The blasphemy of comparing this to Ali when Ali fought a mma fighter in the same year he fought 4 professional bouts, 2 of those being against Ken Norton and Jimmy Young whereas Fury will have been out of the ring for 10 months 🥴Ali had just had the thriller in manilla the previous year and had somewhere north of 17 title defences, Fury in the middle of his prime again, 10 months from his third defence against ancient Chisora. Ali also let the mma fighter kick rather than just take his head off in boxing rules.
Well, its different now. We also see how fighting with such high volume effects your health. Ali, Fraiser, Hearns etc. It wouldn't be allowed today and I doubt anyone wants to take that many regular blows to the head knowing what the inevitable outcome is

Fury fought his mandatory last April. Anthony Joshua was fighting 1 mandatory every 3 year for each of his belts between 2016 and 2021

Secondly, if you're unified there's set rotation between different organisations, based on when they were picked up. Even then your maths is off though(wrong). His IBF was picked up in 2016, Takam in 2017 was the IBF mandatory(on standby in the 2nd mandatory spot to replace Pulev... that's why they have the 2nd spot). It would have been sooner if not for the vacant WBA unification bout with Wlad. His WBA was picked up in 2017, Povetkin in 2018 was his WBA mandatory. Again, it would have been even sooner if not for another unification bout for the WBO with Parker. Then in June 2019, AJ was granted his first voluntary since 2016, against Miller Jin the USA, who was replaced by Ruiz Jr and AJ lost that voluntary but won them back in the rematch. Pulev earned his way back to IBF mandatory with wins over Chisora and H Fury but COVID pushed that fight back to late 2020. Then AJ had to fight WBO mandatory Usyk in 2021 and we know what happened there.
Long story short, I've seen Wilder and Fury fanboys spin false narratives around AJ's voluntaries/mandataries. None of them ever get their facts right, that I've seen. I'd also say most hardcore boxing fans would put a unification bout over a simple mandatory in most circumstances(all things equal) for obvious reasons, none would disingenuously try and lump them with voluntaries, tomato can level at that. How disingenuous can you get?
AJ did two of his voluntaries in 2016(same year he won the IBF), Breazeale and Molina. The only other voluntary was Ruiz Jr. Breazeale and Ruiz Jr should never have been considered bums given their rankings(one was undefeated and top 10 IBF, the other could have been WBO champ and undefeated with different judges). Molina was never anything more than warm up fight while the WBA unification with Wlad was being agreed(number 1-2 ranked HW in the world, who Fury ducked a rematch from IMO).
Fury has had worse opponents than Molina since coming back from 'retirement'. Wilder fanboys especially have no room to talk because Wilder got buckled by him the year before and they were actually trying to rate that as a credible win(amongst others) unlike AJ fans. Both sets of fanboys seem to really scrape the barrel trying to create these weak-false narratives, forgetting/not knowing about their idol's opponents like for like(no room to talk). The real boxing fans aren't just a fan of a boxing personality(idol worshippers) like those types, so they don't need false narratives or to bend the truth to lift anyone up or bring them down... The lack of even handedness in their takes, stands out like a sore thumb but they seem oblivious to it and bank on everyone else not knowing enough to see when they are blagging it or twisting the truth to fit their narratives.
This is becoming beyond a joke.Fury,Warren and Co are turning the heavyweight division into a bloody joke.Where are the governing bodies in all of this.Regardless of whom,strip them of their belts if they price themselves out of it or refuse to fight opponents who have the other championship belts.Then we will see if Fury is the best fighter of his generation or maybe he is afraid of getting exposed as the overrated hype job that he really is.
Eddie Hearn is and always was the problem. Low balled everyone after he bought AJ the titles and priced his golden goose out of wilder and fury fights for good reason.

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with most of this, calling Fury a hype job is a bit of a stretch. His talent is exceptional, which is why it’s such a shame he’s not going for the unification.

The whole purpose of a mandatory is to ensure the best fight the best and not cherry pick and duck opponents as Fury is doing. It should be 2 mandatory's a year. Nobody can accuse AJ of ducking hence why he has a few losses.

Apparently it’s an exhibition fight meaning no knock outs, it’s not even on boxrec. Free up the WBC belt and then there’s no issue.
Jim was right, there is no jeopardy in this fight. Even if, by some miracle, Ngannou knocks Fury out, Fury will still be undefeated, he'll still keep his belt and everything will continue as normal. Literally no point watching this circus because there are absolutely no stakes!

Frank Warren was about to equate fury in the WWE as the same as Ali vs Inoki before he got cut off. Someone needs to tell Frank that Ali vs Inoki was an actual shoot and not a worked WWE match lol. Inoki was a legit guy who Ali knew the risk was too much and it's why his team changed the rules.

There are two ways of looking at this. Its Fury ducking a title fight or the WBC have messed up by not mandating a challenger. Fury next fight has to be to defend his title against a top 5 WBC ranked fighter.

Heavyweight boxing is dying. The best they can come up with after 11 months since fury fought chisora is fury fighting an mma fighter who has never boxed. Usyk fights once a year. Wilder never fights. Ruiz jr never fights. Joshua fights twice a year against losers. Proper boxers need to fight 3,4,5 times a year against proper contenders.
