This video was actually filmed before the previous ones that I recently released, but I had to wait for the copyright block to release it. So my audio comment in the beginning is referring to older videos haha 😃
GOOD CHOICE TIMES A MILLION ON THIS REACTION. \m/ I have seen Skillet live many times. I even met all the band members while they were on tour headlining the biggest Christian Rock band tour of the year. Got a signed copy of their Awake and Alive album from all the members too! I have always idolized Jen Ledger the drummer/singer. She OWNS her drumset every night, her voice is lovely and Angelic sounding along with John's the lead singer/bassist, she's British and has the wonderful accent we all know and love and she is an absolute sweetheart when you meet her. ❤
You're probably familiar with Skillet for song Monster - that song was *everywhere*. You said you like sad songs, and while there aren't a lot of sad songs from Skillet, they do have some that are pretty emotional. "The Last Night" and "Not Gonna Die" are probably the most emotionally intense. If you can, find a version of "Not Gonna Die" with the extended intro - you won't regret it. "Valley of Death", a slower song from their most recent album might be considered sad. Their one *actually* sad song is "Lucy" - it's about a couple they knew who lost their baby. Mostly their songs are more uplifting and motivational, though. Anyway, Korey Cooper is the girl on the rhythm guitar; she's married to John Cooper, the lead singer/bassist. Drummer is Jen Ledger - she actually sings on a bunch of songs as well and is an incredible vocalist (Jen sings on Not Gonna Die, but Korey sings on The Last Night as that was recorded before Jen joined). Seth Morrison is the guy on lead guitar and the newest band member, though he's been with the group since 2012 I think. Skillet actually started way back in 1996, but John's the only original member. Korey joined in 99 or 2000 or somewhere around there. At that point they had a different drummer who was also female named Lori Peters. She left the band at the end of 2007 for personal reasons and Skillet had to find a new drummer. Jen Ledger played drums where the Coopers went to church and was friends with their daughter. John thought she was too young and didn't want her to audition, but Korey really didn't want to be the only girl on tour and pushed him to let her try out. John made her play harder stuff than anybody else did, but she killed it! For a long time their lead guitarist was a guy named Ben Kasica, who joined the band when was 17 I think. He left in 2011 to pursue a career in film making, and actually produced one of Skillet's music videos after he left the band (Back From the Dead). Seth is pretty quiet, so nobody really knows much about him except that he can shred, LOL.
These guys "and gals" can really play live shows like no-one else! I was blown away by their stage energy and prescence and even pyro!......and the best part of all they are a Christian band!! Spreading the word of Jesus Christ! Also check out Flyleaf/Lacey Sturm , and the band RED, both of which are also Christian bands! God Bless you!!!! 💜
Wait until you hear Jen (the drummer) sing. :) Lots of energy always, especially their live concerts! But, if you're looking for dark/sad, they typically have a very positive, uplifting message.... or you can do this, fight for it, type vibe. That's actually what I love about them, though, and what I don't like about a lot of other metal.
