Absolutely. Sometimes the technicality leads to a less exciting fight but the speed at which these guys were transitioning along with the passes , some I've never seen before definitely was fun to watch.
@@XSR_RUGGER Most definitely. I really enjoyed watching this match. The groundwork was amazing on both ends. Offensive and defensive, and I agree with you that some technical fights might get boring to watch unless you understand the things that are happening, and I don't claim to know it all,but this one was really high end imo.
@@DogTBH Agreed. I like the subtlety of a more technical match but I know a lot of people who don't. This was all those little things but they were not done subtly 😆. I wished it had 2 more rounds or a rematch.
2006 before DJ became a professional athlete. I was honored to have wrestled him in Springfield Missouri. So proud of my brother. Keep on scaling brother .
I've only circumstantially learned some wrestling/BJJ and did a tiny bit of grappling with other grappler/friends who know some. So I'm not gonna speak as a authority figure on this, but i love how amazingly educational DJ"s fights are for the entire subject. Despite fighting world class fighters, DJs is almost textbook in every way he advances positions and deals with tricky situations. From the tricks he uses to control the legs while having his back taken, to how he mixes strikes with a little bit of explosiveness to go from half guard to a better position, I almost feel like a better fighter just taking notes on it. He seems to have simplified grappling into some of its most basic parts and consistently executes it perfectly with his own flavor. This has the added benefit due to its simplicity of being extremely easy to watch and understand what he's doing, while remaining extremely effective. Its something that should be appreciated to its absolute fullest. Bravo
his mistakes are extremely rare, the only one he did here i assume was that first leg lock, he underestimaded that arm slide across then the leg, Wada tried it again in the end but DJ being DJ and that damn high fighting IQ of his, immediately stopped it 😂
That 2:15 never seen this back-take technique before. It's so good! That arm triangle control type hold looks so dominant I'm not even sure what the defense is. Turning in? Seems worse!
The problem here was that Demetrious let go of his only overhook and had no underhooks, meaning Wada had full control to navigate in the clinch. Whilst the back was being taken, if I were Demetrious (although in the moment I don't think he recognized what was going on), I would've blocked Wada's right hook with the foot with my right hand while turning into him (towards my left) like you mentioned.
I loved it when DJ laughed at Jamahal Hill when he said he was going to knock Alex Pereira. 😂 He’s a genuinely nice person and couldn’t contain his laughter . He’s the goat . People are lucky God didn’t make him 6’5” 245lbs .
Okay for whoever said grabbing the ropes was cheating I agree with you but you got to give him some leeway because he's been fighting in an octagon which is a big difference
Dj could take on 2 bar rooms full of people one after the next 😂 he'd be #1 draft pick heading into a street fight plus a couple bigger guys up front lol
Damn that rear naked and triangle hold plus escape was intense and masterful af. Wow the whole match was a back n forth like that. Seems like a tie match to me
His ability to maintain the same level of explosiveness whether it's start or end of final round, it's superhuman.
it takes ages to realize when to speed up or slow down...can't go 100 24/7
Real skill to figure out how to finesse it at the highest level
Yes..that right..😊🎉
Bros longevity is *legendary*
Demetrius is an absolute surgeon, so technically supreme across the board in all areas of the fight.
Very enjoyable fight between the two 🙏
it's fascinating that DJ has beat his opponent at where he's best. understood where is a strong side of an opponent and made it his weak side.

Dj fight iq is crazy but props to him for still fighting to this i knew no one can outgrapplle him at his weight
I want to see a rematch between DJ and Kyoji Horiguchi
Saya akan usahahkan nanti supaya mereka berduel lagi anda jangan bimbang ok
What a technical fight, amazing. Great fighters. Thanks for the upload, enjoyed it!

That level of effort and mouth closed is crazy.
I seen that aswell, homeboy was breathing through his nose the whole first round
Dj defenceman is too good one of the best underrated geniuses
ah, what? you sayin DJ is underrated?
Bro u never hear people talk about how good of a defender dj is at ground or standing

he does it again in the final seconds of the fight as well. Its actually a really cool technique.

GSP once listed Demetrious Johnson as one of the best fighters in MMA😊😊😊😊 blessings from Canada😊😊😊
honestly surprised DJ gets hate or people find him boring, i guess being humble only works if people can find a way to relate to you
Let’s go Mighty Mouse

A lot of soul-searching and not very far to look this is my personal goat 🐐 for many reasons beyond fighting Excellency
Demetrious !! 👌✊✊👏🙏
this looks cool and addictive
Johnson is the most difficult to fight, same in computer games
Those knees in r2 were brutal
Oooowieee gruesome fight, these two make the devision so dam exciting. Mighty s stand up really held it down 😮💨 but Wadas wrestling 🫡 geezus
Very excited...
It was good fight reminds me of the old times with Jon Jones vs Wada 😅
Demetrious is the GOAT, you can be great, but you are not better than the GOAT
Man that deserved 5 rounds. Great fight
We need DJ vs Liam Harrison
Why? Mouse would annihilate Harrison.
In MT or MMA? Harrison has no chance in MMA, kick boxing would be Harrison 100% 4 or 5 years ago, but now would be competitive.
DJ vs hamza chimayev or Islam majachiv
DJ has one of the highest fight IQs of all time!
Seeing this after the Taira win and seeing this leg thing is common in Asian jiu jitsu
excellence cardio demetrious has
In my opinion Mighty Mouse is pond for pound the best mixed martial artist ever
Wada ain't got nada for mighty mouse.
I respect this guy jonson
I came for the void, I stayed for the void.
Great fight
Very very good 👍 fight
Now final with togtang is much interesting 😅😅😅
Dj could take on 2 bar rooms full of people one after the next 😂 he'd be #1 draft pick heading into a street fight plus a couple bigger guys up front lol
For My, Wada
Love the goat
Yea! Superhuman 😮
Stop speeding up your fight replays please ONE.
Mighty mouse so you wanna grapple 😅
Do Brasil...oh may good
Wada was impressive, then he got cut
That was very close
Jhonson vs gustavo balart 🙏
Wada wanted to wrestle so Mighty Mouse obliged him

Wow the whole match was a back n forth like that. Seems like a tie match to me
Better than DJ vrs Iron Man😊
I’m pretty sure he did lift dj’s leg he was trying to step over the hook?
few dodgy elbows from wada
Johnson like an oilman. Very slippery like an eel, leech. You can hit him, but you cant grap or hold of him.
I love Johnson but grabbing the ropes is cheating.
love dj
Real Might Might
DJ vs khamzat cimaev😁
Dj is a noughty mouse 🐁😊
jongson vs thanh le
Mighty mouse could easily take pantojas belt
YO ice
Is that Eddie's wife I can hear in the crowd?!
Aung La N Sun
WADA IS ONLY AN STUDENT OF JOHNSON & HE CANNOT WIN TO HIS INSTRUCTOR & MASTER. MISMATCH FIGHT
DJ dossnt need any coaching between rounds 😏
Ooooof close
You can still elbow the top of the head?
Draw for me
I could definitely see that. Wada was incredibly impressive.
World’s people don’t like japanes athletes this is fact😊
one chanpion not jijutsu not derribe cancel one chanpion 😡
These commentators 🤦♂️
That was a hell of a fight. DJ earned his money. That wasn't far from a draw. He lost the 1st round by a mile.
