Just found your channel today. You make me laugh out loud and I mean that in the best way. And this painting is just lovely! Can't wait to explore your other videos! Thank you!
As I was doing a fantasy doodle on a very large page, I came across this brilliant mystical piece. Thank you so much. I have added in your mushrooms. Blessings to you. keep doing and not editing. Thank you for no music. I can’t tell you how brilliant this piece has been for me to hear you work in right brain, creative space. This is something most of the TH-cam tutorial teachers are resisting. Stay in right brain. Don’t worry about what to say or how to explain. We can see, even if you don’t speak.Stay in right brain space. It will make you a star.
Very fun, this is my fourth video of yours I'm binging. I call the underside gills if it's smooth, not sure what that's called. Anywho, having fun watching and liking. I like your raw personality, sure beats the fake happys out there.
I love the way the background looks like a misty forest! You deciduous trees look like the Ponderosa pine trees we have here in northern Arizona. I love it!
So many of my paintings go sideways and I think they are not salvageable. You having frustrations and not being in your best mental state and still painting gives me hope. I used to think I had to be in the perfect mental/cognitive state in order to paint. If that was true I’d barely paint. You validate me and give me hope!
Hi Julia! Thank you for the awesome tutorials. They have really helped me understand watercolor. But, before I knew better (only been watercolor for 9 months), I ended up with a ton of shimmer metallic paints. And I do not know what to do with them. I have tried to paint normal paintings with metallic and it doesn’t quite work. Can you please offer a couple of tutorials?
I enjoy your art work, but I would love to see your reference picture because your mushrooms are not accurately depicted. They are called Amanita and are frequently used in art work. The underside of the cap is white and all parts of the stem are creamy colored with shadows of course. The little fringe part on the stem is part of the vail which tore apart when the cap separated from the bulb at the bottom as the mushrooms grew. Probably TMI.
It’s fantasy. And it’s intuitive. It’s not botanically accurate because the intention is fantasy. Noticed that she is in right brain. Noticed that when she is processing in right brain, it’s very difficult for her to speak at the same time. Speaking takes the left brain. Creativity takes the right. It’s difficult, if not impossible to stay in right brain and then try to use the left at the same time. This is a brilliant piece to show intuitive, right brain creativity.
Thank you for watching my watercolor mushroom forest painting!

I love the perspective of the mushrooms against the trees. Feels very fairy-like

They look beautiful - I googled them.
Love it. Super work in background forest. One teacher said it's more difficult to paint small than big.
Not sure I agree with that haha
Love it!! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!

We all have those days. Keep painting! 😉
If you don't want the doll look on the mushroom try using someone like indigo or pereleen violet for the shadow. Black always gives that effect.
Thanks!

The lines under the cap are called gills, I think.

You guys always teach me so much :)
Probably shes just painting naturally and fun, not trying to teach real mushrooms. Relax
