This is one of the songs from my teen years in the 80s that I never forgot, all these years later. One of my favorite songs still, and likely always will be.
It's hard to believe that he's gone he was he battled with a cancer for a few years and he passed away I guess by the time you put your comment on there I think it's been like 13 years ago or 11 years ago and he was probably still alive then wow the song is amazing makes me think of not just a video but also stuff like when a person first gets out of jail and they might get on a bus and if this song came on it would kind of remind them of their own situation and just it's an interesting song it touches a lot of different avenue areas and avenues of people's lives
This has been my favorite song for over two decades now. I just love everything about it. What a gifted , great singer song writer. So much great music. Tony Carey is and will always be one of my all time favorite musicians.
I 1st became aware of Tony Carey when he was playing keyboards in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow w/Ronnie James Dio on vocals, I always wondered what Rainbow would have sounded like after Dio left with Tony on vocals and keyboards...
40 years ago I heard this song on the radio... loved it right away... went out and bought the single (that was all the money I had that day...)... first chance I had after that I bought the LP. It's still one of my most cherished albums. Tony is superb!!
Have you ever listened to his first Planet P album? It is my favourite record by Tony, but the Some Tough City record comes in second place. A totally underrated musician and songwriter.
A time in mystical music that hasn't been matched or probably never will be. People have no idea how to live and let live. Blinded by the wickedness of this world.
For music it was a STUNNING decade! - It's like the 80's comstructed one musical leged after another. - I thank and appreciate every last one of them these years later!
I agree...there is no talent in the music indurstry these days. There might be a few..but only a few..most of it is crap. This man was a true talent. He was way overlooked.
Toney Carey !! my God this guy was playing keys with RAINBOW back in the 70s huh ? What a fine and way underrrated talent when he went solo...still got some vynils of him somewhere...Boystown....great songs.
heard this song wen i was 15yrs old..way back in 84...and hadnt heard it since, until i came across it here...a quite classic song...pure american pop,rock....
i loved this song from when i was 12 today i'm 39.still excellent ,too bad it's forgotten.have the original album,no cds on this one,never reissued.early mtv .
My husband turned me on to Tony Carey's music about a month ago & I totally love it..filled with so much emotion..unlike a lot of todays music..his words hit your heart and embed themselves right there bringing back memories you may have buried away or just tucked away for a rainy day!! I could listen to his songs all day long..thanks so much for sharing!!!
I'm so grateful the radio stations in my area out the time this song was out played it pretty regularly..what a total total injustice that it didn't go into the Top 10 or at least Top 5 on the single charts
This guy is such an underrated singer and his hits he's got like four or five hits that are really really good like the first day of summer and fine fine day and a bunch of other ones and even recently I think in 2020 or 2021 he has another song out and he used to play with rainbow back in the '70s is really a talented man
AWWWESEME TUNE..Brings Back GREAT Memories For Me..'84 Tune Also My Grad. Year..Yah Good Old Class of '84..LUUUV the Total Lip Synch...Oh Well..Gotta LUUUV the 80'S MUSIC...I Always Did..HELLYA I Did most of My Growing up During the 80'S😎🤣😁🤛👊🤘✌🖐
man I heard this song years ago and never did know who it was,,it was always kinda in the back of the far reaches of my mind,,and now I found it,,pretty good i must say..
@sebastainknight likewise my friend,i was 15 back in 1984..and wat an age to hear a song like that, thought i never wud again, but youtube is a lifesaver;; a quite classic american pop, rock song...pure class..
i looked for this cd,after watching this,it has been out of print scince 1994,but i managed to find it on amazon, can't wait to listen to it,great song,
I have always liked this guys musical style and voice and bought the Planet P project way back and then kind of forgot about him. And thanks to you tube I started re-discovering my favorite music of the past. And I just was curious where this great musician hailed from and to my surprise he grew up in a town called Turlock about 100 miles from where I live. Amazing all the great musicians who come from small towns in america and make it big.
Actually, Mickey Lee Soule was the original keyboard player in Rainbow, as Blackmore agreed to use (most of) Dio's band Elf at Ronnie's insistance. Tony joined on the second album, Rising.
All I had was a cassette tape of this guy, honestly I've loved his songs ever since I stole this cassette from my ex hubby - I decided he didn't need it, cause he was otherwise occupied
He Played,(s) Keyboards , The Guitar 🎸 Was ,A Prop , Basically...Greg Allman🎹, Had The Same Issues, Performing As The " Front-man", Hid Behind,All The Equipment, Off To The Side...🤔 ✌️😎
It doesn't matter where you find an audience as long as you have people listening. Come to think of,it'd be kinda nice to be huge in one part of the world and relatively unknown in another so you can get away from it all for a spell, heh. Oh, and Solid Gold was an American program btw.I even saw this appearance.
Just cus the lips dont match the music, doesnt mean he is lipsyncing. Its called "the music track is off a bit" It still happens. Awhile back, every video at MySpace, the video and music didnt match. Wasnt the video, it was something else. Its working fine now. Tony Carey kicks some ass with this song!
36 years later, I’m still hooked on this song.
This is one of the songs from my teen years in the 80s that I never forgot, all these years later. One of my favorite songs still, and likely always will be.
I was going through my 45's today and found this. Forgot how much I loved it.
I miss the 80's!!!
@@christieparden1985 Those were some heady days.
Hadn't heard this song in 23 years. Always remembered it. Amazingly, it still fucking rocks.

