@billsummy2412 Thanks, Pard! What can I say, I'm old school. I just prefer traditional sights over red dot on my handguns. 👍😎 Thanks for watching. Stay safe and healthy. Peace
I agree with you 100%. At the distances that bad things happen, a dot is pretty much useless. I do most of my training a 3,5, and 7 yards for that reason. Most commonly you need to be able to get a shot or two off at 'bad breath' distance. Also, every millimeter you add to your gun makes it harder to conceal.
@vernongibson1194 Thanks. Much appreciated. I see people all the time (nubbies/first time gun owners) put their targets way past their present skill level. 10, 15 plus yards down range. Shots all over the place. No consistent groups. Most don't realize that most self-defense encounters happen up close. Room distances. I practice at point blank, 10, 15 and 20 feet with my handguns for self-defense. Good to hear great minds think alike. 👍😎 Thanks for watching. Stay safe and healthy. Peace
I carry a G3C IWB at around 2:30 and a LCP Max as pocket carry backup... no red dot needed nor wanted... The best red dots have a giant Illuminated circle with the dot in the middle... That circle helps navigate your eye to the dot much faster... But I'm sticking to irons, but I'm almost 51 so my eye sight is not what it once was... so I'll never say never... (oof... those rascally paradoxes.. lol)... Perhaps one day I'll go with a red dot, but not today. They seem like a laser, my reaction time is infinitely faster not using a laser... With the laser in some hypothetical scenarios one could conceive, sure they might be beneficial, but for normative engagement not so much... Good video, thanks for sharing n' God bless brother
@eze008 Red dots are great on carbines, but I prefer traditional sight on my handguns. As for shooting from the hip... Practice, practice and practice some more until it becomes second nature. If it were me, I'd start from ten to fifteen ft. Thanks for watching. Start safe and healthy. Peace
I put a red dot on my HDX for the sole reason that I disliked how tiny the iron sights were on it when I would practice hitting the various small targets from 25-30 feet or more. Up close, under 15 feet, it's not really needed as I fire at center mass. It's probably silly, but it does help me when I want to target practice with it and it's at longer distances. On my regular less lethal launchers and my 9mm I just use the iron sights as they're more than enough for quick aiming.
@Joreel On a rifle/carbine or rifle like self-defense option, a red dot makes prefect sense. Not so much on self-defense handguns in my opinion, unless you're planning on shooting longer distances. Again, just my opinion. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and healthy. Peace
@cogicmj You could... That said, if you're not used to using red dots on handguns there is a learning curve. Meaning, you really have to put in the time to get proficient with it. Personal I'm fast getting on target with my traditional sights when it comes to handguns for self-defense. But hey, give it a try! You might like it. And if not... You can always take it off. 👍😎 Thanks for watching. Stay safe and healthy. Peace
@@redzone1019 right on 👍🏾 brother. I also may get one for the Byrna LE that I have. I know they sell them on their website but thank you for that information.
Excellent analysis.
