It's a theological saying that suggests what happens in higher realms - particularly the divine - also has bearing on the happenings of the material realm, which is quite accurate considering this song is not-so-subtly about Teridax taking control of the Great Spirit's body and the chaos resulting therefrom.

@@Essenger I'm glad I wasn't making that up when I heard it! I'm not really familiar with Bionicle lore, but the images that came into my mind listening to the music were of some ageless 'caretaker' in a bunker somewhere who has progressively become absorbed in some virtual world of their own design, being VERY reluctantly persuaded by their computers to perform their original, largely-forgotten duty and awkwardly, un-confidently re-engage with the outer reality (bemoaning the unsuitability of their tools for the task) for the purposes of preventing it's destruction in some fashion.
It's a good set of images, especially considering what's going on in the world these days.

Words cannot describe how INVIGORATING it is to hear Christine's vocals in a new song once again. Essenger fits in with them so naturally too! This might just be my new favourite Cryoshell song.

i may have been part of the generation that barely got to experience Bionicle on its original Run but it’s happy to the people who lassoed me into the series in the first place making a new song for Bionicle around the anniversary of the first (worldwide) Bionicle movie

"As Above, So Below" fits hauntingly well with Bionicle, as you see the MU or the island of Mata Nui as "locked in your paradise/sanctuary that burns while you play God (Mata Nui or Great Beings)", monsters coming out of the shadows, these machines were never built to make things right/ burn alive (First being Mata Nui's destiny, 2nd can apply to the countdown the Mask Of Life was going through that if not stopped would have wiped out all life in the MU.) And the rest of the lyrics just hauntingly highlight how dire things were for the beings in the MU. From Mata Nui and the MU slowly dying, to Teridax's machinations causing chaos for all beings, and the worst of the inhabitants taking advantage of the chaos for their own goals like the Piraka and Barakki.
I feel that song also fits both of the LEGO movies as well

Also that artwork is fantastic, it just drips with homages to 2005-era Bionicle. With what looks like Metru Nui being held in Mata Nui's hand is beautiful imagery and I love the fantastic and clever way of implementing the band's emblem and how it forms the city's layout.

"The World Outside is Dying while we Slowly Drown": Mata Nui sinking into the depths of Aqua Magna.
"Not Living just Surviving": The Matoran that had fled from Metru Nui and are wandering aimless on the surface.
"Locked in your Paradise, our Sanctuary burns while you Play God": Makuta Teridax who drove the Matoran out of Metru Nui to the surface and torments them for his own amusement.
"As Above, So Below": Self-explanatory, Makuta Teridax seeking out manipulation and control the Surface just as he does from within the Matoran Universe.

"While we slowly drown"-Matoran suffering from Makuta's forces.
"Not living, just surviving"-Toa and Matoran helping and assisting each other to fight against Makuta's shadows as best as they can.(I remember sometimes that some Matoran would stand up and fight like the Toa)
"Locked in your paradise"-Toa, Matoran, and Turaga know they are trapped under Makuta's curse.
"Our sanctuary burns while you play god"-Turaga and Mata Nui know their home is under threat as long as Makuta is alive and still threatens their home.
"As above, So Below"- Not too sure on this part, but honestly makes me think that Toa, Matoran, and Turaga live above on the island's surface, while Makuta lives below doing what he wants with his power and keeps Mata Nui in slumber.
I don’t have a particular interest in Bionicle (or LEGO in general) other than knowing a few things and thinking they’re cool, but my older brother grew up with them and absolutely adores them even all this time later (he ordered a bunch of legos just so he could get the recent complimentary bionicle set with it)! he still has a bunch of the original figures with their cases and even one of the happy meal toys. as such, I saw a lot of it and got to hear cryoshell at a pretty young age. though the series wasn’t my thing, cryoshell immediately caught my attention. I remember my brother had a bunch of their songs downloaded onto our xbox 360, so while playing marble blast I’d be listening to a ton of cryoshell.
thank you cryoshell for bringing my brother so much joy and for making the incredible music you guys make! even these new songs strongly capture the feelings the original bionicle tracks gave me as a kid. even though I’m late, happy bionicle day. :]
By the Great Spirit, this is such a good song! And the Chorus Lyrics match perfectly with how Makuta Teridax's ultimate plan unfolded. Spherus Magna (the world outside) was basically dying, all the while The Matoran Universe (A Sanctuary) was thrown into chaos when Teridax usurped control of the Great Spirit Robot. It's so damned Perfect, and I love it!

Bionicle aside, if anything this song sounds like a critique to how society is today; how people are relying more and more on technology (A.I. for example both in dating and taking jobs, art, writing, etc.), how wrongs are becoming right and vice versa.
I believe Essenger said it boils down to society's complacency while the environment suffers due to how our use of technology is irresponsible, and realizing that our machines can't save us from encironmental collapse.
The more you know about Bionicle lore, the deeper these lyrics get.
Our *Unity* makes us strong as the Toa. Honoring the BIONICLE Legends is our *Duty* Remembering the BIONICLE Legends is our *Destiny!* It shall forever pass on.

This refers to MataNui not paying attention to the village inside him and instead choosing to wander and observe the outside planets.
The villagers inside decided to revolt and they allowed Makuta to take over MataNui's body in hopes he would free them. Instead, Makuta inslaved his people.
Fits more makuta, mata nui was forced into slumber.
@@_S3R4PH_ if you listen to the voice actor of Matanui narating what would have been the next two movies in the legend reborn trilogy he says that he was not paying attention and then Makuta was allowed to take over Mata Nui's body and he was cast out. The forced slumber thing was a different time.
