    The panel hole diameter size for standard GA instruments is 3 1/8 inches. The smaller size for the FSB-Steam Gauge Panel is surely a compromise of various factors. Did you find the overall panel size and instrument size to work well for you?

      You're a gem! Thanks. So 98mm - 55mm. A bit more than my suggested 20%.

      Rearding the size of the dials. I never found it an issue however, I haven't experienced real-life size dials before. I could see how anyone coming from that real-life experience might not like it.

      @@g-locmedia These dials played no factor for me being smaller; I own/fly a Beechcraft Musketeer (1963) and have flown all types of Pipers and Cessnas and size was absolutely no factor for me in the sim.

    Awesome review, great format and video quality. Whenever I fly single pistons I use steam. So this would be cool to have

    Another very clear and helpful review. Thank you. I have just installed the G1000 suite from FSB and the customer service was fantastic. I had some user error setup issues and the team at FSB were very responsive and helpful. Love it.

    I have the FSB G1000 suite, and their GNS 530, and love them.
    This product looks nice, but Air Manager + Knobster works fine for me - although I appreciate this does not have the "realistic feel/immersion factor" that some folks may be looking for.
    Also - don't forget the metal stand is not included - this would be an additional USD $75 🙂
    Regards, A

      I too have the G1000 and am super happy with it. Yea Air manager with a knobster is the next best thing. I did have a message flash up on screen to say the stand was an optional extra, but I just looked back at it and it's not very big or up for long. Apologies for that.

    Can you show more of how you set it up in your rig? Physically, not software-wise.

      Yep I should have done that for the video. It would have given more context. Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it.

      @@g-locmedia +1 on this. Please provide the dimensions for the instrument panel frame you built. I have looked high and low. That would be invaluable to all those looking to build a more realistic instrument panel with this new FSB product or other solutions like Air Manager / 23" Monitor.

    I will say that yes, this is truly a quality product and very nice if you are, like myself, a steam gauge pilot. Support is great as well. My issue was with XPlane 12; working with support and the installation with boost mode was not there and thus we could not get it to work. I did try it with MSFS 2020 and it was flawless. Unfortunately, all my instrument training is with XPlane and that's what I use. I'm now waiting for FSB to release new updates for XPlane and then I will definitely revisit this.

    • @rmm9676
      @rmm9676 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I wrote to FSB on this issue. They advised that the full X-Plane integration with Boost is planned to be complete by the end of June or earlier.

    For almost $500 to substitute a mouse over seven dials? I just don't have a need for that. What would be fun is a similar product without the cost of the screen, to be used in VR. I've held off on a G1000 unit for the same reason. I don't need the cost of a screen when it's just the buttons I'm after, so I'm plenty content to hold on to my money, and my mouse.

    400 Dollars? Just get a touchscreen display and install Helios... and then configure the screen how you like.

  • @TheCrash1983
    @TheCrash1983 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

    400 no way that's a joke right, its a monitor with a few potentiometers on it. cant justify that price when there are so many better options.

      @@g-locmedia the most straight forward one would be just use a second monitor, you could even get a touch screen one there is a free software called helios its ment for DCS but you can use it for other games like star citizen and any flight sim.
      if you really want the potentiometers 400 would get a really good 3d printer, and if you can code a leo bodnar bored is plug and play, and leo bodnar even sale pre soldered encoders.
      also the new winwing stuff thats coming out soon is cheaper and better quality, combine that with cheap monitor and you get a lot more for your money.

      @@g-locmedia by a seconded monitor you are paying 400 for 7 encoders and a plastic cover. will the money you save you could buy the new winwinng stuff that's cheaper and better in every way.

      @@TheCrash1983 There;s definately a few ways you could do it. The closest would be air manager and a tablet with a knobster but still not comparable. The new winwing stuff looks really cool but they didnt release an GA sim gear,. I think it was just Airbus and Boeing. I'll have to go back and check. Are you picking up any of the new winwing stuff?

      It's difficult when your running triple 4k. Even a few frames scraped up is worth it and losing clarity on those bottom monitors for me I'm happy with that.
