Enjoyable video, thank you. Just FYI the 'B' on the RWR is a Barlock soviet era Early Warning, GCI and SAM Search radar. If it can see you, it can vector fighters toward you, and communicate with SAM sites to toggle their FCRs on when you are within no escape zones, etc. It has around a 280 mile range. Another useful tip - Your jet started in CAT 3 mode because your stores weight imposes a G limit on your aircraft. Once you fired your first AMRAAM, you went bellow that limit. The Caution warning you got was to let you know that you were in the wrong config. At this point you can switch to CAT 1 and get full performance from the flight controls. You will really appreciate that in a dogfight! Sorry if you already know these things!
Lets add a bit more knowledge , the cat3 limiter does not limit Gs , you can still pull 9G if you fly quick enough. However it does reduce the Gs available with certain AOA and it does reduce the roll rate. Cat3 limiter is not to protect from Gs it’s to protect from departures
@@MultiJp51 can't disagree with the MavJP! Thanks for the correction and as an old time enjoyer of falcon since before the Open Falcon days, thanks to you and the team for the labour of love BMS is.
Apparently they are because they are making a dynamic campaign engine. It will take until we are old but they did say they are doing it. Likely it is entirely because of the continued viability of BMS despite how old it is.
My problem with the BMS campaign is that AI commander will sometimes plan suicide missions Like we lost a third of our Sufas fleet 12 hours in the conflict ... 😅
If BMS ever offers something like a MiG-21, -23 or -29 I’ll switch over. I’m still really enjoying DCS but the lack of a single-player dynamic campaign means there’s a dead end in sight.
Bit of a nitpick but usually you keep the AMRAAMs on the wingtip and the AIM-9s inside (or sometimes inbetween your amraams), not sure if it has an effect in BMS but irl it reduces wing fluttering at lower weights
Default loadouts (used when a mission is generated) put them at wingtips, probably affect the weight and trim required to couterbalance but not sure if it reduce wing fluttering
Nice flying, too bad you didn't know how useful is dogfight override mode. It calls Aim9s and ACM radar mode. It's very useful once bandit is within 10 miles because it's very fast and needs no fiddling with radar cursor. It has 4 submodes: 1) boresight - it points 10x10 deg radar beam straight forward with cross symbol on the HUD. First target it sees in this cone gets locked 2) vertical it scans in 10x60 deg vertical line, iirc it's -10 - +50 deg from the nose of your aircraft. Again it locks first target it sees 3) 30x20 mode, radar scans roughly your HUD area, kinda less useful as it's much slower but if you can't really see your target but you know it's somewhere in front of you it might be handy 4) slew submode - kinda like boresight but you can slew the cone to manually scan area in front of you another not so useful mode when you've got bandit in sight. With first two modes it's pretty fast, point your nose on bandit, get lock, id target, shoot if hostile. Good point about using RWS exp mode (zoom) to pick up lead/trail target flying in close formation.
BTW pay attention to those two numbers next to your radar cursor, it's min/max your radar is scanning at distance where your cursor is placed, it might happen (esp on short ranges) that that there are planes in front of you but outside of radar cone. So you won't see them on your scope. use your antena elevation knob to to move scanned volume up and down to scan whole airspace.
Thanks to Enigma and Blue Flash server Tempest we have a breath of fresh air. I would be playing DCS much less if it was not for these 2 servers. I would be limited to Growling Sidewinder (Good server and I support it on Patreon as well, but the 3rd person view ruins it for me ). I am not interested in PVE or single player. Blue Flash server is awesome now with the new map and new planes. These 2 servers complement each other, offering different planes, eras and settings. Great job gentlemen ! I support these servers on Patreon. It is only fair. They provide tons of entertainment for me and it is a lot of work for them. I play for a month on a new server and if I still play after a month , I do the Patreon thing. I hope more people do the same because I do not want to see these servers ever go off line. These people need to pay the bills. PS ED - take a note of it. I bought 5 extra modules to play on these 2 servers plus an extra module to play on Growling Sidewinder. ED - these servers make money for you - support them
Having just started myself a few weeks ago, my advice would be to get your controls set up first, then start on the tactical exchange training missions. Read through the training manual as you do these missions and pause when required. Between missions, read EVERYTHING. Whenever you have questions, you should be looking up the answer in your free time. If you can’t find the answer, you can join a discord group like falcon lounge and have questions answered there. Once you have completed all the training missions, hit someone up in the discord and have a go at your first MP! The community is really helpful and friendly and will make sure you have a good first experience.
I love how people play these types of games like it's real and then fly around in a combat environment with there nav lights on, that's like having a billboard size neon sign attached to your plane saying, 'Here I am, come and get me."
Besides the earlier IP issues stated there is also the fact that the code for the AI is not compatible with the DCS game engine. The main executables of both programs are constructed so differently that next to none of their code would be compatible. If you actually tried to copy/paste the Falcon 4.0 AI code into DCS world then it would just crash the game as soon as it tried to execute any of it. That is even assuming they are programmed with the same programming language to begin with! ED is forced to develop their own AI whether they want to or not and recently they have been improving it as well as working on a dynamic campaign system.
If you aren't playing a BMS campaign with your buddies then you are really missing out
Buddies?
Would you reinstall modern aircrafts if DCS has campaign like this?
This is where I’d put all my buddies who also play flight sims - IF I HAD ANY! Lol
yeah, it's a pain neither me nor my mate can host a session (ipv6). We found one public server to play on but our "own" campaign would be way cooler.

Loving the BMS content. I got into BMS recently and I'm 3 sorties into my KTO campaign. I'm having a blast in single player.
I was just wondering if Wolfpack would start posting Falcon BMS campaign videos, and I get this.
compared to DCS, if just looking at the campaign map in BMS doesn't get you excited you're missing the point
Yeah... I try to replicate BMS dynamic campaign in DCS with scripts and text file progress trackers.

You need a copy of Falcon 4.0 which you can get off of steam
