i don't think they have the desire to be the biggest kpop group during their debut, they just wanted to debut and show their talents. they literally thought blood sweat and tears was their peak 😅 also, their digital footprint was so crazyyyy you will realize they really didn't have any idea that they will be this big today.
Yes Bonus Content only starts at chapter 3 and please watch the episode to the end. The creator put a lot of time and effort into making this series and no time (not even a second) was wasted. The order of release when these came out was Chapter, Deleted Scenes and then Bonus content so to watch them in that order is the closest to the way they were watched originally. I Have many favorite BTS songs but the one I currently go out of my way to listen to is LONELY from RM's INDIGO album.
They were KIDS with dreams and aspirations. Corageous ones to believe in themselves and keep on going despite all the haters. Congratulations to them all for being true to their dreams. 💜💜💜💜💜OT7
It was the first time he was dancing with a micpack cliped to his shorts and the shorts were incapable to hold the weight so they slipped. I have no idea if that happened multiple times or if he had to pull them up constantly during rehersal.
V is BTS's secret weapon, and the company also fears that other companies will take it. He's very talented, a lead dancer, a talented singer, and has the widest vocal range in K-Pop. Also he is the most famous in K-Pop
starting chapter 3, dont forget also the "Bonus content" besides the Deleted scenes (It's possible to do all in one, but if it's too long, don't worry, you can split in 2 video, one with the episode, one with the bonus content and Deleted scenes); And for the question of the day, I can't choose only ONE song, when BTS have so much to offer ! I have a bunch of favorites songs, depending of my mood : hype song for having fun (So What; Seven; Ego; Dynamite;: Permission to dance; That that; ); comfort song when I'm sad (zero o' clok; Mikrocosmos; Tomorrow; Closer than this; Snooze; The Astronaut; Lights; Stay gold) ; inspirational song when I'm lost (Epiphany; Promise; Black Swan; Let Go; Life goes on; Flowerwork; Save me) ; songs for vibing (Like Crazy, Closer to you; Yes or no; Neuron, Wonder; Still Life; Equal sign ) , chill songs to do nothing (Slow dancing; Letter; Love me again; Seoul ) ; emotional songs for feeding my soul and tears (The truth Untold; Your; With you; Shot glass of tears, Abyss; Hate you; The last; Amygdala; Outro:Tear ); songs for shouting when I'm angry (Cyphers 1-4; Haegum; Set me Free; Base line, Hangsang, DDay)... and a lot more LOl ! To be frank , in their whole huge discography, together or solo, I have not yet find one single song that I don't like at all.
BTS wasn’t just getting attacked at the time. Now that they are all away and can’t speak up, there is a concerted effort to destroy them and HYBE. It’s bad! Try watching Boracity Magazine’s latest video. Also Asian Education and Cultiure has a series of videos about what is going on, if you are interested. There are bonus scenes AND deleted scenes. :) V being hidden was a strategy… it generated hype when he was announced. I agree about J-Hope. My knees ache every time I see him do that. Favorite song will probably change in a few minutes but “Stay Gold” is definitely a fav and Jamais Vu. With all that is going on, I just watched “10 times BTS was mistreated” by Asian Entertainment and Culture. Although I’ve seen it before, it was good to watch at this times Just thought I’d share in case anyone else wants to watch.
I'm quite sure that the let's say "eternal teenager" image is what the entertainment industry (not only musical) more sell and sexualize until these days, unfortunately 😞
lol I can’t decide a fav song as I can’t decide my bias😂 I”ll tell you some of my favs: OT7: Telepathy, Mic Drop, Run, Pied Piper, Let go Vocal line: Zero O’clock, The Truth Untold and House of cards Rap line: UGH, Ddaeng and Cypher 3 RM: Persona/Lonely/Wild Flower Jin: Tonight/Epiphany /Awake The Astronaut Suga: August D, Snooze,Daechwita JHope: Arson, Lock/Unlock, More, I wonder Jimin: Filter, With you, Set me Free V: Serendipity, Stigma, It’s definitely you Jungkook: My time, My you, Hate you
Fun fact: In the room full of Post-It Notes when Jimin mentioned his biggest influence being Taeyang from Big Bang… well, Taeyang asked Jimin to do a song with him about 2 years ago called Vibe. It was an awesome song (you should totally react to the MV!), but knowing Jimin was asked to do a song by his biggest idol… 🥰
jimin's early persona in bts content is so strikingly different than how he is now. these days he's so... soft? is that the word? he embraces his cuteness and his androgyny. he's warm, kind of shy, and giggly. seeing his old, muscular, aggressively hypermasculine younger self--it's almost like two different people. watching these old vlogs, plus some later interviews where they talk about it... you get clues as to why. apparently the company originally dictated "roles" for some (or possibly all) of them to play. JK was supposed to be their cute, boyish maknae, for example... which honestly isn't much different from his natural personality, but the company forbade him from working out too much because they thought it would ruin his image if he were too muscular. meanwhile, Jin was told that to enhance his "handsome" vibe, he needed to act cold and maintain a sort of "ice prince" persona. we all know now that this is so completely opposite to jin's true, goofy and dorky personality... but he wasn't allowed to show it back then. that sort of thing. for jimin, you see him say a couple of times in vlogs that his job in the group is "charm," so in other words, he is supposed to be the outgoing and flirty one. remember that the stylists are the ones choosing his outfits, not him. they always had him in less clothes than the others... like, notice he's ALWAYS the guy in sleeveless shirts? also, the choreo in no more dream where he lifts up his shirt wasn't his choice either, and in their first festa (I think?) he talked about how he was really uncomfortable at first when the choreographer told him he had to do it. Though he did also say that he eventually grew to like the attention it got him, so. 🤷🏼♀️ I also just have to point out... jimin is 17 years old in most of this footage. obviously the entertainment industry is... well, you know. but he's still a minor at this point, by our standards AND korea's (he is 19 in korean age, and they are considered legal adults at 20). so the whole thing seems kind of exploitative to me. so yeah. baby jimin being a ho is funny, but also kind of sad.
