochet patterns we saw on your Cruise videos when I want to Like Disney ones etc
I just made my first blanket and im getting ready to line it. I blocked it and everything to make the edges as straight as possible but the corners aren’t exactly even with everything else since they stretch out and make the sides look like this ( so how would I cut it in the first step? Would I cut it an inch away from the part that’s sticking out the most or an inch away from the part that goes in more. Sorry if this is a silly question or if it doesn’t make sense!
You reckon this would work with flannel as well? I've made an African flower temperature blanket and would like to put a backing on it (because I realllyyyyyy don't want to weave in 1200 ends) but I can't find any place that sells fleece wide enough. The blanket is about 6.5 ft wide and 9 ft long. I've found some flannel at Joann's that's 108" wide so that's what I'll be using.
Do you have to tuck in all the graphghan ends (hundreds of them!) before attaching the fleece? Right now I have the ends tied together to prevent them from unraveling until I'm finished crocheting it but if the ends don't have to be tucked in, I'll just leave them tied and apply the back fleece.
I've been doing these blankets for over two years the issue with the skip cutter which I had so much trouble finding in New Jersey can actually tear fabric all the way across I've ruined soft baby fleece your better off with a different fleece you can tell if it's super stretchy that's not good.

Blessed are the problem solvers....lol. I so enjoyed your video and you made me smile as you worked. Thank you, Sandy
Glad this video helped you.
Just what I needed! Can't wait to try this technique. Love your tutorials!
Mikey I so love you for posting this video. I made a blanket 3 years ago and have been struggling finding a tutorial to add fleece. THANK YOU ☺️
I use a magnet, like those you find among the home canning supplies, to lift the blade. This helps prevent accidently being cut by the blade edge.
this video was made at the right time. I am going to crochet and knit a blanket for my two year old grandson. I wanted to put fleece on the opposite side. Thank you, Crochet Crowd.

This is a much easier technique than what I have been doing (don't ask!?!). Thank you so much!
Thank you for the detailed demonstration.
Great demo, great explanation! Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I have wondered how those projects were done. This video is a keeper!

You are a great teacher! This is exactly what I was looking for.
Living in Alaska, I add fleece to all of my winter blankets, hats and even scarves.
I'm glad you showed me how to do them holes I have been using a ice pick hard on the hanfs
Do you have a video tutorial on the superhero squares?
Yes, I needed this tutorial so bad! Thank you for this.
Thanks so much!!!! I've been looking to attach fleece to a project and this video is perfect!!!!
Your a life saver!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this very helpful detailed video!!!!
Wonderful idea thank you for sharing
That looks like a great idea! I can take a fleece child's blanket and make it "grow" with the child!
Love it! Great job as always Mikey!
Thank you Mikey, for this tutorial! It's perfect for crochet blankets for the Fall or Winter!
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I have always wanted to know how to do this. You're the best Mikey!

Great advice.
love the blanket and the tutorial. Nice job🤗
I'm so excited about this video

Stitch markers might help to evenly attach the front and back. Nice tutorial!
Absolutely.
laurie stewart thanks for the tip
laurie stewart I
I gotta get some of those blades. That's pretty slick. Easier than doing perle cotton blanket stitch first.
I have never done this but I'm gonna try it. This looks awesome! Thanks
Been mulling over getting a rotary cutter for ages, think I've gotta get one now!
I don't have a rotary cutter. However, I used a steel hook piercer, which makes holes in the fleece while crocheting. It came out great for someone in a nursing home.😇
Thank you so much this made my project so much easier. And I’ll look into that project Linus thing too!
Such a great tutorial! Thanks Mikey!!!
Have you done this with a circle?
Thanks for your tutorials I love your style.

you're tutorials are so great!! thanks to you i finally learned how to crochet.
For this method i was wondering how to add the fleece to a C2C project? cause the "edging is different" can you please tell me how to do add fleece to a C2C grapghan?
You can add a single crochet border to the c2c blanket I just finished adding one to mine
This is a wonderful tutorial, just what I was looking for! I was wondering if it would work with any other kind of fabric, like flannel or just like any kind of soft material used to make baby blankets. This may be a silly question but I just want to make sure haha. Thank you!!!
This is great! I worry that my knit, and crochet projects are not warm enough.
Thank you so much. Can you teach us how to add more edges to fleece. I want to donate blankets to our dachshund rescue to sell. I love your teaching!
Virginia Good - I love dachshunds! Where is your rescue? My lil girl Pixie is 14 now! I would like to get her a buddie for when I'm gone to work. Thx!
Really helpful tutorial thanks so much

I love you tutorial. I just. Have a quick question. Can I use the same technique on flannel?
excellent as ever!

We do we get patterns for the crochet patterns we saw on your Cruise videos when I want to
