A very good description of this pivotal moment. To be honest, I have never understood parts of this scenario (and I watched it unfold in 1983. One of the things I could NOT understand at the time, and for YEARS later, was, "Why did Vader block Luke's shot at the Emperor? He wants him dead just as much as Luke, and it would make HIM Emperor of the Galaxy. It doesn't make any sense! That's been his goal since the last film! Why not make it easy, and let Luke finish the job?"), but your narration makes it a lot clearer.
I Felt Luke Might have fallen to the Darkside if Palpatine had done one thing "Keep his mouth shut" during the duel with Vader..I noticed in Return of the Jedi....Luke was struggling to keep from falling to the Darkside and at different points it looked as if he might turn to the Darkside. mainly when Vader said maybe his sister will join them....that set off Luke in anger and he over welmed Vader to the point of cutting off his hand....at that point Palpatine spoke up and Luke calmed down seeing Vader's missing hand. then turning to Palatine telling him he was a Jedi and would never turn to the darkside............just my opinion but if Palpatine kept his mouth shut Luke might have turned to the darkside.
@@MatthewJamesKalasky that could be true as well.....Palpatine never goaded Anakin...like he did Luke plus as you said he took his time turning Anakin to the darkside..carefully saying things to get Anakin to think and turn to the Darkside...with Luke Palpatine seemed to rush trying to turn him instead of taking his time,
Once in a while I see Luke at the Malibu Newsstand browsing and buying magazines. The force is still very strong with him by living in a two story 12 thousand square foot home. With five garage ports, swimming pool sitting on 8 acrres. On top of Sierra Retreat with a beauiful view of the ocean.
@RetneysHolocron I have the video of Qui-gon Jinn Guides Darth Vader (Remastered) in 18 Minutes. TH-cam won't let me upload it on TH-cam. My video has force ghost of Qui-gon and Obi-wan and Yoda talking about Anakin's past and the flashback. When Palpatine strike force lighting on Luke it also has the flashback of Palpatine striking force lighting on Mace Windu from Qui-gon Jinn Guides Darth Vader (Remastered).
I have the ones from ROTS thru ROTJ. It’s a good one. I love the way it breaks down his duel with Vader, and each of their thoughts and feelings during the battle. Vader at one point was nervous Luke might actually beat him, though he’d been holding back majority of the battle the same way Dooku was instructed to do with him, until the enemy taps into the darkside. And like Dooku, by then it was too late to take control of the fight
What if vaiter and look knew and Luke and also that way they both survive how they have to do is just exit the death Star the way to defeat the alternate ending the real good ending of return of the Jedi what is the figure out a way for them to throw him down without him knowing about ithim by throwing him down the reactor shaft before coming into the room

In addition to that, he took a lot more time and care in converting Anakin. Maybe he thought it would be easier with no Jedi to get in his way?