The ascribing roles was not some abnormal exploitive thing the company did, it’s something common in entertainment culture in many Asian countries actually. From big productions, to small TH-cam channels. Idol culture is not exempt from that. As it is part of their own culture it was not something crazy that the company was forcing them to do through predatory contracts like other companies were doing with other aspiring idols (plastic surgery etc). Those roles are not chosen at random either, I’m sure getting to know these shy teenage boys was a part of it, and in countless early videos you can still see Jimin being the cutesy soft soul that he is. On stage he adopts a rougher look sure, but so do all of them, bc they are in the most important moments to showcase their music/concept and at the time it was students rebelling. Jimin was also not exactly dressing like he does now before he joined BigHit. He was still a teenager exploring and discovering his own identity, ofc he’s gonna look really different now, so does RM who used to wear a lot of black clothes and now loves color specially blue. PLUS they lived in a minuscule apartment and shared their clothes a lot, it’s not like they had space to accommodate the closet of 7 different boys, Jimin even talked abt how suga refused to wear some of Jimin’s clothes, they were literally scrapping by with what they had. Now that have the ability to have their own clothes and styles and no one stops them. When Jin talks abt the change he went through he said “the company told me not”, not “my contract forces me to act a certain way”, the company, wanting them to show an image coherent with their concept of rebellious students (bc that’s what THE MEMBERS wanted to sing/write abt, not something the company came up with and forced on them) they wanted every member to have a role (which is very normal in entertainment there) that fit that. It’s not like their contracts changed from when they debuted to when Jin talked abt that. And they aired that on the channel themselves instead of hiding it, it’s possible Jin just a conversation with them abt it bc it started to bother him and that was that. There’s nuance to these things, specially culturally. BigHit barely had a trainee system in place when the members were joining, they could barely afford vocal lessons for the vocal line who had never sang before. They were literally putting all of their money and investment loans into these 7 boys while letting them have creative freedom over their product which had to sell enough to pay their dues. What happened between those boys and that company (from CEO down to the choreographer) was a miracle. If they had major issues with their company, they would have left.
@@secretyidentity2833hmm... I don't THINK I said there was anything inherently wrong with the company assigning roles to each member. If I did, that wasn't my intention. The only thing I said was kind of, well... eyebrow raising was the fact that a minor was being told to do sexy choreo that made him uncomfortable. If it was a 17 year old girl group member instead of Jimin, wouldn't we be (rightfully) outraged? And no. the members weren't contractually forced to anything. but using once again the example of jimin, this was a guy who was threatened with expulsion from the group like, 8 times in the months leading up to debut. He had NO leverage to make any requests or demands of the company, and probably felt like he had to do literally anything they asked of him. A power imbalance like that will absolutely influence a person's decision making, let's be real. The assigned roles thing though, I mostly just find interesting. I grew up in the US in the 90s, when boy bands were a big thing, and they all had that dynamic. There would be the cute, sweet one. The bad boy. The big brother. The heartthrob. And so on. It's fascinating that BTS secretly had a blueprint kind of like that, that we only know a tiny bit about because it's only been mentioned in passing a few times, and only by a few members. Did the others get assigned a role? I'm so curious.
@@z0feyasaying that the company dictated roles for them does have a negative connotation that doesn’t represent reality. They are not and have never been puppets for their company, in this very video you see Jimin being cutesy and soft all the time I have no idea what you are talking abt when you describe his personality during these days as “hypermasculine” and “aggressive”. He has never acted like that besides performing on stage, bc that’s part of his job, there were also performance were he was sad and emotional…same thing. His personality behind the scenes remained the same. The man literally plays a music box at the end of this video fgs. You also see Jin wearing star sunglasses and holding a Disney princess fan, they are learning and adapting, it’s not like Jimin wasn’t threatened with expulsion from the group, they were all trainees who were competing with each other, they also ranked suga, RM and another trainee at the bottom rank all the time, would you say that they were being threatened too? Yes, it’s understandable the pressure and insecurity that Jimin felt, that is the nature of that environment, it’s not like the company can just pick random people based on their intuitions, they need to literally see the abilities of the trainee to make sure their money isn’t being wasted, and it’s not just one person who decided the members, ofc some had disagreements abt who would fit best in the group, but Jimin had ppl in BigHit’s team fighting for him, including suga and v themselves, but why do think they asked v how he felt abt Jimin joining their team? It’s not like the other member’s opinions and thoughts weren’t being taken into consideration as well which is not something common in the trainee system. And this sense of power imbalance and Jimin being scared of being let go AFTER debut (signed contract) is pure speculation on your part, and not even supported by the financial reality of the company who barely had money to debut, which they got as a last resort investment, they could not afford to just quick jimin out if he refused to lift his shirt after they spent so long and so much money training him. As far as the shirtless dances go, I understand people seeing that as sexualization but being real, they were not being marketed as eye candy for girls like many girl groups with minors are for men until this day…………they had a manly, strength, hiphop image, not exactly the product typical korean girls see as eye candy, being shirtless isn’t necessarily something sexual specially not for men, during his contemporary dance he was also wearing short shorts and was shirtless with a vest for the performance, was that sexualizing a minor? Or is it possible that there are other purposes other than sexualization when showing abs on a stage? Just something to think abt, idk the right answer, but it is something that wasn’t a pattern with every song or with every choreography and it’s in the past now. At the end of the day I think all the members sacrificed themselves for the sake of the team doing well bc they believed in each other and wanted the best for bts, rm and suga left underground rap and their crews, Jin left acting, jhope left Neuron, jk sacrificed his education to some degree, etc I think that’s what motivated Jimin to get through his discomfort, not fear from the company. And like you said, now as a full adult he says that over time he grew to like the attention/comments bc it helped him with his insecurity, I think it’s really unfair to speak over him abt his situation and victimize him of something when he as an adult doesn’t see it that way.
