520Hp Honda Civic Type-R FN2 || K24 Turbo ONBOARD

- This is Owen Bridger´s Honda Civic FN2 Type-R, powered by a k24 with 4Piston head, Garrett 4088R Turbo, delivering over 520Hp/550Nm and surprising everyone on Simola Hillclimb 2022, one of the most cometitive and "Monster-filled" event of the year. Among many 800+Hp AWD and RWD Aero-clad machinery it almost brooke into the Final Top 10, placing 11th by only a single tenth. Running a Quaife 5-Speed sequential gearbox, Hondata Kpro ECU and Hondat traction control, it is a true example of how far a FWD machine can be taken. Although that may be sepaking too soon as the plan for 2023 is to take a whole lot of weight, add Aero and shoot for an even faster chrono, maybe even breaking into that infamous Top 10 list..we´ll be here to document it...
What a machine! Would love to see Will Au-Yeung come to Knysna with his Civic (when its rebuilt) and humble some guys alongside this beast.

one of the most overlooked and underrated cars ..the FN2 ..in part because Jeremy Clarkson bagged the crap out of it...Brilliant drive..you are a true Underdog. well done for having resurrected this platform to something supra-physiological and completely shocked and upset the field with it. love it.

well cl9 is the typ-s cl7 is the standard and yes the have the "same" engien exept that its different typs a2 and a3 and cl9 have 190hp and standard have a little less cant remember how much

Same, the last nice honda - look is ep3 for me, and ep3 went ugly for me aswell, it just get a bit beautiful because all the honda build after looks like space shuttle

Boost by gear in a hillclimb car? Might be something worth looking into.

It could be running boost by gear or traction control if it uses a electronic throttle. Many time attack cars have adopted electronic throttle now, seeing as the fn2 comes with electronic throttle from factory it could very well be the case
Original FN2 with K20 have 6,6s from 0 to 100km/h(60mph) I really dont know what I will be doing with 500hp+ at comunal roads 🤣😂

That’s a crazy build and a proper driver behind the wheel! I own a k20/k24 Frankenstein FN2 running 260whp and I’ve been thinking of putting some boost through it but I’ve got a very high compression(12:1) so I doubt I’ll be able to stick a turbo or a centrifugal supercharger on it 😅

You can see how much he needed to adapt his driving to not fight torque steer. Looks like he is driving a hot rod. Leans on tires to survive corner, and then makes sure he is not agressive on power at exit. No understeer though.

I wonder did he get rid of the Solid axel rear suspension 🤔 this was the worst handling civic .
Still running the stock rear suspension on a cheap set of BC coilovers. Jeremy Clarkson gave these cars a bad Rep.
@@owenbridger do you have a Instagram page or something I can follow you on. It’s an insane build. I was looking at getting a fn2 but was worried it’ll be bad at handling compared to my st180. Although you just proved that thing can fly with the right set up.
Worst handling yet was faster than both ep3 and ek9 type r around top gear track !

Do you know if there’s anything out there listing what you need to do to the fn2 to throw a turbo on and make it 400hp stock internals ? I want to do that to the fn2 I’m thinking of getting. Just not too sure what will need done to the car. I don’t know anyone in the U.K. near me with any k20 turbos 😂
I thought about buying a eBay turbo kit using the pipping and intercooler ect from it along with the dump valves. I’d plan on getting my own side winder turbo setup using a pulsar gtx3582.
Not entirely sure how these kits would fit the fn2 though 🥲
Would be more fun and faster with awd and without traction control
