One time, when I was a teenager, I followed two middle-aged women who had made a mess of my neighbor's trash. I told them to get back there and clean it up! And they did! If I tried that today I'd probably get shot.
Same here in the Philippines. I'm already living in the village and seems the village guard doesn't mind at all every time I complaint. It's okay for them to pick our junks but PLEASE do not leave a mess. grrr! And here in the Philippines, when there is a mess out of garbage bag, garbage man don't picked it up. grrr!
I saw a video online that people are leaving canned goods and extra cleaning supplies on shelves. The shelves are in a utility area of an apartment building.
I live in a wealthy neighborhood and I find it incredibly hard to give away things, even in our Facebook group. It was much easier when I lived in a middle-class neighborhood. There are a few things at play in this current neighborhood: ° Everyone already has what they need. I've noticed most of the families here are (1) now mostly in the phase of decluttering/minimizing/simplifying, (2) participating in very specific hobbies/activities different from their neighbors so they don't all want the same things, or (3) are into experiences/travel as opposed to buying and owning more things. ° Our neighborhood has an HOA that does not allow leaving garbage cans or items outside except for trash day, so leaving things out for free doesn't happen. We also don't get tons of drive through traffic because of the next point. ° Our community is on a mountain top about 2000 feet in elevation above the surrounding area. A lot of charities will not come up here to pick up donations (it got worse after Covid restrictions). All that being said, a lot of us do take things down to the nearest charity. But I know that sometimes people have a lot going on in their families we may not be aware of and they are just focused on getting things out of their house quickly to create order or they are changing phases in life (kids growing up, empty nesting, making space to take care of aging parent or spouse, retiring, etc). Anyhoo, just thought that might give some insight as to why sometimes people throw away "good things"!
@@bethfromchicago8719 I teach in a special needs inner city school. Most of my students have emotional / behavioral problems and we are the last stop before juvie and/or prison. We have found having a shelf with food, clothing, hygiene products, etc., has made a huge difference in how the kids feel about themselves, a sense of peace knowing they will have dinner that night, and clean cloths so their classmates don’t give them crap for smelling. One time my neighbor was throwing out a great drum set around Christmas time. I thought of selling it, but it’s a bulky item and hard to store. I put it free on Craigslist at 10pm that night and some viewer guy went ballistic! He said he works at night and needed to buy his boy a set of drums cause his kid loved his dad’s drums so much. He came right away and got them. He told me his jaw dropped when he saw the quality and condition! Sometimes it’s fun playing Santa, even if u don’t get paid for it! Those memories will be life long for that price!! 🤣🤣
When I lived in Utah I gained the title of RCGennell's. Why? Neighbor was tossing a Dinette set that needed a wash cloth and a little repair on one chair. I said hey leave it in my driveway not the dump. His wife went ballistic when she heard I never touched, took a pic, posted on let go and sold it for 40.00. So glad you’re cool about it. Less going to the landfill because of these guys! We always put our goods - even the smaller stuff onto the curb or right on top of the garbage cans so they find it quickly ✅👌💯
Car stereos after Xmas used to be plentiful I had tons but these days all factory stuff. When I was in sanitation you new when electronics was good because rich neighborhoods cut cords off all them so they didn't work. Just had replace the cords. That's rich ppl for ya.
I put out a stove and a glass top coffee table where the glass had been broken. No sooner did we walk in the house and a young pregnant woman came to the door asking if they could have the stuff. They lost everything to a fire.( there was a big apartment fire just days before) my sister and I pulled it back from the curb, they had to go get a truck. By the time they got back we had cleaned the stove up and I found the books that went with it. My neighbor cut a piece of plywood for the top of the table. Then on top of the stove we all put extra bedding and can goods for them to take.