@@secretyidentity2833 Yikes, nothing I've said is untrue, misleading, or in any way negative about the members... if that's your interpretation then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe there's a language barrier here or something, but you're twisting my words in really weird ways. Despite your claims, I never said anything about Jimin's personality, only his PERSONA and how he presents himself in content. I also never said he had an aggressive personality, I called his younger image "aggressively hypermasculine," which is not the same thing at all. And I said it in the context of him being super muscular, as an antithesis to his current androgyny, which I had mentioned like, two sentences previously. 🤦🏼♀️ Earlier, you ranted for like three paragraphs that assigned personas/roles is a totally normal thing in kpop groups and shouldn't be judged. And then in your next post you turn around and say that it has negative connotations and I am apparently implying the members are puppets by bringing it up. So which is it? For anyone who hasn't, I'd recommend watching the 2021 interview with Jimin, J-Hope and Jungkook from You Quiz on the Block. In Jimin's own words, he describes his time as a Big Hit trainee, and how he WAS in fact threatened with expulsion every month. Not sure why you're gaslighting that. OF COURSE Suga and RM weren't facing the same thing. The whole group was built around RM ffs, it's not even a comparable situation. Anyway, the other members' spots in the group were guaranteed by then, which is exactly why they were being consulted for their opinions on Jimin's inclusion. And cmon, seriously? The choreo for no more dream was obviously finalized long before they preformed it at debut. The conversations about whether or not Jimin would do the dance took place while he was a trainee, there's no "pure speculation" about it. That's when he felt uncertain about his place in the group and would have agreed to anything. So you can tell yourself all you like that it was his choice and there was no coercion whatsoever, but that doesn't make it right. The relationship between rookie idols and their company is NOT an equal one, I don't know why you're acting like it is, or pretending like they had true agency in those first few years. No, that doesn't mean they're puppets, Big Hit is not evil, but what leverage do you think the members (especially the non-music producing ones) had? Are we forgetting sister group Glam? Jimin had JUST seen Trinity leave the group abruptly, six months after Glam's debut... most likely forced out by the company because her continued inclusion was damaging the brand reputation. Whether she deserved it or not I have no idea without knowing the full details... but it doesn't matter, she was an example for Jimin (and the other members) that a debuted group at their own company CAN ABSOLUTELY lose contracted members and continue without them. Whatever. Keep defending sketchy things just because they're normal or common in the industry, that's cool. go ahead and justify making a minor feel uncomfortable by exposing his body (whether it's sexual or not doesn't matter, sorry). Just because the members don't publicly denounce some of the things that they had to do or sacrifice for the progression of their careers... honestly that doesn't mean much because they never would, it's not in their nature to complain. It would be not only ungrateful, but also insane considering they have to maintain those working relationships. And they are definitely not stupid.
@@z0feya Not sure whom you are trying to gaslight. Yourself? That are two different things: the cut *before* they locked the debutline and signed contracts and a kick *after* with a signed contract. Some people were unsure if Jimin would learn what was necessary to debut. He came about a year (not quiet) after Taehyung to the group and was first trained to rap before Yoongi suggested he should sing. The contract was not signed at their debut showcase. That Jimin would debut was decided back in december 2012 maybe early 2013 at the latest. That he was in pre-debut content alone was a confirmation - one of the reasons why Taehyung was afraid if they really ment to debut him was that he was not in it. You seem to forget that they debuted Jimin as a lead vocal and main dancer. Taehyung debuted "only" as a vocalist and Jin as a vocalist and visual. And we know from Rookie King how often choreo changed before it was locked down. Watch T&D were they talk how fast Jimin learned to change how he danced. It was remarked to him that he danced wrong and needed to change it and at an evaluation a month later he had. That is extremly fast. The trouble was that no one knew when they would debut and when Jimin came in the rest was actually debut ready. The debut just took time because of (to me) unknown circumstances. The members had agency - some more than others maybe - but they did. Agency does not mean that you can do whatever you want. That is a serious missunderstanding. A lot of stuff was necessary - including showing Jimin's abs - because Big Hit debuted them while having a debt of ca. 75 million USD and no way to pay for that anytime in the future soon. They also lacked the necessary connections so any (not negative) promo was necessary promo - like hiding Taehyung in pre-debut content. Jimin was mature enough to understand it and hard headed enough to do it anyway. We know that he said that everything he wanted he got: from school to BTS - that was his first audition - and other things. He is pretty much an unstoppable force The likelyhood of them "surviving" their first 100 days was close to zero. Every day could have been their last - not enough money to go on, pay rent and afford food and whatever else needed to be paid. GLAM? You do realize that the rumor was that she was a sasaeng fan of Super Junior member Leeteuk, right? That would have likely caused trouble, For all we know she disliked being unsuccessfull and was threatened by SM not to come near him or just disillusioned that even being an Idol would her not get him. She may also have crashed with the other members. The label could have simply let her go because she asked. She left the industry and seems not to have tried to e.g. debut with another group or to work in the entertainment scene. BH does not necessarily kick someone just because they feel like it. Jimin likely knows why she left so assuming he was afraid of being kicked after being shown in pre-debut content is pure speculation. Fandom loves to promote that Jimin had a training time of 6 months. Which - when you know he came in in spring of 2012 - only makes sense when you count it to the time it was confirmed he would debut with the group - because the actual debut is more than a year after Jimin first auditioned for BH. If Jimin was as squirmy as you we would not know BTS because only all 7 could make it - not with all the stuff against all of them. Yes, he was not quiet comfortable. The choreo for a bit also included all of them showing of their abs and later I believe they had to. Even in this content we see him in behind the scenes content show his abs. It's privilege if you never have to do anything you are "uncomfortable" with in your life to succeed in whatever you want. And it was a luxury that BTS didn't have. But if it was a hard no I doubt they would have forced him.
