I find it sad how Nanao's mother assures Shunsui that keeping the sword will not bring him any misfortune, considering that while he had it hidden, every important person to him (except Nanao) died 💔
I agree that Central 46 were evil, but the thing with the sword kinda makes sense here. This is 100% a theory, but it's very possible that the Ise family sword is the one that was made to dismember the Soul King. That's not the kind of thing that they want floating around randomly.
@@maattthhhh They wouldn't have known he had anything to do with it's disappearance. Once she was sent back to her family, that was it, as far as they were concerned her connection to him ended after that.

If you look back to Senjumaru's Bankai we can see that she defeated Lille Barro by reflecting his own attacks. Similarly, Pernida was engulfed by black soil. Black soil in Japanese means Kurotsuchi. And Mayuri Kurotsuchi was the one who defeated Pernida in the end. So there's a theory that Senjumaru's Bankai is a reality weaving Bankai. Also Shunsui was told that he wouldn't run into the curse by hiding the sword anymore but that wasn't the case. He lost his mentor or father figure in Yamamoto, colleague in Unohana and a friend in Ukitake.
ngl I love the design of lille barro. The owl design is so scary and terrifying. A lot of people would disagree with my opinion but I think Kubo cooked hard af with this form.
@@paulylopes6762 no I agree with you, a lot of people found him ugly but his sole presence alone already giving the vibe of a god-like being, like a creature you should really be afraid of. His unique design is what made him my favourite quincy/royal guard.
Shunsui and Nanao's backstory was really nice to see. But man, I feel something for Shunsui. He lost so many people close to him and had to shoulder being Captain Commander of Gotei 13
It is pretty sad how everyone does seem to leave Shunsui with seemingly incremental burdens. His brother left him his prized possession and his wife to look after. His "big sis" left him with the sword and Nanao. Yamamoto left him with the entire Gotei 13 and the safety of the Soul Society. Jushiro at least just left him the burden of having no friends.
the story telling of this anime is like watching a play in Japanese theatre...it has raw emotions and it makes you feel emotionally attached to the character...i'm not gonna lie, i cried in this episode especially with the theme soundtrack "Soundscape to Ardor" playing...
I feel Shunsui's bankai weaponizes the 'cursed fate' of characters in tragedies, and was influenced by his belief in curses due to his experiences in his backstory.
Yall spitting this whole episode catching ALL the details, like the owls being afraid of shiny objects, about shadows and light, the references to angels, Central 46 and real politics, etc. This why I watch the reactions! Fun fact the Ise family is real, the Ise Grand Shrine is the most sacred Shinto shrine in Japan.
Lille's second Vollstandig design is incredible because he's supposed to be a literal divine angel inspired by the biblical angels who had monstrous forms and didn't look like generic humans with wings and white robes. He's a combination of a seraphim and a cherubim in design although the owl face is a little jarring and probably Kubo's take on an angel. Lille's final attack, the Trompete is reminiscent to the eight cherubs playing their trumpets and bringing about a terrible judgment in Revelation - and the Trompete also looks like the geometric Gabriel's Horn which is another cool reference by Kubo. It also shows just how powerful Yhwach has become as the new Soul King/God of the Bleachverse since his own elite subordinates are now divine guardians. Not just Lille but also Gerard who you will see next cour.
Yep, yhwach's royal guards are no joke. Remember these guys defeated the Soul King's royal guards in 1v1 battles without using their full vollstandig, a single Gotei 13 captain ain't gonna be enough to beat these guys, that much is clear now.
Bro, the soul reapers are so sinful, just look at what they did to God's messenger, but at least we still have his majesty Yuhabaha, with him all of us who are on the right side with the quincies will not fall into despair. 🙏
Outside of Nanao's sword coming out of nowhere, this was a brilliant episode. Just wished the anime had set it up even just a little bit. Hell a little comment from Nimaiya or even Ichibei would have been enough to solve a lot of the issues with the sword. A lot of people are coping that this was the Soul King's sword. To them I'll just say this - you are missing the point. The sword's existence itself isn't the issue, the problem is that it comes out of literally nowhere. I am fine with a god like being killed by unconventional ceremonial means. It just needs to be set up and built up unlike what happened here.
Nanao was never shown with a Zanpaktou and instead has always been depicted as an advanced kido user. Every member of the court guards has a Zanpaktou which leads to the question, "Why doesn't Nanao?" This episode answers this question, while also shedding light on the relationship between Nanao and Shunsui and removing the shadows that held her back. She was aware that Shunsui had the blade, which was shown in flashback and because she asked for it, implied that she knew it would be useful with dealing with Lille. This all makes sense and is foreshadowed based on what we know of these characters. The only issue is that the blade is meant to deal with "Gods", which annoys people because such an important weapon should have more pomp and circumstance. But the sword is just a means to complete Shunsui's and Nanao's role in the arc. I honestly think if instead of being described as a god, Lille's X-Axis fully powered turned him into a being of light and the Ise Blade was just a reflective mirror, folks would have less issue with it.
We've seen Nanao numerous times in this show, never with a zanpaktou. The bread crumbs were always there. It has long been a question as to why she was the one soul reaper in the series that didn't have a weapon and only used Kido in combat. Nemu didn't have a blade either, but she was an outlier being a Lieutenant of Mayuri.
@@defro125 What nonsense. Just because she never showed her Zanpakuto does NOT mean oh she has a weapon that can one shot a guy even Shinsui cant beat. Thats just stupid high reach.
