  • The #canucks had their development camp scrimmage tonight in the Father Bauer Arena at UBC. Both teams really impressed me, however I felt like it was a bit of a choppy game--but thats to be expected with two groups that have had only a few days together really.
If you liked this video and would like to see more in the future, please consider buying me a coffee. The java really keeps me going and I appreciate even the smallest tip, thank you!

All the top picks were playing solidly, with Willander showing a lot more offensive upside than I initially thought were in his wheelhouse. I was hopeful that Alriksson would have steadier, more controlled hands, but that was not the case. Here's to hoping that his size can be used more effectively, but I found his tenacity to drive-in plays a good sight to be seen.

To all the budding kids out there.
Keep an eye on the details. Lost of heel-to-heel "mohawk" turns by both forwards and D. Its a critical part of any high level players game. You see Kaprisov and Crosby using it all the the time to shake defenders and protect the puck. High level defensemen use it all the time. Even in this video, you'll see their prospects using the technique all the time.
Thanks for uploading this. Good to know the Canucks have a lot of talent coming through right now.

Glad you like it! I do too, except for the fact that It is concentrated on one end, but it makes for a more focused viewing angle. Also helps how intimate Father Bauer Arena is!

This is really cool to see. I really wanted to go. Who stood out? Anyone we should be excited for?

There were a bunch that stood out to me. All of our recent top talent were solid. I think the most impressive and almost reassuring was Willander and his offensive skillsets. A lot more shooting and stick handling than I was expecting, really. I really enjoyed watching Pettersson, has some great blades on his feet--didnt create many opportunities for play, but he knows how to dispossess an opponent and maintain possession. Alriksson kinda fell a bit flat for me, unfortunately. He just didnt seem like he could keep up with play. Felt as though the puck was often getting very lost on his blade and there was a lot of handling which also fell flat. Im hoping though with time he can get better, as his massive frame would be lethal in combination with some great hands--hes deceptively quick, and has a decent shot, not the best in 1v1 situations with the keepers though!

@@9eightFilms THANK YOU! That's awesome to hear. To me, our top five prospects are Aatu Räty, Tom Willander, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Elias Pettersson 2.0 and Danila Klimovich. The only ones I feel right now will def make the NHL are Räty and Pettersson. But I've got more hope for Willander now!

tall 87 blue is a defensive liability in this game, forces bad pass to d partner, losing the puck, chips up middle to other team

      87 would be Joni Jurmo.