Yes Martin we got you!💪 Yes please react to the music video after watching the episode 💜 Jimin said the artist he admired before his debut was Taeyang, then in 2023 he actually got to ft in his song Vibe🔥 So we got Jimin and Taeyang, JHope and JCole definitely we need RM with Nas!
RM doesn’t have a song with Nas, but he has met him and talked abt being his fan. Nas was RM’s biggest artistic influence. But I think the music RM is doing now has a very different style. IDK, maybe, if it’s something RM would want than I’m all for it lmao
Jungkook was was a little lovely brat as a teenager 😂💜 i mean all of them were doing anything they couldn't go out much or have free time so they will be doing things that no one understands lol
Many of the members of BTS are NOT considered “good looking” under Korean beauty standards. Hitman Bang picked them for their talent (other than Jin, who was picked as a visual but turned out to have an incredible voice). They received intense insults and criticism in Korea because of this.
Fave BTS song, Love Myself Answer - it has been my life's mantra Fave RM solo - Closer Fave Jimin solo - Lie Fave V solo - Stigma Fave Suga solo - Snooze Fave Jin solo - Awake Fave JK solo - Euphoria Fave Jhope solo - Equal Sign
Favorite song totally depends on my mood. Spring Day, Not Today, Cypher 3&4, The Truth Untold, Snooze, Wildflower, Set me Free pt 2, Arson, More, Blue Side, Amygdala....and so many more! It's like picking my favorite child (if I had more than one, haha). Just can't do it!
You realize that ARMY's can't answer that question. BTS have over 400 songs in their discography, and they are all NO SKIPS. BTS doesn't put out bad music. There is no way I can tell you what my favorite song is. There are too many favorites!! Could you please watch to the end of the video? There will always be scenes or gems or songs that you will be missing if you don't watch the end.
Martin, I would looove to hear you bust out a rap! Please enduulge us! 😊 As for the favorite song by BTS as a group or soloist, it is so hard to choose. My favorite would be whatever they are releasing at present
My favorite BTS songs: Tomorrow/ Louder than bombs/ Am i wrong?/ Spine breaker/ Home/ Cypher pt.2 My favorite solo songs: -Like crazy/ Lie (Jimin) -Moonchild/Joke/ Still life (RM) -Standing next to you (JK) -Love me again (v) -AgustD/ D-Day (suga) -Airplane/ hangsang (J-Hope) -Abyss/ epiphany (Jin)

Thank you for this video and for adding the deleted scenes with it. I don't think I can choose just one song. But my top OT7 song would be Butterfly, Louder than Bombs, Magic Shop and Your Eyes Tell. The last one is one of their Japanese songs. JK can pretty much get away with anything since he is the youngest 😂
JK is too tender hearted to pull a prank on like that! They should be ashamed. I wanted to jump through my screen too lol. I was waiting for you to get there - that’s your boy! 🤣
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. My fav song is Your Eyes Tell by BTS it's an OST for a drama. My fav song from Jimin is Lie and my fav song from Suga is Amygdala. My fav song from Jk is Stay Alive. Fav song from Jin is Abyss. Fav song from RM is Wildflower. My fav song from JHope is Blue Side. And my fav song from V is Stigma. =0} Jin did mess up his pants fell down. That's why he was crying. Poor guy. V trained 2 yrs i think. They just hid him to create buzz for the group. It was a good strategy but some are not fans of it. Jimin was the last to join he only trained 6-8 months. But many confuse him with V because of the companies PR move. They were from a small company that's why many did not give them a chance. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 So glad u are continuing this series. Aneesa the creator of this docu series is an editor. It took her 4 yrs of research to create 20 plus chapters. Many army don't want this series to end. Aneesa has to do more research to tell the rest of BTS story. She sadly does not have much help. And after her promotion she had to stop. She works full time at Disney now. I hope in the future she can share the last 9 vids with us. Loved seeing Army do the chants before there were official chants. =0p Loved hearing that army was asking when is their debut on google. haha fun! Excited to hear your thought on ch.3. So glad u liked this. I am learning so much. i love this! Hugs. Aishwarya Ahirrao ⟭⟬ ⟬⟭ said on 7/23/22 This is a great series! Aneesa (the creator of The Rise of Bangtan) shared that she has been working on this series (her labor of love) for over 3 years! She is taking viewer on a journey step-by-step from BTS' perspective not looking back on their days but living through them (with them). She edits their content to allow BTS to speak their thoughts, through their experiences at the time because BTS has been documenting themselves since BEFORE their debut, so there is A LOT of material to edit down to tell their story! She also gives an overview of the KPop history for those who are not familiar with the industry. She uses clips from different video clips of other idols/ journalists interviews to try to give a broader perspective of the industry. Her skill as a professional video editor really shines through. Amazing work! I think many ARMY really like this series (besides it being extremely well made), she doesn't try to interpret what "she thinks" BTS is trying to say, she just shows the viewers exactly what they said and shared about what their thoughts were at the time. She is an "OG" KPop fan and BTS fan since pre-debut! She also shared that BTS has been the light in her darkness for many years now. (Cr: "FY" on yt) nafnaf said on 4/2/22 There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture. Mint said on 4/2/22 Yup. It’s kinda the equivalent “bon appetit” before a meal or telling someone “break a leg”. 열심히 하겠습니다 (I will work hard) as a greeting & 수고하셨습니다 (you worked hard) as the parting. A person might introduce themselves as “so and so from ___university, degree in x, I’ll work hard!” in everyday situations like new hire, or when you show up to volunteering, or even personal hobbies like meeting new members of your dance crew. Now i know that u know this, but this is for a lil background info and things to be notice in first two chapters for your wife to read & know 😊 I think it's important to notice the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries. BTS' were worried about their own personal skills (not dancing well enough, song worries, etc), about not getting attention when they debut due to their small company, not having money, etc. While the other trainees seem to be living in fear of being cut from the company at any moment if they make one mistake, worrying about weight quotas, etc. BTS stayed until late hours because they WANTED to, while the other trainees HAD to. Obviously BTS had things they had to do too, they could've not made it to debut as Jimin almost did due to short training, but instead of using that