A couple of years ago I found a round antique table with dolphin-face legs. It was painted white and chipped and the previous owner had painted the top a weird lavender. The paint was ghastly but I liked the table. It sat in my garage for about 3 years, then I decided it would make a nice little table by the front door to hold mail. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 sample-size mixed jars of paint (you're supposed to paint it on your wall to see if you like it but I do other things); one was sort of an ochre and the other was cream. I used the ochre for the base and the cream for the top; I also painted to sides of the top so that it looks like a different piece on top of it. I mixed it with a powder compound first that eliminates the need for sanding; I just hosed it off outside. The compound and the 2 sample jars came to $15. I then went to a glass place and had a piece of glass cut for the top, then I bought an adult coloring book with flowers. I found a pattern I liked and took it to Staples to have it enlarged and shrunk on different pieces of paper because I wasn't sure how I wanted it to look, then I cut everything apart and arranged them in a pattern I liked; leaves and flowers, and taped everything to one side, then flipped it over. I used Tri-Chem liquid silver pen to trace the outlines of everything (otherwise it would have just looked like blobs of color) and bought some textile paints at Michael's with some very skinny-tipped brushes. (I already had some on hand so I didn't have to buy everything.) I did this over a 3-week period to make use of their coupons that come out routinely. When my project was finished, I took off all the taped papers and flipped it over, so that the paint itself is on the table and the glass is on the top. I think the textile paints cost me maybe $20 total. I now have a table that looks like I spent a fortune for it.
At some point in life, it can get overwhelming & besides rich people don't have time for that. BUT he may surpass them someday, his truck &house are pretty nice, too ; )
Glad you not over charging for items that was once garbage. Most donation that go to the drift store over price, and that why they dont have quick turn arounds.

I never take TVs but I just got one then went back for the awesome tall tv stand with glass front doors at the bottom. Get home tv works, no remote but too big for the stand. Nice size tv too!
That huge printer is actually a plotter, used for printing maps and such. I work for oil & gas, those suckers are EXPENSIVE but huge! The Melisa & Doug toys can be resold for a decent amount.
8:27 that green glass thing with the "bumps" all over it is worth a lot. I can't remember the artist of course, nor what the line is called, but I distinctly remember the antiques roadshow type show that said each piece is worth one's time and whole sets are a total score!

The guy and his wife furnished their whole home over the years with the stuff he came across. beautiful very high end furniture and antiques. BTW, driving in the evening like that be sure to stay safe!
Don't know if you still have the Pachinko machine. We had one growing up in the 1970's. You fill the top tray with metal balls. The lever at the bottom right when you push it down then let it flip up that sends the metal balls shooting up around to the left side of the game so the metal balls drop through the maze. I don't remember how a winning score is kept. But as a kid just the metal balls the noises it made was fun. Similar to American type pinball machines.
If you wait until the end of the season they are much cheaper. Even at the middle of the season , they are cheaper than in spring and early summer. And I’ve seen cheap prices on them when grocery stores sell them and it’s at the middle or end of the season. .
If I went during the day a lot of this stuff would already. I’m not the only picker out here that goes at night and there Steven more pickers and scrappers that come by in the morning. Haha thanks Smitty
Just love the train horn in the background! Great video
Haha this video pops up on my list of suggestions--I click on it and there is my house!! Told hubs someone was going thru the trash! Nice score! 😂😂
Awkward
Haha that's awesome. Great also that you don't mind!
So glad you’re cool about it. Less going to the landfill because of these guys! We always put our goods - even the smaller stuff onto the curb or right on top of the garbage cans so they find it quickly ✅👌💯
I’m surprised u didn’t get viewers yelling at you to stop adding useful items to the landfills and donate instead. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Good one
Bed bugs are so bad in my area there's no way I would pick up anything from the trash in my neighborhood.
I agree they're bad all over U.S.
Yes they are. U gotta be careful and those little terrorists are hard to get rid of. They can torment the hell outta u.
Car stereos after Xmas used to be plentiful I had tons but these days all factory stuff. When I was in sanitation you new when electronics was good because rich neighborhoods cut cords off all them so they didn't work. Just had replace the cords. That's rich ppl for ya.
No they would cut the cords to sell the wire dude!
7:10 is a printer for floor plans seems that the previous owner might me an architect of sorts
Pinball machine thingummy has a mid-century modern design. That kind of vintage, SOMEONE is going to want it bad. LOL
It's a pachinko game.
Nice find !
Very cool
Its straight up sickening to see all this good stuff people throw away instead of donating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I agree! I think some people don't have means to haul it to donation or pure laziness
Disgusting that people throw away perfectly good items that can be donated!
I love doing curbside!! You just never know what you can find 🐱😻💜💙❤️🐈🐱
6:59 Bro that’s literally the printer we use at my job! It’s hella expensive, it can print anything you want from puzzles ,canvass and posters. That’s crazy that someone would throw that away, like it’s easily a 2,000$ printer.
