The jam sesh lead in instrumentals to the main songs are the coolest and so unique. They did a Pink Floyd from dark side in this set… one I was hoping they would do is China Cat Sunflower (Greatful Dead tune), in some of their other shows this summer they do it … it’s one of my favorite obscure songs. When I stumble into a clip from one of this tours shows that jam sesh intros with Pink Floyd’s “fearless” it’s more likely than not that a rip in the matrix has been completed by the fellow “blue skies travelers”.
You are right, was definitely a subtle china cat as Sturgill changed his tuning, and they went into fastest horse. - I missed it until yesterday as the start up of fastest horse is an arrangement of the Prajna Paramita Mantra (heart sutra). “Gate Gate Paragate, Gate Gate Paragate, Gate Gate Paragate, Parasamgate”, repeating until he starts singing. I have it recorded / on video as I break into the mantra out of nowhere right on que (appears china cat is my reminder that the nature of our existence is much different than that which we experience in our daily lives)
Still buzzing from Friday night. This “Spirit” had to have been the peak. Thanks for sharing!