as a fear to hold over them Bighit seemed to use it to encourage them to work harder and improve themselves. BTS were allowed to make mistakes without worrying they'd be thrown out of the company. I'm very glad that they all signed with Bighit, and that Bighit has caused a shift in the Kpop industry, lots of newer companies are giving their groups more freedom and treating them better due to BTS' success. These companies see that idols don't need to be punished and forced to do things in order to succeed, BTS are proof that freedom and happiness should be the most important thing. (Cr: "Shannon" on yt) Now plz understand this 1st episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, whereas subtle hints of BTS and bighit being contradictory different is shown, BTS is different from other K-pop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies. These first few episodes can be misleading because it makes you think BTS management follows these guidelines the other idol members from other companies are talking about, but BTS and BigHit don't do those things. Notice how when it is said idols don't have a lot of creative freedom, you see Namjoon and Yoongi writing lyrics, or when it says idols have phone bans or something, you see the BTS members on their phones, or how when idols say they aren't allowed to go outside the dorm, you see Yoongi walking around freely. It can be a confusing thing for new ARMY to make note of, but PLEASE notice these differences. It is vital to how BigHit runs differently, and therefore why BTS is so different from other idol groups from the very start. (Cr: "Kayla Kulik" on yt)

@@cathydimaria6454prob just speculation, I don’t think they’ve ever elaborated on why he was a hidden member. Most likely it was just to cause an impact on debut day
I don't want to say this bc jin hates that moment but there was problem with his pants so he was both stressed and embarrassed i don't think it went down much but i think he was so scared and stressed so he cried
For the songs in each chapter, I recommend checking them beforehand, so you could have more context The “song” at the end of this chapter was not really a song but a concept trailer for the next album, which will be covered in chapter 3. If you need help figuring out which songs are needed beforehand, we can help!
I think the most proper way is to listen to the album, then the chapter related to it, and then the next album and so on. But I know it will take a loooong time soo 🤷♀️
@brayonne1755 said on 7/20/23 Hey! ok so a couple things that aren't mentioned in the video that I found interesting when i learned about them: 1- the clip where Bang PD mentions they clear all other schedules when they're preparing for a comeback, that's actually a big deal because the company was struggling at that time and the guys all used to work side jobs to make revenue for the company. I don't mean like Suga being a scooter delivery guy, you can find the members in videos, promotions and commercials from back then as extras or back up dancers and singers etc. Not doing any of that for weeks would likely put a dent in the company's working budget for sure. 2- the reason Jin was upset after the run-through for the debut was apparently because his pants came down as he was dancing. I'd have probably died, especially as the eldest hyung poor guy! 3- that group EXO, apparently, I repeat APPARENTLY, their fans are the planners of a black ocean during a BTS performance. This is when during a performance the audience turns off their light sticks so the performers will just see darkness. It seriously breaks my soul that anyone would do this, that anyone would THINK of doing this. And there's no doubting that this kind of thing has to be planned, thousands of people don't just turn out their bulbs at a specific moment without planning. This has happened to a few groups in Kpop and is traumatizing enough that BTS portrayed one in their video for Bulletproof the Eternal. In xCeleste's (the queen of all armys!) hardships video she shows Twitter trends of "breakwingstour", "kickoutjhope" etc. Some say it's just specific fans saving their batteries for their specific artist but give me a break, being extra batteries! I don't get people's cruelty. 4- I'm glad you mentioned Kanye and Black Skinhead - I think THIS is probably the biggest thing that got them virulently hated back then, at least by underground hip-hop guys. I tried to dig as much as I was able about this and apparently, that radio interview (and keep in mind the idea of this interview was to celebrate BTS' one year anniversary!) where the jerkoff (rapper named B-Free) calls them girls for wearing makeup as idols, this interview was after that concept trailer thing (on the Kanye song, you saw a clip where they rip off their black shirts and are suddenly in white - by the way there are hilarious clips of a performance where JK and RM ripped too hard and ended up no zero shirt 🤣😍). The disgust was based on RM having re-recorded the song. They used the track, removed Kanye, and RM rapped it with exactly the same flow, if I remember right he did it in Korean. For the hip hop community this was outright blatant theft, you don't "steal" another rapper's flow. What those guys didn't know: BTS had spent an absolutely insane amount of energy on this comeback performance, it was a very big deal, they had been told there were no legal issues for them to use the song, but at the last second the **broadcasters** said they couldn't use the song, I'm assuming this is because they would have had to pay some sort of royalty to Kanye and weren't willing. It was too late at this point for BigHit to come up with an alternative which would have meant new choreo and all the rehearsals that come with that so they decided to redo the vocals, this way they could go ahead and use the song. Of course for the sake of the choreography the vocals had to match the original track so RM imitated Kanye. Apparently he knew and understood this wasn't a good move but there was just no choice anymore, there was too much invested in that performance, they couldn't not do it. Annnnnd... BACKLASH. I think it started with the hip hop crowd but this followed them for years considering "Plagiarism Boy Scouts" trended on Twitter on a few occasions, the suspicion stuck. I saw RM refer to it as his dark past. The good news is B-Free is currently in jail, or was. He even tried to apologize 6 years later, army told him to shove it. @cola5473 8/11/23 Fun facts: Jimin said that he most admired Taeyang and he influenced him to become a singer. Last year he got to do a collaboration with him called VIBE. Good video and there is a live performance too. Taeyang was one of SUGA's first guests on Suchwita. He is a solo artist now but was part of the k-pop group BigBang. They were one of the top groups but have since broken up. Also, Jungkook's life motto is one of the first tattoos that he got on his arm 4 or 5 years after he first said it.
