After keeping orchids for a while, I've noticed that in my dry environment a 90 percent long sphagnum moss medium mixed with a little bit of orchid bark keeps all of my orchids happy. Possibly, if you ever want to get back into orchids, you can try that.
Omgosh same. I've also fallen out of love with my philodendrons a little bit. They're just too finicky and I'm getting so much more joy from my lower maintenance hoyas!
I used to struggle so much with orchids, too! But since I potted them directly into a pot with 70% long fiber sphagnum and 30% orchid barks they just keep on pushing out new leafs and flower spikes. Maybe that’s something to try for your little orchid too? Greets :)
Ugh I dealt w the jewel orchid, until I actually planted into substrate in an open terrarium. Grow light. Now every time MOMZ comes by she takes what has grown out of the opening of the terrarium and pups that are easily taken. 🌱❤️🌱🌱❤️ Surprises everytime she comes because I had not noticed how quickly it has grown.
I love my Nummularioides! I got it in August with only 7 leaves. Today it bloomed for me and it’s not even a foot tall. Lol Very pretty and fragrant flowers. They are pretty tiny. I’ve had my Nummularioides exactly 3 months today. It has 5 peduncles now. Hopefully all will bloom and not drop. :D
Wow! you got rid of so many good plants. I feel you though, my jewel orchids addiction has stopped. They grow, but then after awhile they kinda look meh 😑.
oh I have the Gigas and was thinking of adding an melanochrysym and splendid to my collection as well. I think you're the first I've heard this from that prefers the gigas over the melano, I think I'm just gonna stick with gigas and maybe get splendid if I come across a trade for it.
How refreshing - thanks for the post

The two syngonians mentioned, I thought they were the same. Thanks. Now I know. The frosted is coming. 🌱❤️🌱❤️
