It’s impossible to truly appreciate their references without growing up in the 70’s-80’s. The pop culture references in nearly every verse would mean nothing without having lived then.
SO true. and so much being missed. Sadly.
Naughty By Nature - Uptown Anthem
What about yoke the Joker? Hey how did you put that search link on your song?
Ooooohhhh yup
And then 3rd Bass’s Gas Face right into Beastie’s entire iconic black & white footage of the 1999 Glasgow concert.
Only 46 minutes of perfection.
Available on TH-cam.
🔥🔥🔥… trech
Yessir!!! Yo! U can smoke a spliff on a cliff, but there’s still no mountain hiiggghhh enough”!!🔥🔥🔥

Soooo glad you're reacting to Das EFX....one of the most creative and innovative rappers of the 90s.
Word
You have to listen to "they want efx". I can tell you in the times if timberlands called 40 belows it was coming out of every car and was in every high school hallway in BK.
Thousands of barz and not one cuss word!💯
💯
So many cultural references in here. EPMD. Archie Bunker. Bebes kids. Joe Piscopo. Kareem….and the list goes on. Listen closely!
Facts
absolutely and many more
Most of the references are probably going over his head because it is before he was born.
Yes this song is worthy of a deep dive google for Boogie and the non Gen X’rs and maybe even a refresher for some of us 😂
Little orphan Annie, daddy warbucks!
"I Rocks em, I Socks em, I Drops uhm! Haaahachuuew So Reggiedy Ready Set Down, Hut One Hut Two I Diggity Dot my I's And Cross my Tiggity T's Bro I Swiggitty Swing More Action Then Hawaii... Five...-O....!!! Microphone Checka!!"Das EFX PURE 💯🔥🔥🎤🐐🔥🔥💯
Da Lench Mob - Guerillas In The Mist
Most definitely
Das EFX being in the sewer is sort of the theme of EPMD and their Hit Squad acts . You reacted to their song "Head Banger".. they used to say they were "straight from the underground" and Das took it further with being from the sewer.
Wait until you hear Keith Murry. You ain't ready.
The most beautifullest thing in world by Keith Murray
"So What You Sayin'" video. Straight from the Underground!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Keith is a lyrical beast
Channel Live feat. KRS1- Mad IZM

Check out Ice Cube/Das Effects "Check yourself"
This is underground Hip-hop. That's why it looks like the sewers. Get it??
You'd think he figure it out 😂
And the name of the album is Straight From The Sewer.
@@vincentcarwell7216This track is off of “Dead Serious”.
They considered their style "Straight From The Sewer" and had a sing with that title as well thats why their frst few videos were in sewers and they were reppin "undergroud" rap from the sewer
I need you to review Redman - Tonight’s the Night!
Wuditlooklike🍜
The 90s was a grimy period, especially the Hit Squad! They actually climbed down into a sewer & shot the video. 1 of the creative styles ever!
Hawk Tua is very old. She just said it at the right time
"Hey hey hey". This line is spoken by Dwayne Nelson, played by Haywood Nelson, in the TV show What's Happening!! (1976-1979).
Word
Das Efx uses a lot of references from old music, TV sitcoms, movies, and commercials.... Wonder Twins (Superfriends), Gladys Knight, Bam Bam (The Flintstones), Daddy Warbucks (Annie), Saturday Night Live (Joe Piscopo) for example.
YESSSSS...IYKYK❤❤❤
Yes he is in the sewer😂😂 they have a song called straight from the sewer and it’s a banga
The representation was being underground artist, just as the whole Hit Squad led by EPMD. Their crew didn't wanna be mainstream it was about being gritty and street and Das style was considered to be from the sewer. At that time they considered mainstream as selling out or crossing over cause when hip hop music began it was considered to just be a fad and not accepted by many.
The Hit Squad (EPMD, Das EFX, Redman, K-Solo, DJ Scratch, and the Knucklehedz) were straight underground. Das EFX took it to the sewer. You need to check out Method Man and Redman - Da Rockwilder!
