    I have the JET Superslide Hybrid Table saw / Cabinet saw and it's the best tool in my entire collection. Love JET equipment. Excellent purchase

      My first wood working machine from JET and it seems well made. It is nice to get a machine that works nice right out of the box. Thanks for watching.

      Thanks. I found a nice young man with a flat blacktop drive and gave him a good deal after explaining all the problems. Glad to have that out of my life. Have a Merry Christmas.

    I have the exact same sander and couldn't be more pleased. The one thing I did was to purchase a very small scissors jack to put under the table and use that to raise and lower the table....as trying to keep the table level while tightening the knobs can be a little fussy. Also, keep and eye on your 90 degrees between the table and platen as with a lot of use, it can move a half a degree or so...no matter how tight I have the handle locked down. Congrats....you will love this machine!

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I plan on picking up a scissor jack or small hydraulic jack next trip to harbor freight. I am thinking a fixed adjustable stop for the 90 degree position because that lock lever is in a strange position and as you say hard to lock without shifting the angle. JET did a nice on this machine. Thanks for watching.

    I have the same sander. Had it for a few years now. Dust collection works pretty good with the shroud closed. Using the spindle with the shroud open it makes a huge dust cloud. Other than that, I love mine. Great video! Enjoy your new tool.

      Thanks. I think it will see a lot of use. I was thinking a clear plastic cover may help with the shroud swung back. JET makes a nice machine for the price. Thanks for watching.

    The driver usually does not destroy your shipment it is the workers on the cross dock moving it from one trailer to another, one trailer from the shipper, to the trailer that delivers in your town

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      UPS freight is the worst. I watched the driver totally destroy the plywood crate my jointer came in trying to turn it and get it to the lift gate. Luckily he only damaged the paint on the machine. You are right because the dock workers should have placed it on a pallet he could get the Jack under. This driver was one of the most courteous, friendly, and professional drivers I have ever met. Thanks for watching.

    They never put the red and black tape trim on the base on mine. I just bought this thing about a month ago. Every jet tool I have has this trim.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023

      @@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Probably a supply issue during the pandemic. I always have to call them for some reason or another, but they're great about sending a part out no charge.

    Is the sander still holding up? Others have complained about the belt constantly needing adjusted. Is this true?

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023

      No problems at all yet. The original JET belt was junk. Buy good belts and they track fine. Thanks for watching.

    If you ever have the time and resources, and of course if that doesn't butt up against some state or local law (lot's of those in US, i found out with perplexion), dig up your driveway fill it with coarse grade rock and then put back gravel (i think that's gravel, right?) on top. That way, water will drain below long before there's chance for any mud to form.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That has been on my mind. When they put it in they only used about a foot of item 4 over the clay so moisture is always pushing up through it with freeze / thaw cycles with no place to drain. Thanks for watching.

    Are you able to lock the oscillating feature? It doesn't seem like it will be useful to me.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I wouldn't have a sander like this without it. Some companies still make non oscillating ones if that's what you need. It's my favorite tool in the shop. Thanks for watching.

    Other than price, was there a reason you chose the Jet sander over a comparable Grizzly? Thanks for sharing.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The grizzly was overkill for my needs and twice the price with a 1 year warranty. It came down to the JET or Laguna. I bought the JET because it comes with a 5 year warranty and I wanted to try out a piece of JET equipment. They did a good job with this one. Thanks for watching.

    You could have one of those worm and half gear setups on these, i wish i could remember the name of the channel, a metal worker who does custom work, he modified one of these (or similar, but it was a Jet) with such a setup. I think he used a Makita setup, but i might be wrong, i saw the video quite a while ago.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just curious, but why didn't you go with the Grizzly version since you're primarily a Grizzly user?

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I had issues with the Grizzly planer when I bought it and decided to try different brands. Then I purchased the Laguna bandsaw that had an improperly machined casting and vibrations which took weeks to get replacement parts to fix. So this time I took a chance on JET and I think it was a good choice. Plus JET offers a 5 year warranty on this machine. Thanks for watching