My favorite song depend on the situation because all of their song is my favorite. Martin please watch BTS award show MMA 2019, it's an 40 minutes epic show. Don't worry about the long video.
I know you already have a plan to check out the official MVs in chronological order BUT I would also HIGHLY recommend checking out Born Singer as well. JK and V were teasing Suga by rapping his verses to him in this chapter so it also works for timeframe. It's a track that they originally released July 2013 (1 month after debut) free to s0undcl0ud after BangPD suggested creating a song to capture their emotions, etc. at that time so they wouldn't forget. But more importantly, the live stage mix is one that can't be missed. th-cam.com/video/8cUQ3lF3_O8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=azGKCHwapDq-kokE The live performance does fall out of the timeline a bit as it was 2015 so a few years later, but after just seeing them in this chapter after debut I think it would be really meaningful. It's that meaningful of a song that 9 years later they were able to get JCole's permission, since the music is from Born Sinner, and they re-recorded it and included it as the 1st track of their anthology album Proof.
Hmm they been on the same stage with Nas, it waa the closest... On Gramy stage thry dud with Lil Nas X, hr had guests and BTS was part of it and Nas too...
I love V. He’s so special, and gifted, and BTS would not be BTS without him. But when I watch this episode, I remember about how solo stans spread the craziest theories about why he was hidden before debut. Things like, V as such a standout talent that Big Hit was worried about other companies stealing him, or that he was some sort of secret weapon. None of that makes any sense, though, and it's honestly kind of insulting to V's loyalty. Do they think the other companies were gonna kidnap him, or what? Because otherwise, the only way V was leaving was if he chose to, and he had already committed to Bangtan. As a trainee, V wasn’t some crazy prodigy. He wasn't like some of those 'big 3' trainees who'd been taking vocal or dance lessons since childhood. He hadn't yet grown into his gorgeous looks. He had a lot of potential, but back then he was just a cute and quirky farm kid who grew up playing the saxophone, that somehow accidentally ended up auditioning for an idol group. I don't know if you know, but most kpop groups have an official hierarchy of positions, which are decided upon by the managers and assigned to members at debut. The ranking goes main first, then lead, then everyone else. When BTS debuted, Jungkook was named as main vocal and Jimin was named as lead vocal. Two members were named as main dancers: J-hope and Jimin. Jungkook was named as lead dancer. At the time of BTS’ debut, Big Hit chose not to name V as part of the dance line. They didn’t invest their resources sending him to America for special training like they did with Jungkook, they didn’t give him dance solos like they did with J-hope, or highlight him in the choreo like they did with Jimin’s acrobatics and ab-flashing. Of course, V didn't rap. RM was named as main rapper, and Suga as lead rapper. There is also an official position called visual, which is basically just the member who is considered to be the best looking. Jin was named as BTS' official visual at debut. If, as the solo stans say, Big Hit thought V was so incredible that he was at risk of being poached, then why did the company TOTALLY fail to acknowledge that? On paper, V debuted with the lowest position of the entire group. He was the only member not given a single title. Furthermore, he wasn’t the leader, the eldest hyung, or the maknae. He didn’t contribute to writing or producing songs back then. He didn’t speak English. He didn’t act (yet). He was basically the only member of the whole group that didn’t have a “thing” that was his specialty or that helped him stand out, other than maybe his lower singing register. Not that he was given a lot of singing parts to show it off back then, anyway... So Big Hit invented something. They designated him as the mysterious secret member, to make people curious. They made him choose and start using a stage name, something intriguing that would stick out in people’s minds. All this to help boost his signal a little, so that fans would take the time to know him, and then get drawn in by his personality. Because V really is awesome. 😊
The only thing I kept thinking while reading you break that down abt their debut positions is how on suchwita he talked abt how he wasn’t really ambitious back then, that he dream basically stopped with being a trainee. RM and Suga knew they wanted to rap, jhope knew he wanted to dance and picked up rap from them since 2010-2011 when he joined, Jin had auditioned to become an actor but was convinced to become a vocalist and join (from what Jin talked abt back then I think he just wanted to make his parents proud), Jimin wanted to dance and looked up to taeyang, jk wanted to be a singer, V didn’t really plan on audition to begin with, it’s very possible that had a lot to do with it. I’m really glad he found his calling and got his official positions now and can contribute all his talent and hard work with the group.