Ice Cube - Wicked
Absolutely!
Whew!! Nice!
Das EFX was the stuff for real nobody has flow like that yeah they in the underground
Please do a reaction to DWYCK, By Nice And Smooth and the GURU
@@michaeljackson8182 dwyck was gang star ft nice and smooth...fire ass song
@fernandobatista7404 yes you are absolutely correct
Das EFX really worked in the sewer which is how they came up with the concept "Staight From Sewer". Side note: They also went to Virginia Tech.
Being in the sewer is a play on them being undaground emcees.
Tribe Called Quest- Scenario
Shaquille O'Neal(feat. Fu Schnickens) - "What's Up Doc", Keith Murray - "Get Lifted", MC Breed(feat. Tupac) - "Gotta Get Mine"
When he said he bust rhymes like Slick Rick (the story telling rhymer that you like) bust shots, he’s talking about Slick Rick shooting his cousin for stealing money from him, he spent like 5 or 6 years in prison for it.
LL Cool J - Boomin System
EN Vogue - Hold On
Run em back to back for a surprise 🔥 🔥🔥🔥
Get this en vogue mess outta here man unless it's never gonna get it maybe
Nobody cares about the sample and here's your extinguisher 🧯
@showtimeman5673 foh., I see u wrekonize whut it is to even say nobody care bout it tho.,
The name of their 1st album is called "Sewaside"
"Dead Serious' is their 1st album
DAZ EFX and LORDS OF THE UNDER GROUND was in competition 🔥 🔥
Man I suggest the Lords every chance I get.
Hey hey hey - Dwayne from What's Happening
They influenced alot of rappers and groups in their time. You can hear their style in groups like Lords of the Underground and Trends of Culture. Check them out.
"Hey hey hey hey" is from the 70s Black sitcom "What's Happenin'"
Sad to say but to truly understand their metaphor, punchline and references you have to be from that era. So many cartoons, movies and TV shows are mentioned that today's generation never heard of
COME ON FAM! YOU know dats New York!!!!!🔥🔥🔥👑
Keith Murray - The most beautifulest thing in the world
You haven’t heard enough early hip hop to get a bunch of his references…an “Apple for a girl named Bonita” and the rest of that whole verse.
*Yo this kid is HILARIOUS😂😂😂*
I’m over here dying😂😂😂😂
Lol 😂im 41 83 born old school 90s was the issshhh 😂u had to be there but now u getting a taste of it as i ran into your channel
The sewer theme basically means their music is underground Hip Hop, literally. It's gritty and raw. EPMD, Redman, K Solo same theme
Yeah Boogie! i told you you would like this one, I'ts from their debut album Straight From The Sewer. Now give us some EPMD you gots to chill, and what you saying.
We used to go down in the sewer..there was an entrance underneath a walkway over the highway in the brooklyn/queens area.
Das Efx higgaty hitem with the grimey with this one
HakTua was funny as hell 😂
Capone & Noreaga - Top Of New York
Thank you for this reaction. This is definitely a gem 💎!
Jeru the Damaja. Can't stop the prophet. The wordplay is wicked
Brother Boogie. You are reviewing the foundation of hip hop. This era right here is cement of Hip Hop! You know how hard cement is. Also look at the dancers in the background.... Crazy! You got a new sub also(Glad I'm here in the beginning to watch the growth)... This channel is about to blow! The merch is also fire 🔥 🔥.
and that diggity was another reason groups and mcees were so different in that era ..no one sounded the same ..
Big pun "u aint a killer"&"Beware"🎤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥truss
You need to do Chief Rocka - Lords of the Underground.
Love it ,forever jams❤❤❤❤ stilled listening today’s
Straight out the Sewer!!
This ushered in a whole new era and style!!!! Na sun they were Straight from Sewer!!!!!
Loving ya work muthalova..you already know what's next.. gotsa be ..Das EFX - Baknaffek.. pure lyrics..enjoy 👊🏿
This has got be a remix. It's sounds like a straight echo or something going on that ain't on the original. It's so much easier to hear the lyrics. I dig what you do !!!!
