Hi Kim! I have been thinking about what I think are cultural differences when it comes to cutting up fruit and preparing snacks for the kids. I am Swedish, born and raised, and no one ever made me an afternoon snack. I would walk home from school from the age of six, make myself an open sandwich and maybe eat an apple, orange or some other fruit. My mom was actually a SAHM, which is not very common in Sweden, but I would still make my own after school snack. Fruit was kept whole until you decided to eat it, then you would just wash it and eat it, holding it in your hand, taking bites, and that is still the way we do it. The kids started cutting up watermelon independently as soon as they were strong enough to do it. And, they have never, I say never, cut themselves. Our kids have been making their own snacks pretty much themselves from around the same age as I did. Oh, and a tip for the kiwi: just cut it in half without peeling it (or encourage them to do it themselves, mine did from the age of three) and let the kids grab a spoon, cupping their hand around the half fruit, to eat it. Yeah, I sound totally obnoxious, but I do not mean to. I just meant to tell a little tidbit about the Swedish way😁
Me too! I live in southern CA and we have two ALDIs in my city at either end. I do the bulk of my shopping there and I’m able to fill my entire cart for under $100 and not with junk, tons of real food that my family loves 😍👏🏻 ❤
Good morning Kim! I was just thinking that you should get some Birkenstocks! Much better arch support than those flat sandals and way comfier 😊 They are super cute too! Have a great weekend everyone 🌼
I feel like Aldi is not the store where you go for Monthly groceries... It's the after-groceries grocery store... where you complete your list 2 weeks later or top up your produce. I think though they have the Best Vegetables! Fresh, Crunchy, Yum
You're right, it's the store I go to weekly, sometimes bi-weekly if I'm lucky for the bulk of my groceries. There's so much rich entitlement in these comments hating on Aldi. They have quality foods at affordable prices! But keep going to your expensive grocery store.
@@katiec3214 there's also another German store called Lidl where I go to mainly for my kids' snacks knock-offs. They have a really good selection and unbeatable prices. But I still need my Main grocery store for Foods that are varied and staples. Lidl & Aldi don't have everything.
@@nadinekore6308 I go to Aldi weekly, Costco every 2-3 months and a local grocery store called Woodmans every 2 weeks/1 month. Aldi absolutely has staples. But I'm an ingredient household I suppose overall.
When I buy bacon, I fry it up right away, then freeze it and it’s a lot cheaper than buying already cooked. It takes about 20 minutes, which is worth it to me.
I started dying laughing at the “loud noises every 4 seconds” comment at Aldis because it is seriously so true 😂 whenever I shop there I feel like I am in everybody’s way and it is sooo loud lol
A lot of aldi stuff is actually name brand just in a different box. If you get the ranch from the produce section, it's in an aldi bottle but has a bolthouse cap on it
Aldi has really decent chicken salad with cranberries, even my husband liked it. Aldi is hit and miss but I do like looking around the store. I agree with you about store brands versus name brand, however I have never been disappointed with Kirkland so far. Let us know how their egg bites were. Great video, love the ending with everyone in the kitchen, Wolfgang with the boots on made me laugh!!
Good morning Kim, my son and his girlfriend shop weekly at Aldi’s they love it. The only thing I buy from there is their loaves of bread. I can buy 3 loaves for the price I buy at the grocery store. Our Aldi’s is packed everyday. Everyone loves the “aisle of sham.” Lol. Have a great weekend.
I have been seeing several reels of people shopping at Aldi for their weekly dinners and they typically pay from 60-100!! I’m like I need that!! And they will show what they bought and a recipe. I need that too! My nearest Aldi is over an hour away and we went to one for the fist time 2 weeks ago. I got a little bit of stuff to try and I have to say their jarred spaghetti and Alfredo sauces are great. Better that others I’ve tried. And I don’t care for jarred Alfredo sauce. I would have loved to have bought some frozen items and meats but with this heat I don’t know if it would keep on the drive home
I did a multiple store grocery trip yesterday. You, lady across the room, are so much more joyous while you do it. 😂 Also for those sweet kiwi loving kiddos…I finally started peeling them with a vegetable peeler for my girls. Most fruit left over and I think it’s faster for me too!