Yeah I learned that one the hard way. I must say that it was really heavy so I was gonna have a hard time getting that in to the truck
Thank you for saving the Radio Shack hookup wire. That is a holy relic from a bygone age. Lord I miss Radio Shack, America is just that the same without a local Radio Shack store in every town.
Mann.. I miss it too, if i ever open up shop.. It will be "Radio Shack" best business name ever
So many thing they throw that is still useful
Thanks for saving filling the garbage dumps!
The pachinko game was a sweet score!
I LOVE CURBSIDE SHOPPING 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me too!
Good! You took the photo of Clint Eastwood!!...... ✌️❤️🌷
8:27 that green glass thing with the "bumps" all over it is worth a lot. I can't remember the artist of course, nor what the line is called, but I distinctly remember the antiques roadshow type show that said each piece is worth one's time and whole sets are a total score!
Hobnail
I was just about to say that😂
I’m new to your channel.. love what you do.. great finds and more and more people have more money than sense!! ♥️
Thank you Paula
I still say, I like how you pake the stuff in the truck. You know how to get her done!!! I watch another guy that picks & he often gets # of comments on how her needs help in learning how to put stuff in his big long bed van. Some times it's nerve rakeing just watching. Also, I like your attitude. So, was wondering if you ever got stuck, from going thru trash cans & bags; when theres this big knive in the trash can your diging thru, EEKS!!! Do take care. (FL.)
Funny you say that because I will get a few comments every now and then from people telling me that I don’t know what I’m doing ! LOL, oh well
Haha I know who you’re talking about! Taco Stacks.. he doesn’t care, he’s more into scrapping than the reselling 😁👌💯💯✅. Still entertaining & relaxing to watch but yah a few tubs in that van would help him out 😅
Instead of sitting to watch tv at nights you go out, how productive!!
Hey you can't leave Clint Eastwood! That's from the movie Hang'em High!
I wonder if the signature on it is real...
Ummmmm, yeah, you really want to look up the ostrich Beenie baby! From what I just saw they don’t make that one anymore. It’s a retired figure. The low figure was $720.00
Wow, thanks I’ll look into it
Absolutely Fantastic haul Juan!! Very exciting, I just loved the pin ball machine and the squirrel, Excellent finds, had a great time watching the one and only Texan Picker! Your just awesome!! This video rocked !!!
Thank you!!!!
Word of advice, try to use your flashlight really close up at an angle for TVs. That'll give you a pretty good idea if it's cracked or not as you will more easily be able to see it that way
20:51 id love to have that tripod!!!!
My sister actually has one of those pinball machines. She uses it as a piece of art. I think that’s about all you can do with them unless you can find someone who knows how to fix them.
Just found your channel and it's very impressive. Just to let you know that patchinko machine if you still have it it's collectible item and may bring you few hundred dollars if not thousands. You'll be surprised. Good luck
Thank you
I appreciate that
So FuN to tag along with you!💕we live in Houston too! Wishing you continued success!💕
Hey! Thank you! 😎🤘🏽
I know, right??? He was having the best time, finding treasures & appreciating 'good finds' Kudos to the Texas picker!
You’re so great that you always tie the bags back up. I’d appreciate that. We have a neighborhood chihuahua that gets into trash cans. That dog is always loose.
You should’ve kept those thermoses.
We have a chihuahua like that too, his name is Frank. LOL
It's an awesome night for picking trash treasures, even with some treasures were left behind. GREAT VIDEO AND GREAT CONTENT. THUMBS-UP ALWAYS!!!!!!!
Still addicted to watching you 😄
That’s what I like to hear! Thanks 😊
wish i lived there to so i could do this trash picking with you , love this kinda thing
I remember I did it one time n went to the flea market the coming weekend n sold all the stuffed animals for 50 each n when the ladies be picking up the stuffed animals n putting it all in their face n we would laugh afterwards n only if they knew those were in the garbage lol
😂
I drove past some strange looking stand...ended up being a hand made 3 story doll house. I cleaned it up, had my grandkids play with it a few years, then gave to my younger nieces who LOVED it a few years. THEN when they grew out of it, they sold it for $50....was a GREAT FIND!
That was an amazing haul. Too bad you couldn't get that huge printer. Julie from Canada 🇨🇦
Great finds I’m glad your keeping things out of land fills
Those kitchen knives can be very expensive. Being in a rich neighborhood I'd say they were expensive ones. You should of grabbed those.
