I tried it on the Tryweryn a couple days ago. It's a super fun boat. Ridiculously happy with the tail in the water making tailies, pirouettes and splats a total joy. When you get the tail down it feels super balanced and stable on end. I think the design of the boat puts trim a little back of centre, so to make it more of a river runner people are gonna want the seat forward, or just keep enjoying effortless tailies all the way down at normal setting.
I got the chance to paddle this boat today and I was directly addicted. Its just so dope to paddle and I think I will buy myself one even if its a little bit expensive.
@@WadeHarrison I just ĺove it and the good news is even if its a little expensive I can sell my old Axiom and my playboat because I don't need them any more when I have a Ripper 2 it combines the nice slice heck and abilities of a playboat with the riverrunning abitlities of a riverunner its just perfect.
Love these videos! One tip for the GoPro, if you go into the settings and turn the wind filter off, the muffled sound after the camera takes a dunking will last a lot less time (the camera thinks the water Ingress is wind so it aggressively applies the filter to all of the mics, which is why it sounds muffled). Will certainly look at taking one of these for a demo!
trust me its off I never run that setting this is just part of doing these in real time this is not paddling a creek boat and sitting and talking between rapids when im in a play boat or halfslice the mics are full of water every rapid because of my vert style and I have no idea how it sounds until in get home and go through it thanks for the feedback Simon always trying to improve
@@WadeHarrison No problem Wade. Good to hear. I found that the HERO9 onwards seemed to clear much quicker (almost instantly) with the wind filter off. Maybe the pre-9s take longer to clear. You do damn fine work though man, keep it up!
@@WadeHarrison Just a question about it's surfing. At one point it sounds like you're saying you're not sure you like the way it surfs. Does it just need that dialling in you mentioned? Yesss! Thank you. As soon as I started paddling the scorch I started wondering if they’d get a ripper 2 out with a little more rocker and of course they were working on it. Thanks for the video really enjoyed but question I’m newer to whitewater do u think the ripper 2 is a boat to learn out of? Or should I get something more like the scorch X?
Well those are pretty drastically different I would say the ripper 2 would be one of those boats that will speed up some moves and might be little to aggressive at times the scorch would be a good choice not the X as more a first boat

Ah interesting. Thanks Wade, I’ll start with that position when my one arrives. It’ll be interesting to see if it replaces my Ripper 1 or whether I sell it on. Fingers crossed
I’m on wait list for a Small, and my main two concerns right now are that this boat might: 1. Feel unbalanced with all that bow rocker and volume and such a low volume stern 2. Lock onto waves and not really be nimble w such a long, low, wide (beaver) tail. That’s how my Goat felt to me on a wave, whereas the short tail on my Antix 2.0 makes it fantastic for carving on waves. 🦫
@@WadeHarrison for sure! I’m sure I’m gonna love it. We are similar in size and your reviews usually translate well for me. Im pretty excited about this boat…

Given that our rivers are typically smaller than your videos "ie" not as deep or wide, as a river running play boat how would you compare the ripper 2 to the Antix 2.0. My way of thinking is the Antix has a shorter wider stern so wont hang up on rocks so much. ???

@@stuartreedsadventures I actually tried one at tuck fest yesterday. It was like nothing I’ve ever paddled before. It seemed to have a stupid amount of rocker in the bow. When you first hop in it seems like you are riding a wheelie there is so much rocker. It went over all the holes with ease. Didn’t seem as fast as the 1.0. The 2.0 is easier to get vertical and once you get it up it wants to spin a lot. The last thing I seemed to notice was it liked to skip out of drops kinda like the modern creek boats now a days. I need more seat time to tell how I feel about it compared to the rewind though. The rewind is a great all around half slice. Does everything really well. The ripper 2.0 seemed very edgy and more playful than the rewind but probably wouldn’t take it down the mank compared to the rewind I wouldn’t mind to. Hope this helps.
