Hi, this scene is fantastic! I am also learning the unity and omniverse, may I ask you how to create the coal layer so that it can be cut down with the shearer's roller? I would be very grateful!
Its just a block set of small textured cubes each with colliders. Also colliders and RB on the rotating drum. Th drum then uses C# scripts to do collision detect and if its tagged coal then destroy that cube. Add some particles around the drum when collisions are detected to make it look fragments falling and dust clouds. That's the simple setup. The scripts need to do other checks and you can't have too many colliders active at once so its done in zones to keep performance OK.
I have a version that I can share on google drive. Its not a complete game or anything but you can operate the shearing process as shown. I'm focusing most spare time on the VR Mining Museum these days