Thank you for this excellent breakdown. I too get frustrated when people go on about how V was a hidden member so that other companies wouldn't 'Poach' him. It was a marketing strategy because Big Hit didn't have the connections or resources to get a lot of exposure - which is also why the members were given free reign to an extent on social media. Something unheard of in Kpop industry.
Hi LVLUP, thanks for all your videos and love for BTS. I am a new subscriber to your channel, I have been an army since 2016. Please block this @/cheshire913 solo shipper toxic. Don't let these toxic delulu kids spread hate and toxicity on your channel. She writes bad comments about V and JK and spreads hatred and lies. Please.thank you
TBH some of the BTS members aren’t meet the Korea beauty standard… (BTS didnt do any plastic surgery due to BH was nearly bankrupted) they are attacked by k-netizens abt how their looks still now …😢
Martin, don't stop watching until the last second since there is always something more at the end of each chapter
i don't think they have the desire to be the biggest kpop group during their debut, they just wanted to debut and show their talents. they literally thought blood sweat and tears was their peak 😅 also, their digital footprint was so crazyyyy you will realize they really didn't have any idea that they will be this big today.
Yeah all the success after bst was shocking to them that they thought about disbanding 😂
The mentality was “can we survive in this industry next year to keep putting out the music we want to make?”
Aneesa is really a great video editor and storyteller.
They were KIDS with dreams and aspirations. Corageous ones to believe in themselves and keep on going despite all the haters. Congratulations to them all for being true to their dreams. 💜💜💜💜💜OT7
Jin was crying after the debut rehearsal because his pants kept falling down while dancing and he thought it would damage their performance.
Also he is the most famous in K-Pop
starting chapter 3, dont forget also the "Bonus content" besides the Deleted scenes (It's possible to do all in one, but if it's too long, don't worry, you can split in 2 video, one with the episode, one with the bonus content and Deleted scenes);
And for the question of the day, I can't choose only ONE song, when BTS have so much to offer !
I LOVE THIS COMMENT
“No More Dream” performance always gives me goosebumps! What a debut!!! they were destined to be HUGE stars from day one💜
Favorite BTS song: BUTTERFLY
My favorite song is Sea because it’s so beautiful and melacholic.
I'm quite sure that the let's say "eternal teenager" image is what the entertainment industry (not only musical) more sell and sexualize until these days, unfortunately 😞
I felt so bad for JK when they played the prank on him for his birthday. Poor guy!
lol I can’t decide a fav song as I can’t decide my bias😂 I”ll tell you some of my favs:
OT7: Telepathy, Mic Drop, Run, Pied Piper, Let go
Vocal line: Zero O’clock, The Truth Untold and House of cards
Rap line: UGH, Ddaeng and Cypher 3
RM: Persona/Lonely/Wild Flower
Jin: Tonight/Epiphany /Awake The Astronaut
Suga: August D, Snooze,Daechwita
JHope: Arson, Lock/Unlock, More, I wonder
Jimin: Filter, With you, Set me Free
V: Serendipity, Stigma, It’s definitely you
Jungkook: My time, My you, Hate you
My favorite song is Film out
Fun fact: In the room full of Post-It Notes when Jimin mentioned his biggest influence being Taeyang from Big Bang… well, Taeyang asked Jimin to do a song with him about 2 years ago called Vibe. It was an awesome song (you should totally react to the MV!), but knowing Jimin was asked to do a song by his biggest idol… 🥰
My favorite song is danger
jimin's early persona in bts content is so strikingly different than how he is now. these days he's so... soft? is that the word? he embraces his cuteness and his androgyny. he's warm, kind of shy, and giggly. seeing his old, muscular, aggressively hypermasculine younger self--it's almost like two different people.
watching these old vlogs, plus some later interviews where they talk about it... you get clues as to why. apparently the company originally dictated "roles" for some (or possibly all) of them to play.
I also just have to point out... jimin is 17 years old in most of this footage. obviously the entertainment industry is... well, you know. but he's still a minor at this point, by our standards AND korea's (he is 19 in korean age, and they are considered legal adults at 20). so the whole thing seems kind of exploitative to me.
so yeah. baby jimin being a ho is funny, but also kind of sad.
You also see Jin wearing star sunglasses and holding a Disney princess fan, they are learning and adapting, it’s not like
Jimin wasn’t threatened with expulsion from the group, they were all trainees who were competing with each other, they also ranked suga, RM and another trainee at the bottom rank all the time, would you say that they were being threatened too?
Earlier, you ranted for like three paragraphs that assigned personas/roles is a totally normal thing in kpop groups and shouldn't be judged.

Not sure whom you are trying to gaslight.
He is pretty much an unstoppable force
The likelyhood of them "surviving" their first 100 days was close to zero. Every day could have been their last - not enough money to go on, pay rent and afford food and whatever else needed to be paid.
GLAM?
You do realize that the rumor was that she was a sasaeng fan of Super Junior member Leeteuk, right? That would have likely caused trouble,
For all we know she disliked being unsuccessfull and was threatened by SM not to come near him or just disillusioned that even being an Idol would her not get him.
Spring Day , Magic Shop and Mikrokosmos 💜 hard to pick one
Louder than Bombs. 💜
Yes Martin we got you!💪
Yes please react to the music video after watching the episode 💜
Jimin said the artist he admired before his debut was Taeyang, then in 2023 he actually got to ft in his song Vibe🔥 So we got Jimin and Taeyang, JHope and JCole definitely we need RM with Nas!
