Check out their demos. Pretty badass way back then. Completely different than any of their albums.
This is actually a bit better than Cradle Of Filth today cause if you haven't noticed, Dani has been having trouble doing his high-pitched scream cause he's been doing it for years, yet back then, it seems like he could do it just perfectly.

I need to to learn my metal? I've been listening to metal for over 10 years. Their demos are Death Metal with keys, then symphonic metal. They merely had ties with the BM scene, but were never BM. Behexen is "kvlt black metal" CoF was never.
