According to A Course in Miracles, the body is merely a projection of the mind, an unreal effect of an unreal cause (the ego). To keep the belief in separation intact, the ego projects symptoms onto the body. It's goal is to keep the mind from recognizing the problem that it is the MIND (and not the body) that is suffering; to convince it that there is an external problem to be solved. True healing must therefore occur at the level of cause (mind) and not effect (the body).

Awesome Thank you David and Francis.......Ok so about those body symptoms.... and the miracle Jesus offered me as I was enduring the suffering.......I don't recall the chapter its in but basically it where he states all problems, sickness ect are but temptation ..to believe you are what you are not... a body, limited, powerless, weak defenseless, " yield not to this," Jesus says...But say this instead, "I am as God created me. His Son can suffer nothing. And I am God's Son" repeat it over and over...even while the discomfort of the symptoms rage...keep repeating the TRUTH.. IT's the Truth that heals the mind and body..... my painful symptoms began to disappear(after a year of dealing with this) just as Jesus promised. He said this illusion of sickness or problems..will dissolve "like mist before the sun." Jesus does not lie. Its the TRUTH that set us free. I have done this to myself. And this I must undo.
stephanie brown I think i meant to reply to you, and might have posted elsewhere. The prayer I heard, before ever meeting ACIM was “I am not the body, I am free, for I am still as God created me.” Later, i found it, in ACIM. That prayer- i might even call it praise, more properly, really opened up for me, over years... And my “COPD” disappeared.

I have never known what I wanted in life but I did ask for the truth as a child. I still blundered painfully through life not knowing what I wanted.

I have done the Vipassana retreat. It’s more like ten hours a day, with breaks. ten days. I loved it. Nothing to do but sit, and walk from temple to bathroom etc. between sessions, and have beautiful, simple food made for you... It’s quite wonderful, and I totally recommend it . You clear things, because you face them, and just dissolve them. Up at four-ish, getting to bed at about 9:30 pm. Was one of the best experiences of my life. It dissolved a strong pain I used to get across my shoulder-blades, when I would sit to meditate.
How could you manage to sit for long time with your pain? Was it allowed to lie down too? I can't sit for long at all due to my muscle, joint and back pain.
@@bugrist the pain can dissolve trust me. But you’re right, a ten day vipassana retreat might now be a good idea for you at the moment. But trust me, I had so much body pain and discomfort for so many years and the right yoga teacher came into my life when I wasn’t looking for them and I took up their practices which cured me.

Seeking to heal the body only reinforces the belief in the body. "You are not a body" is an important message in the Course.
D C when I was diagnosed with COPD in 2003 or so, I was given a prayer, or mantra... this was before I met ACIM.
i repeated it a lot, even when I had no faith in it... . in other words, i did it with a mustard-seed of faith...
I am not the body, I am free. For I am still as God created me. Well, long story short, several months later. I stopped believing in the diagnosis, and in the grief and guilt and so on, that made up the COPD. I demanded a new x ray, and it showed nothing, where my doctor had preciously told me no one ever reverses COPD... ! I so want people to know they are not the victims of their bodies...
Olhamo wow that is amazing! Did the mantra come from a special teaching? And did you visualize being well and healthy? Would realy like to know more.
@@c.vandenberg1559 that mantra is a phrase from within the Course. You can repeat it but it may remain just a concept. But if you surrender your doubts too, and be open enough to allow the Holy Spirit to come in and change your mind for you (because you can't do it yourself because your mind is the problem), then you will begin to see things differently.