Favorite song is so hard! 😭 I’m going to go with an oldie - Danger. 😜
You have to see jimin with his ídol in 'vibe'. Yes like jhope, jimin have a music with his favourite singer\dancer
RM doesn’t have a song with Nas, but he has met him and talked abt being his fan. Nas was RM’s biggest artistic influence. But I think the music RM is doing now has a very different style. IDK, maybe, if it’s something RM would want than I’m all for it lmao
I cannot choose one song. I got like ten-fifteen favorites. 🤩
Jungkook was was a little lovely brat as a teenager 😂💜 i mean all of them were doing anything they couldn't go out much or have free time so they will be doing things that no one understands lol
Spring day. Close second is Magic Shop. I’m so looking forward to your journey into the Rise of Bangtan series- it gets better and better.
Jungkook turning 16 🥲 This year he turns 27 inside a military base 😞😫😭😭
Many of the members of BTS are NOT considered “good looking” under Korean beauty standards. Hitman Bang picked them for their talent (other than Jin, who was picked as a visual but turned out to have an incredible voice). They received intense insults and criticism in Korea because of this.
I like the song called rain, but I can't choose favorite, there is so many song that I adore.
I think you are a great ‘reactor’ because you got so upset on JK’s behalf - same as all of us Armies
😊
Fave BTS song, Love Myself Answer - it has been my life's mantra
Fave RM solo - Closer
Fave Jimin solo - Lie
Fave V solo - Stigma
Fave Suga solo - Snooze

There is no way I can tell you what my favorite song is. There are too many favorites!! Could you please watch to the end of the video? There will always be scenes or gems or songs that you will be missing if you don't watch the end.

My fav song is Tokyo by rm
Yes
El final de cada capítulo es lo mejor, no lo cortes
Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
So glad u are continuing this series. Hugs.

This is a great series! (Cr: "FY" on yt)

There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture.
Mint said on 4/2/22
Yup.
Now i know that u know this, but this is for a lil background info and things to be notice in first two chapters for your wife to read & know 😊
I think it's important to notice the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries.
(Cr: "Shannon" on yt)
Now plz understand this 1st episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, whereas subtle hints of BTS and bighit being contradictory different is shown, BTS is different from other K-pop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies.
My number 1 is "First love" Suga solo from BTS album Wings.
But BTS song I have two on first place: "Tomorrow" and "Paradise".
RM and Nas have not collaborated, but they did share the Grammy stage in 2019. It was the Lil Nas X Old Town Road. BTS and Nas both featured.
Lmao NAS and lil nas x are 2 different peoples 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was confused too is he the same person or not cause I actually don't listen to other than BTS
@@blue5lady NAS is a rapper, lil nas x is a singer (he performed with them at grammy) but rapper nas is never performed or collaborated with bts but RM is a huge fan of NAS.
@@Jkforever-jk No shit they are two people. Watch the performance until about the four minute mark. “Big Nas” comes out and performs with Lil Nas.
Taehyung was a hidden member, kind of like a secret weapon of the group, I guess that’s why they kept him secret until their debut
Story I heard they didn't want poached by other agency.Baritone are gold for a group .plus his range and looks
@@cathydimaria6454prob just speculation, I don’t think they’ve ever elaborated on why he was a hidden member. Most likely it was just to cause an impact on debut day
47:01 twista *and* da brat’s version? Valid! 🫡
Bonus does start at chapter 3. Thanks for spoiling us!
V is the 6th member . He was hidden as a strategic plan to gain more hype to the group .
I don't want to say this bc jin hates that moment but there was problem with his pants so he was both stressed and embarrassed i don't think it went down much but i think he was so scared and stressed so he cried
For the songs in each chapter, I recommend checking them beforehand, so you could have more context
The “song” at the end of this chapter was not really a song but a concept trailer for the next album, which will be covered in chapter 3. If you need help figuring out which songs are needed beforehand, we can help!
I think the most proper way is to listen to the album, then the chapter related to it, and then the next album and so on. But I know it will take a loooong time soo 🤷♀️

Hey! ok so a couple things that aren't mentioned in the video that I found interesting when i learned about them:
1- the clip where Bang PD mentions they clear all other schedules when they're preparing for a comeback, that's actually a big deal because the company was struggling at that time and the guys all used to work side jobs to make revenue for the company.

Fun facts: Jimin said that he most admired Taeyang and he influenced him to become a singer.
My favorite BTS song is either Butterfly (prologue mix) or Don't by eAeon ft. RM
If you want we could tell you which songs you can best react to after each episode?
54:31 RM do a song with Nas "Old Town Road"
Can u pls make a The Rise of Bangtan playlist. This way we can find ur reactions easier. Thanks.
My favorite song depend on the situation because all of their song is my favorite. Martin please watch BTS award show MMA 2019, it's an 40 minutes epic show. Don't worry about the long video.
Remember they are all 1 to 2 years younger than they stated here. Thats before they sinced up age calculation with the west.
Nas did a rap to Haminlton music with Lin Manuel Miranda.
I see some toxic haters on your channel writing lies. be cerfull
Actually jungkook
was very shy back then V brought him out of his shell,Those 2 being the youngest got in to spot mist fit
Oooh OK 😅😅😅😅
Hi LVLUP, thanks for all your videos and love for BTS. I am a new subscriber to your channel, I have been an army since 2016. Please block this @/cheshire913 solo shipper toxic.