Right?😂
LOL Hak Tua!
Mic Checka Remix hits harder imo
Correct! 🥰
U missed him say...
"I biggidy bust rhymes like Slick Rick bust shots". U know Rick went prison for bustin his gun don't u.....?????
He shot his cousin who stole from him
@@flboy85U right., not many know....,
DAS EFX = Dres and Scoob in Effects
they had an album called Straight up Sewercide
This is 90’s NYC flavor. Baggy clothes, Timbs, champion hoodies, Polo, Guess, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Girbauds and a few other brands as outerwear in the weather depending on the flavor of the year. You still had your occasional velour suit and jumpsuit sets. Basically anything you would wear to play the block. End of the crack era where most people who were getting big money got locked up or were dead. You’ll notice that the big jewelry isn’t worn as much either as in older songs. Even Rakim wasn’t rocking the big pieces anymore like that
Barz on top of Barz... Lyrical Gymnastics
LORDS OF THE UNDER GROUND: HERE COME THE LORDS 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Where's the sewer youngin"? ..... UNDERGROUND
What made this song, and Das EFX go crazy was that almost every line was a cultural reference, if you randomly search a line there is a reference to it, dope group from the EPMD tree!!
Considering you're a few years younger than my daughter i love watching your reaction to these songs i kept in rotation as a teenager. The 80s & 90s were golden! With that being said you need to check out Channel Live & Krs one "Mad Izm" 🔥
Great classic track reaction 🔥🔥🔥
Dad Efx my favorite group of all time
It was EPMD (Eric And Parrish Making Dollars) b4 that……
My JAMMMM...RIGHT HERE!!!!
“The motha…. Just spit on me” 😆 😆 😆
Check out "Tennessee" by Arrested Development.
Chief Roca lords of underground thank u4 this
When you hear someone say, Give it to em Dre, thats Redman on the adlib.
When the captions just say "music". LOL
Yo I love your reaction to the old school tracks. Keep um coming
The references were all relevant to the time . Movies, tv, commercials, cartoons etc
I'm glad you enjoyed the joint! Continued Blessings
That's the name of the album.... Straight From The Sewer
Hands down, the most original rap group ever. They invented their style. We used to call this style Grimey... nowadays Grimey means something else but for us it was a style.
Them being in a sewer represents the underground. How you hear real hip hop. It's always been that way. The songs that don't get airplay. So commercial. They were a crossover smash bc they brought the underground to the main stage. That is the point of the sewer. We dwelled in those conditions as well just getting back and forth. Ultimately the underground is the real hip hop sound.
The album is called Straight from the Sewer
Hip Hop Hooray.
My maaaan 🔥 What a banger!
Next up you should difinitely check out their another track: "Hardcore Rap Act" - it will blow your brain out one more time 🤯
Das killing it
loved the guitar sample from James Browns :"think 74".
Their entire crew was tough. EPMD, Redman, K solo (check out “spell bound”)
Das EFX and Keith Murray
The album was called straight from the sewer . This the that giddy 90”s nyc hip hop . Eric sermon on the beat
The sewer represents the gutta, being from rough neighborhoods, Teaneck NJ and Brooklyn stand up!
Bruh. . This REAL HIP HOP!!!
In the EPMD video "So What You Sayin" they're in the sewer. Dre and Skoob (Das) are a spawn off of that vibe. In the song "Underground Rappa" they rap the same rhyme scheme with no "iggity". The whole 3rd album has no "iggity"...
2nd album u mean
the shoutouts in this song are crazy...
Dey Undaground Rappers So Wer Is Betta 2 Defind Dat Status Also Dey Hav A Song Straight From Da Sewer
This is the das efx song i always liked best
The name of their first album is straight from the sewer....and it's because they had and underground sound. First of its kind. They really don't get the credit they deserved!!! Highly under rated.
Das was truly underrated
@robertmikinka their second album was crazy. I still bump that shit!