@@timothysmith8667 No, he's alive and busy on new projects. Thanks God :)
very underrated song from the spring of 1984 should have charted higher
This has been my favorite song for over two decades now. I just love everything about it. What a gifted , great singer song writer. So much great music. Tony Carey is and will always be one of my all time favorite musicians.
& Planet P Project is pure genius!!
You're so right, what a gifted musician and tremendous performer.
I'm totally agree .
Is he doing any concerts ?
I 1st became aware of Tony Carey when he was playing keyboards in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
w/Ronnie James Dio on vocals, I always wondered what Rainbow would have sounded like after Dio left with Tony on vocals and keyboards...
I love this its a fine day for this song
Always loved this song. Some reason it never got any radio time where I lived. Only time I ever heard it was on MTV.
Deserved much more. Great song

@@JRG58 I have most of the records he's been involved in up 'til today - at least of the ones I know of...
He's totally awesome...
That's what he is! 👍
A time in mystical music that hasn't been matched or probably never will be. People have no idea how to live and let live. Blinded by the wickedness of this world.
The video to this song was the first video I ever saw on MTV....damn good song then and now
Tony Carey's stint with Rainbow can be clearly heard in this beautiful sad song. And let's not forget his Planet P Project.
I had no idea he was in rainbow thanks for the info
This song sounds better with the audience clapping, still a great song, what do you expect from a fantastic decade.
For music it was a STUNNING decade!

I lost this song from the 80's till I found it on Napster in 2000 or 01. It's one of the best from 1984

How did I miss this song in the 80s?? One of the best songs ever!! And Tony was and is so talented...amazing
Always been one of my favorite songs.
in the day when MTV showed only videos 24/7
I absolutely loved this song from the first time I heard it. My Dad's name was Sonny.
I saw Tony play at an outdoor concert in 84 and I've been a big fan since then. It's too bad that he never got the recognition he deserves.
Saw him in concert back in 84 when he opened for Night Ranger.
Contacted Tony maybe 10 years ago, he was fishing off the coast of Spain. Much respect, he has been a great influence.
Tony Carey is amazing.
A Fine, Fine Day is a great fucking song.
Love this song till this day, the 80's were good!!!
Wow, remembering my summer 80s with friends in a car going nowere and listening to Tony Carey...
what a great song - such a good story teller! Love it! Central Park $20 Mark! Ya!
Tony Du bist der Hammer 🔨🔨🔨
I play this one at jam groups and it's so fun. Such a good song. Kind of country. I can't sing that good raspy voice.
