The animation, sound and backgrounds are so great. Such an amazing step up from FF2 and special. This was the beginning of the new artstyle, more refined.

This is what it's all about. Just aesthetically this game rocks, from the corny (but surprisingly well localised) dialogue to the attention to detail - capped by sending Yamazaki flying through the screen - I just love how classic SNK pushed the envelope in the presentation of their games. I mean, SNK is still pretty great, but these were the golden days.
they were completely uninhibited by hardware! Whereas most devs had to use all sorts of coding tricks to incorporate unique fx SNK had a blank canvas to do whatever they wanted with thanks to getting such superior game hardware.

+DocFunky XD funny version there, but for what i know, after you beat Geese and Yamazaki it means you eventually recover the Scrolls of Jin, and whats the brothers are looking for and makes you fight them, defeating them literally means you kill them, but if you use a Good Character you get that picture, meaning the character used the scrolls to bring the brothers back to life, if you beat it with a Evil character (Geese for example) you dont get that scene

I was never a fan of KOF in terms of graphics, but I will bluntly point out Terry, Andy, Joe, Geese are way better combo wise in Fatal Fury then there KOF versions.
I love that sidestep feature, it adds a whole new dimension for evading attacks on a 2d plane. Imagine if the new mortal kombat games had that? No more just jumping or ducking to evade attacks, you could sidestep scorpions spear then grab it and pull him to you instead. That would make fights insane.
Fatal Fury 3 was probably the most visually appealing of all the games of in the Fatal Fury / Garou Densetsu franchise, but sadly seemed to be the most unbalanced and unecessarily hard as nails thanks to a wonky control scheme. SNK got everything fixed with the Real Bout games afterward, but you still got to love the unique look and atmosphere of this installment. Then again there is that horrible Engrish problem, but I guess that only adds to the overall charm...

The third anime was kinda based on FF special. Because FF special had no story (dreammatch) they had to create new characters. Notice how the bad guy in this movie looks like a younger Krauser. FF3 (game) 's story kinda took the story of this movie but in another direction : instead of searching 3 parts of an amor, there are 3 parts of some ancient scrolls - one was held by Krauser like in the movie. In the movie there are twins : the girl and the boy, in the game the bosses are twins - two boys this time.
Ryuji Yamasaki got to appear as a cameo on the King of Fighters Stadium stage in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but the penultimate and final bosses the Jin brothers did not.

Colonel List Grüber If Mai Shiranui were to appear in Smash as a fighter, she would grab opponents with her legs. That’s the way it was in Fatal Fury Special. She would also have a Zair that would grab opponents in the air also with her legs.
Gotta admit. this is probably my least favorite game in the Fatal Fury series. The controls, while not awful, still felt unresponsive at times. Most of the newcomers in the game fall flat in my opinion, with the only exceptions being Blue Mary, Bob Wilson, and Yamasaki. The challenge really wasn't that fun for me as it felt pretty unbalanced. Finally, the sidestepping, my god the sidestepping. Sidestepping belong in 3D fighters, which this is not. It's so annoying when the opponents keep on sidestepping every 5 seconds. The Real Bout series I think were a huge improvement in my opinion, and Mark of the Wolves finally got rid of the sidestepping and made it a straight out 2D fighter, and I loved it because of it. If SNK ever brings back Fatal Fury and they want to bring back sidestepping, then I hope for the love of god they make it a 3D fighter like Tekken. I think that's the only way sidestepping would work.
Yeah, I know there was one already. But it doesn't hurt to try again. If they were to bring back Fatal Fury, I say either make it a 2.5D fighter, or make it a 3D fighter if they want to bring back sidestepping.

It was included in the PS2 Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 1 - I’m playing it right now but can’t figure out how to activate hidden desperation moves in this version of FF3 - because the way I do in the arcades isn’t working, it just pauses.
