I've sketched and planned for this so long. I don't have the technical skills nor programming skills to come up with such elegant product. I thought of each and every feaature and I thought I'd keep it simple so that people would find it easy to use. But I love to see that someone else has come up with such a package.
I hope to see this in the market in Finland cuz this fits exactly our triple glazed windows with blinders in the middle!

Someone please explain to me why I like this content so much. I don't even own blinds like this, but I watched the entire installation and demo.

Bout time! I've been looking to make my blinds smart for years now... and I'm glad it's by SwitchBot.

Brett, the solar panel wire is actually able to be under the valance. Our blinds have about an inch from the blind base out to the valance. Also, the latest iteration has a cover for the half circle solar panel power cord holder that looks better. Also, the latest iteration is quieter as well. I actually purchased 16 which will do every window we have except in our bathrooms. We're really looking forward to getting them and automating the opening, adjustment and close throughout the day.
Also, I think there may be two light sensors, the one you show on the solar panel and then secondly the little hole on the front of the main body of the blind tilt is a light sensor for inside the room as well.

Good video brett. Been following you for a bit on my personal page and using your channel as inspiration to grow my channel as well. It is tough and I understand the amount of work that goes into each of your videos. Switchbot just sent me their Blind tilt final version and it does address a lot of the issues I can see with this version you have. Plus the new hub is pretty awesome as it supports matter and allow integration in to homekit. I'm waiting on the delivery of the hub to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I replaced all my tilt blinds in my house with home kit blinds. I guess I'll be doing the installation at my mom's house and using your video as inspiration on how to make my video.
Keep grinding - lots of us looking up to you man.

Great video, and thanks for doing it. I've wanted to automate my blinds, but I just can't justify the high cost of most of the ones I've seen. This is perfect, and I jumped on the kickstarter.

I got mine via the Kickstarter recently. The mounting to the blind rail has been modified and he Solar panel, although still provided, is no longer needed to mount the blind properly. It plugs in the side at the top now, instead of being integrated to the mounting hardware. The two light sensors is a really interesting idea (one on the motor, one on the solar panel). I know there is an AI option in the app currently, but it doesn't work at the moment. The silent mode isn't exactly silent, but it is quieter and not much different in speed in the updated version. Silent mode is quieter now than it was in the beta version that.

What do you recommend to smarten up window blinds? I've got some blinds over my jacuzzi tub that are difficult to reach, but the wife likes to keep up for the plants in the bathroom. Leaving them up all the time in the bathroom, next to my glass shower has made for some "interesting" experiences with the neighbors. I'm nun ot willing to shell out the big bucks for custom blinds, but need something that integrates with my google smart home ecosystem. Thanks!

This is cool. I've had the 1st gen Switchbot curtains and haven't had too many issues, I'm several years out now. A bit surprised they feel the need to use Kickstarter with the success of their other products. I have 3 kids, if I got this I'd for sure cut off the wand to prevent them pulling it off the tilt mechanism!

is it safe to assume this works with their other hub? I cant remember the name or the difference, but i have the cloud shaped one with the milti colored LEDs inside for my bots and curtain controllers now.