The first and only time I have been able to go to Aldi was in 2017 in Kissimmee. I loved it hoping to get there again next year when we are in Florida again. I have since found an Aldi store just 3 hrs away across the border from where we live. Really hoping to get there before going to Florida.
Kim…my Aldi is 10 miles away….so no I don’t go there… you do sourdough…so I’d like to see you do sourdough pizza….looks easy on Utube…& cheaper if ya already have sourdough!! Love y’all! Have a fun summer!!!😊
I go to Aldi every Wednesday because that's when they stock the new Aldi Finds. I do my big shopping trip once every 3 or 4 weeks though. It's just my husband and I in the house so we don't need a lot.
Okay I haven't made it to the Aldi haul yet but I recently bought the organic blue corn tortilla chips (they were on sale for $1.89 yes please). Anyway, my new favorite! Tortilla chips are so salty for me and these were perfectly seasoned and I loved the texture of the chips (lolol). Also, if you can find the Aldi roasted salsa verde, LOAD UP. It's so good. I make a salsa verde chicken soup with chicken stock, poblano peppers, onions, garlic, a jar of the aldi roasted salsa verde, and some shredded chicken breast that i cook in the chicken stock.. anyway, five stars, do recommend.
The brand Aldi sells is name brand under a different name so they can sell it for a freat price. They sell name brand as well which is alittle cheaper then then the grocery store. Have a wonderful rest of your day. Aldi in NC has good potatoes and some of their store brands are quite good but I agree on name brand can veggies. The name brand it much better
I have a idea for Wolfgang's closet put a small book shelf with hinges on it so it will open up to his brothers room then when you open his closet it will look normal but it's actually a hidden door to the next room and it's useable as well you could paint the inside of the book shelf to look like a tunnel I think it would be cool but up to you it's just a idea could be cheaper than taking the hole wall down just cut out were the book shelf will go and paint it to mach his closet I'm just trying to help you out on some ideas
Aldi’s Friendly Farms Cottage Cheese is superior to all, I was always let down by other stores both brand names and store brands until I found the GOAT of all Cottage Cheese!!! I only tell this to really close friends so help me keep it on the down low. Their cheese selection is amazing especially for cheese boards. I have also found so many household gems in the middle isle for my home especially kitchen items from big cutting boards and huge cast iron skillets also electric salt and pepper grinders. I LOVE Aldi.
Australian licorice is the best Kim… with that being said I must admit I do not enjoy raw meat as well 😂…. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m Australian and we are weird like that… and us also liking Vegemite as well you know.
I love Aldi! Your Aldi looks likes it’s been gone through and a bit messy. My Aldi is much cleaner and more organized. We actually prefer Aldi brand because it doesn’t have artificial colors and less chemical preservatives than name brand. Just flip over the back and compare. Of course they have not good stuff as well but the fact that they don’t use artificial colors is essential for our son. Maybe try going first thing on Wednesday morning when they restock. I’ve bought so really amazing products from the Aldi aisle of shame! We don’t have a Publix, Trader Joe’s, or Costco close to us to Aldi it is!
A little background info is that ALDIs owns Trader Joe’s so the products are the same just different packaging. I have many items that I buy from ALDIs but not all their stuff is great
Kim! I recently discovered the Walgreens Whey Chocolate protein. It blends great and is ACTUALLY affordable. I compared the ingredients and protein amounts and it meets my needs. Maybe Alex would be up for trying the Walgreens brand that is a third the cost? Just thought I'd share with you friend as I enjoy it myself. 🤞❤️ Also Mexican food is life. 🥰
Aldi recently hit lower Alabama too, still a drive for me. Can't do weekly but a big once a month hauls is so worth it. 5$ per chicken breast locally 🙄 plus ten percent....lol