Looked like Cutco 💰
Cool scores brother thanks for taking me on another adventure I think I like watching you just as much as I like finding the stuff myself
Thanks Chris
@@TexanPicker what happened to the Clint Eastwood signed photo I would love that when I was a little boy I wanted to be Clint Eastwood I love those Spaghetti Westerns Good the Bad and the Ugly Fistful of Dollars a few dollars more and Two Mules for Sister Sara excellent
I Could have fixed the squirrel!! A little bondo and paint- good as new!!
I really miss my trucks. I collected lots of stuff in my past. Nowadays, I only drive a car. Once in a while, though, I'll still pick up something, depending on how far away it's from home...and its size, of course.
I sit here going 🤫 shhhh... they’re going to hear you 🤦🏻♀️ Lol! I wish I had the nerve to do this!
lol, me too! It's really not as loud as you think. The camera picks up everything!
lol ... ditto
I just subscribe to your videos and I'm addicted!! I'm having a blast! You seem like a nice guy. Its incredible the things you find in your videos. major thumbs up to ya! Hey, I used to work with this lady who her brother-in-law was a garbage man in one of the super, super old money wealthy areas Hillsborough in northern California. People would throw out stuff like, a complete set of high end antique china, a box of jewels were found, over 100 year old Victorian German and French dolls , on and on. The guy and his wife furnished their whole home over the years with the stuff he came across. beautiful very high end furniture and antiques. BTW, driving in the evening like that be sure to stay safe!
Hi thank you for subscribing! Yes people throw out the craziest things! I to have lie of decor in my house that I found. Thanks for watching!!!
Some knives have a lot of value... I always check them at thrift stores and yard sales.
Yeah I didn't see the brand but they looked like German blades. $$$
I sold it
I wish I could find a patio set😢 they are so expensive
If you wait until the end of the season they are much cheaper. Even at the middle of the season , they are cheaper than in spring and early summer. And I’ve seen cheap prices on them when grocery stores sell them and it’s at the middle or end of the season. .
These videos should be done during daytime
If I went during the day a lot of this stuff would already. I’m not the only picker out here that goes at night and there Steven more pickers and scrappers that come by in the morning. Not only that, the trash in these neighborhoods usually gets picked up early in the morning. It’s a lose lose situation. I know what I’m doing, just sit back and enjoy.
Hey bro that is an awesome sign especially in rich neighborhood wow I didn't know which people get rid of their stuff and throw it away that's crazy but at least you found it you can sell it have have a wonderful night and be very safe to and I enjoy watching your video very much thank you for sharing sincerely suszie
Thanks Susie
I live in Missouri up here we call trash picking or dumpster diving we call MUCKING. And I love doing it. I just go out when I can and see what I can find. I have sold some of it. Gave away to people kept for myself. I furnished my own apartment from it. I love to find unique things. My son loves all the cords I can find him. I just love it. But I just found your channel not that long ago but I watch you every single day. Thanks for doing this and putting it on you tube. I have subscribed and liked. Left comments but you have never commented me back. I'm your #1 fan in Missouri.
I try so hard to comment or at least give comments a ❤️. Sometimes I don’t see all of the comments either. Please take no offense. I really appreciate each and every one of you
@1:0. A Pachinco mashie. Expensive to fix. We had 1 growing up. It’s a Japanese gambling game. 👍
So much fun to watch 🧚🏼♂️ Hope you continue your endeavors of treasure ✨Thanks for sharing 🧐
Will do, thanks Elizabeth
I'm a Chef. You should have taken the knives
I know!! Wasn’t that big knife great for cutting watermelon??
He is not a chef, garbage pickers probably don’t need them...
Love watching your channel, you had a great night,, thoes little school desk are so cute, 🎉💞💕
Did you get the Clint picture hope you didnt leave Eastwood behind lol. Have a great day!
I got him, don’t worry
I was like...what! He's leaving the Clint Eastwood picture!? Like it's any of my business! Thanks for the show!
I took it.
After a night of junkin' i have to wait till morning to . It's such a rush and by the time I get home iam beat.
Absolutely
Just found your channel. I live up between the D and the FW. I have a love/hate relationship with picker videos. I love celebrating a great find, but hate seeing when someone leaves something behind that I know is a total win. I do often learn something, so there's that. Rock on!
I appreciate that.
