The correct way to use this setup is with 2 contactors in series switching the load power, if the one welds closed in operation the circuit won't open in an emergency. The safety contactor is useless if the supply cannot be broken.
As previously mentioned, you should use two series contactors with NC aux contacts wired in series to monitor for welding. I know this is only a test rig but you should probably mention it in the demo.
