Rans S7, Rans Courier, RANS Aircraft, Randy Schlitter.
The Rans S7 was developed to be a trainer for the Rans Coyote single place aircraft. Like the single place it has a left hand throttle and a center located stick. It is designated as the S7 Courier in honor of the Helio Courier. The 1st production aircraft was produced in 1985 and was powered by a Rotax 503, 50 hp aircraft engine with a 2.58 to 1 reduction drive. With this engine weight on the Courier S7 came in at just under 400 pounds.
Since 1985 the aircraft has undergone a number of changes, the fuselage has been lengthened, and the tail section area has been increased. The power plant has also been updated to the Rotax 912 series of four-cylinder aircraft engines.
The aircraft is available in kit form and thus can be built in the experimental amateur built category, with building times of approximately 1000 hours. It is also available in quick build versions which can cut the building time down considerably. The S7 can also be purchased as a light sport aircraft ready to fly.
Equipped with the Rotax 912 100 hp four-cylinder aircraft engine DS 7 has a climb rate of approximately 1000 ft./m and cruises around 110 miles per hour.

I’m interested to know where you got those pictures of the S-7S kit in a garage next to a blue Suzuki SV650 since that’s my garage.

What year was this interview? I called recently and they said they no longer offered the quick build kit for the s7s.

It must be 2010 or so. Randy mentions LSA, which were introduced in 2006. But the demo plane still has spade ailerons. They changed the design some time around 2012.

Former Kitfox pilot here, two different S-7's in the last 20+ years, over 4 K hours in type and no plans to change! Until I can get a S-21 wing on my 7 fuselage that is......
