When the Alfasud came out on the market I was immediately in love of it for its advanced technology and beauty. I installed a fully electric black leather Recaro seat on the driver seat because the original front seats were non-supportive for the back. In this my first 1.2lt I also added a smaller and sportier Motolita black three-spoke steering wheel. In the first year I clocked up 75'000 km travelling up to Kirkenes, Norway,down through Sweden and another time through Finland. Plus many time through France, Benelux, Italy, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland.. Yes, the paint was thin so I had to repair the stone chips from Scandinavian roads in the North driven always in Rallye style incountable times. Then I bought the 1.3lt Alfasud Lusso, drove it again some 100'000 km in all Europe before I finally had the 1.5 Super adding again not only the Recaro and Motolita but let it tune by Facetti, the then famous works Lancia Stratos Rally Cars tuner. Two Webers, 20 HP more. Again used for work and travelling in whole Europe. This one I sold with 137'000 km on the clock. I loved these 3 'Sud and drove them all mostly at full speed. They were extremely safe, fast in corners, very spacious. My then girlfriend was an excellent co-pilot and became my wife. All three in the same colour combination as in the Video. Memories. Beautyful memories!
the years that Alfa Romeo were too much ahead of its competitors. 1,2 boxer motor with 6750 or 7250 rpm red line, which it was easily turning to 8000. manuel 5 short/sport gear, extraordinary balance that helps you to drive fast & turn the corners much faster than many other. because of that, Alfasud became to no.1 choice of Italian mafia, than after the choice of the police :) we had model 1977 of this car, original paint were green, but it was re-painted to silver gray after shooting by some gangs in TR, bough from secret service agent in that day of 1983, i was just 7 years old. start to learn driving with ALFASUD in when i became 12-13 years and since that day, i am an Alfisti, till the end. the sound were always pushing you to drive +5000 rpm.

Ne ha avute due mio papà prima che io nascessi, la prima usata la seconda nuova entrambe divorate dalla ruggine in breve tempo.. Un auto che ha fatto storia seppur non con la gloria delle sorelle più grandi.. Storia di tempi migliori..quando essere italiani era una cosa di cui andare fieri...
My father's first car. Beautiful shape, great performance and the sound is unreal! Too bad most of them rusted away and there is no body I can find to fix and drive again.
I also had a 1.3 ti from 1978.. One double carburetor, "closed" gearbox and 75 HP which seemed 100.. Same color, blue.. The large doors hung and did not close easily. It had a few minor issues, but... It had the most "adjustable" rear end in a front-wheel-drive car. He literally "taught" you to operate the brake with your left foot.. I remember being able to turn it around on the spot with proper handling (transportation of weight..) as if it had a hand brake on the rear wheels.. Extremely safe, with zero understeer, and extremely accurate steering wheel.. I was running like crazy, and I never touched anything... Amazing car, unfortunately very rare today..

what would be a find would be a black 4dr sud with napolina on it as the napolina company ran a compertion in the uk in the 70's I think there were 5 cars to win.they were black cars with the napolina logo's and strips Italian flag colours.that would be a rare sud.
Why oh why doesn’t Alfa remake this car? It has all the attributes of being a drivers car and yet practical for a family. It’ll never happen of course, that time has been and gone. I was just too young to have bought one of these gems, but it would have been necessary to rustproof it like crazy such was the steel and paint. Lovely example in the video.

Yep I had one of these in the UK in my younger days!! Loved it. Did have a few Rust issues but mechanically it was awesome.
